256: Chapter 256: A Drift Bottle
“So, is it a treasure?” Lin Yifan inquired.
“I don’t know.
It doesn’t seem to have anything special about it, but since it was kept in such a precious wooden box, it must have its value,” An Qi answered.
“It looks like I’ll need to ask a treasure appraisal master to identify it once we get back,” Lin Yifan murmured to himself.
“Maybe that’s the only way,” An Qi said.
Afterwards, Lin Yifan put the wooden box away, planning to give it to An Qi when they returned.
Then, they cuddled up and fell asleep together.
Sleeping on top of soone of the opposite sex for the first ti in her life, An Qi felt both embarrassed and bashful, because the position was just too suggestive.
A few hours later, the sun ca up.
At that mont, Lin Yifan hurriedly woke An Qi up, “Hey!
Baby, the sun’s butt is showing, hurry and get up.”
“You big pervert!
Why are you shouting?
Can’t you let soone sleep a little longer?” An Qi complained with the petulance of soone reluctant to leave their bed.
“Weren’t you in a rush to get back?
Now might be the best ti, since there are many fishing boats out at sea,” Lin Yifan replied.
“Really?” Hearing the words “go back,” An Qi imdiately perked up.
To tell the truth, she didn’t want to spend another second on the island.
“Mhm!” Lin Yifan nodded and then said, “Let
get up first.
I’m going to build a beacon tower.”
“What do you need a beacon tower for?” An Qi asked, puzzled.
“It’s a basic survival instinct.
In the vast sea, if you want soone to discover you, you must first attract their attention.
We humans are too small; a fishing boat in the distance simply won’t be able to spot us.
So, to catch the attention of a boat passing by, we need to use sothing else; the thick smoke from a beacon can be very conspicuous against the vast expanse of the sea and easily noticed by the fishing boats.
Once they see it, we’ll have a chance to be rescued,” Lin Yifan explained.
“Oh!
I see!” An Qi suddenly understood.
She began to admire Lin Yifan, who knew everything, like a walking encyclopedia, especially out in the wilderness.
After explaining, Lin Yifan went off to gather wood and started building.
Another goal of the trip was to find sothing waterproof on the island that could produce thick smoke.
Plastic would be a good choice.
With the advance of human civilization, there’s more and more trash in the ocean.
Almost every island has traces of modern objects, especially those made of plastic.
So as long as you look, you could always find sothing.
After searching for a while, Lin Yifan quickly found so plastic items on a beach.
It was a plastic bottle with a rolled-up note inside, probably from soone who played with a ssage-in-a-bottle for making a wish or sothing.
However, using a plastic bottle seed sowhat ‘out’.
“Since fate has brought us together, let’s see what wish you made!”
Driven by curiosity, Lin Yifan opened the bottle and took out the note to read it.
The next mont, seeing the content written on the note, his eyes filled with tears; because the note read—You big pervert!
I love you!
Wait for !
Note date: XXXX year, August 8th.
“Isn’t that this year’s lunar July 7th?
The Qixi Festival?
666!” Lin Yifan found it all very surprising, very coincidental.
This plastic bottle was truly an unexpected find.
After getting back, he would again tease An Qi with it.
After safely tucking away the note, Lin Yifan continued to search for plastic items.
Before long, he had found many plastic objects, including plastic bags.
Lin Yifan sneakily found a place to hide, then packed the “Witchcraft Secret Manual” into a plastic bag, wrapped it up, secured it well, and then leisurely returned.
After placing the pile of plastic objects he had found next to the shelter on the open beach, he went into the jungle to search for wood to build a simple Beacon Tower.
A few minutes later, he had gathered all the wood he needed and began to construct the Beacon Tower on the sandy beach.
He arranged three long tree trunks into an equilateral triangle, propped them up against each other, and secured them firmly into the sand, then tied the intersection of the three trunks tightly with vines.
Next, he built a platform in the middle of this triangular pyramid fra; once that was done, he laid out large banana leaves on this rudintary platform and piled on top the plastic items and dry twigs and leaves, followed by a layer of green grass and leaves.
The purpose of building the Beacon Tower was to create thick smoke, not to start a fire, and green grass and leaves would produce a lot of smoke when heated; hence, a layer of green plants was laid on top to generate thick smoke.
After finishing the construction of the Beacon Tower, Lin Yifan walked back to the shelter with a cheeky grin.
Seeing that mischievous smile, An Qi nervously asked, “Big bad wolf!
What devilish idea have you co up with now?
Let
tell you, if you dare bully , I’ll hit you!”
“Don’t be nervous, I just want to ask you a question,” Lin Yifan said with a sinister chuckle, giving off an aura of a smile that concealed a knife.
“What question?” An Qi inquired; she had a feeling it wouldn’t be anything good.
Indeed, the question Lin Yifan asked next stunned her, “Do you know what a ssage in a bottle is?”
At the ntion of “ssage in a bottle,” An Qi was montarily taken aback; then, looking at Lin Yifan’s bright, eerie smile, she suddenly had a foreboding feeling, “That can’t be, right?
Did he find it?
Could it be such a coincidence?”
At that mont, her heart thumped wildly with extre anxiety, and she answered sowhat frantically, “I…
I know, what…
what about it?”
“Nothing much.
I just happened to find sothing resembling a ssage in a bottle on the seashore, with a rolled-up note inside,” Lin Yifan replied, staring intently at An Qi to see her reaction.
“A note?
What note, show…
show it to ?” An Qi’s voice was filled with nervousness; she felt sure that Lin Yifan had found her wish bottle, otherwise, he wouldn’t be sporting that mocking smile.
“Can’t reveal that so quickly,” Lin Yifan denied An Qi’s request.
“Then why bring it up at all?
You might as well have said nothing,” An Qi replied, sowhat irritated.
“Just wanted to ask if you knew what was written on the note, that’s all,” Lin Yifan kept a jovial expression as he responded.
“How would I know what’s on the note if it’s not mine?” An Qi retorted irritably, though she was actually incredibly anxious by this point.
“Babe!
You’ve never played with this kind of thing?” Lin Yifan leaned in close to An Qi’s face, peering into her flustered eyes, and questioned softly.
“I…
I haven’t played with it!” An Qi stamred, head bowed, feeling sowhat shy and not daring to et Lin Yifan’s gaze.
“Are you sure about that?” Lin Yifan questioned again.
