In the Gravity do, Leah was staring at a spherical-shaped thing that Azzy took out from his storage card.
"Is this really the spaceship your secret backer gave it to you? It's not a prank you are pulling on , right?" Leah asked with a look of uncertainty on her face. Well, her worries were not unfounded.
The object literally resembled a baseball created for giants, if there is such a race.
Azzy responded by speaking out loud with his gaze on the object, "Aria, open the door."
*sssh*
The door opened to reveal a barrier sort of entrance.
Azzy then walked towards it, "follow ."
As Leah followed him into the spaceship, she found out that the interior was a lot bigger than she expected.
It was divided into several sections, one attributed to controls, a dorm with about ten rooms, a large gravity chamber, a dining area, a bar filled with various alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, an entertainnt zone, a storage room, etc…
She felt as if she entered a pocket dinsion.
Then, they were greeted by a moving holographic 3D image of a girl, "Hello, Captain. Greetings, Ms. Pendragon. I'm Aria, a super artificial intelligence program designed by Dr. Mac. At the mont, my designation is the pilot of this spaceship."
"Ah, hello," Leah nodded in return with a bit of surprise on her face. Azzy casually waved his hand, "Hey, Aria. Everything good on your side?"
"The Ship's condition is good. We leave whenever you are ready, Captain. But, before that, I advise both of you to equip the spacesuit in case of an unexpected malfunction or an ambush from an unknown during the travels between each space jump," replied the holographic 3d image. After a brief pause, she added, "Since this is going to be a test run, we will be doing several space jumps for safety.
The first space jump will be the smallest in order to escape from the radar of the World Space Agency."
Leah couldn't help but marvel at the advanced scientific technology before her eyes and comnted, "I thought those battle robots were the greatest invention of mankind."
"Ms. Pendragon, the Battle Robot was also an invention by Dr. Mac," replied the holographic Aria right away.
"Oh!" Leah exclaid; she wasn't aware of it, for she always thought it was the work of the Northern Qudour governnt's R&D.
Or perhaps, this Dr. Mac works for the governnt? "Hmm… it could be possible," thought Leah.
Soon, Azzy and Leah wore spacesuits and sat down in the lounge while Aria operated the ship as the door closed.
Her voice was heard all over the ship.
"Destination selected: Planet Xula, Star system: Proxima Centauri/Gliesse 551
Distance: 519.56 light-years
Needed space jumps required: 18
Expected travel ti: 191 hours, 12 minutes."
"This is safe mode?" Leah couldn't help but wonder, "I wonder what's going to be the normal mode."
"Tighten your seat belts. Initiating the space jump in ten seconds."
"10, 9, 8, 7, 6 …"
"3, 2, 1."
The spaceship was covered by spatial energy and disappeared from the Gravity Do before reappearing on the largest moon of the solar system, located about 900 million kiloters away from the planet Gaia.
"We arrived on Lyra, one of the 71 nad satellites of Planet Giove. Would you like to roam for a while? The ship's engine needs atleast 3 minutes to cooldown for further travel," Aria made the announcent.
"No need. It's not a habitable world anyway," replied Azzy in a calm manner. His partner, on the other hand, wasn't calm at all.
"Giove? We ca that far in an instant?" Leah expressed her astonishnt.
She fell into deep thoughts "Master, of course, had instantly teleported us to far away solar systems but he is a god. On the other hand, this is just the scientific advancent of mankind. This Dr. Mac, whoever, she was, I don't think she is a human from this planet. Is she an alien, perhaps? Years ago, I rember the occurrence of an alien invasion at Freyles.
They had advanced tech. Hence, it could be possible that she could be from one of those advanced civilizations too."
A couple of minutes later, Aria's announcent was heard once again, "Initiating the launch in ten seconds."
Roughly 50 hours later;
Azzy was sleeping in his chamber. Despite having optimal conditions for a peaceful sleep in the room, he was sweating a lot. There was a deep frown on his sleeping face too, as if he was experiencing a nightmare.
All of a sudden, alarms rang all over the ship, forcefully disturbing his dream.
"haaa…"
Letting out a gasp, he woke up, "It's been a while since I saw that dream again."
After wiping out the sweat on his forehead, he got down and quickly put on the bulky spacesuit, left the dorm section, returned to the lounge, and took his seat.
Leah also returned but she didn't put on the suit, knowing that she would return to the dorm once again in a few minutes anyway.
"We will be entering the star system of Cygnus 168. Get ready for the space jump," Aria's announcent had them tighten their seat belts.
The spaceship shook once again as it disappeared from space and appeared in the orbit of an exoplanet that seed to have lots of water, although there appeared to be no oceans here.
Instead, the entire planet is covered by land and water exists here and there, in the form of large lakes spanning thousands of kiloters.
"A planet with life form has been discovered," announced Aria. She asked, "The ship needs 18 and a half minutes of cooldown to travel. During such ti, we will be orbiting around the planet, as usual. Would you like to continue the journey or land on the planet?"
"No need. Let's…" Azzy wasn't interested in roaming on the planet as he wanted to reach the destination as fast as he could.
But, Leah interrupted his words by saying, "We'll take a break, Aria."
"Hmm?" Azzy looked at his partner. Leah replied, "It's been more than two days since we started. I need so fresh air. Exploring the world for a few hours will not do much damage to your mission."
Seeing that Azzy had no reaction, Leah further added, "You can also see that the cooldown tir is increasing with each space jump. Perhaps, it is due to continuous space jumps. Giving it more ti of cooldown right now might decrease it in the future."
"Is it true, Aria?" Azzy asked the super A.I.
"Yes," The 3d holographic image appeared before them and gave a firm nod. "However, the total journey ti will also be increased the longer you take a break." She didn't forget to warn them.
As Azzy was weighing pros and cons, Leah reminded him of a simple logic that turned in her favor, "the longer the space jump is, the higher the risk of getting discovered by unknown forces. Wasting our ti here might benefit us in the upcoming days. We only had like 7 so far. There are still 11 to go."
"Hmm… I guess you are right," Azzy gave his nod for the break, "Aria, scan its atmosphere, planet, and everything, and report."
Half a minute later;
"Scanning is completed."
