Fu Jinghen patted Qin Xiang’s shoulder and for the first ti today spoke to him in a serious tone, "Whether I’m talking nonsense or not, you know yourself. Avoidance is useless. If you don’t even have the courage to confront your own desires, what else can you do? If you don’t even know what you want, what can you possibly gain?"
Qin Xiang’s smile faded away as he fell silent.
Ever since they were young, Fu Jinghen rarely spoke to him with such seriousness. The last ti he had done so was when Qin Xiang got into a fight in his first year of high school. Fu Jinghen had stepped in for him, resulting in a broken arm that made him miss that year’s Physics competition.
Inherent to Qin Xiang’s nature since birth was a restlessness, "youthful recklessness" perfectly encapsulated his very essence.
Even with his own brother and Fu Jinghen looking out for him, he managed to cause trouble whenever they were not paying attention.
In Fu Jinghen’s second year of high school, when Qin Xiang had just started his first year, he beca addicted to a video ga. He played night and day until he eventually began skipping classes to play at internet cafes. Whenever soone was missing from class, Fu Jinghen could easily find him at the cafe and drag him out.
One ti, when Qin Xiang skipped class to ga at the cafe, it just happened to be a Saturday, and the cafe was more crowded than usual. His usual computer was occupied, so the front desk staff set him up with another computer. Qin Xiang didn’t care—as long as he could play, any computer would do.
However, the staff mber at the front desk was new and didn’t realize that the computer given to Qin Xiang was normally reserved by soone from the neighboring vocational school. Seeing that it was unoccupied, the staff mber had passed it on to Qin Xiang.
When the regular patron arrived and saw soone in his spot, he beca furious and walked over to demand that Qin Xiang get up.
Qin Xiang wasn’t unreasonable; if soone had talked to him nicely, he would have willingly given up the spot once the situation was explained and asked the staff to set up another computer for him. But the vocational school guy wanted to yank Qin Xiang up by his shirt collar, which naturally ignited Qin Xiang’s temper.
Youthful and hot-blooded, the situation quickly escalated into a brawl.
Those from the vocational school tended to band together, whereas Qin Xiang was on his own.
Coincidentally, the class monitor of Qin Xiang’s class happened to be at the internet cafe to help a teacher adjust test contents due to a power outage at school. After witnessing the fight, he scrambled out of the cafe and raced to the first class around the corner on the second floor of the teaching building, pale-faced as he approached Fu Jinghen.
Not long after the school year began, when class officials were selected, Fu Jinghen had approached their class monitor to keep him inford of Qin Xiang’s whereabouts—an informant that even Qin Xiang himself was unaware of.
At that mont, Fu Jinghen was in self-study class. Seeing the informant he had planted by Qin Xiang rushing over in a panic, he knew sothing had happened to Qin Xiang.
After the informant had told Fu Jinghen where Qin Xiang was and what he was doing, Fu Jinghen took off his glasses and charged out; the informant paused briefly before following suit.
With his tall fra and long legs, by the ti the informant had exited, Fu Jinghen was already out of sight.
Fortunately, he knew the location, and after hastily returning to the internet cafe, what he witnessed was the well-spoken student from the orientation ceremony, the exemplary student praised by all the teachers, the calm and composed Fu Jinghen, who firmly held the number one spot in the sophomore year, kicking over a guy who was about to pounce on Qin Xiang.
