The gorilla looked back on the past, feeling very downcast, "I really want to go back and have a look."
At this point, the bear man interjected, "Big brother, do you know who the Demon Emperor is now?"
"Who?" the gorilla asked.
"Your son."
"Nonsense. After my disappearance, it was definitely going to be my son succeeding the throne as Demon Emperor. That was a sure thing."
"But do you know which son it is?"
"Hmm... the eldest and the third are the most outstanding; they had the greatest chance of becoming the Demon Emperor. Oh, the fifth and the eighth are not bad either..."
"It's not the eldest, nor the third, not even the fifth or the eighth."
"Ah? Then who is it? Could it be the tenth?"
"It's your youngest son, Xing Mietian."
"What?" The gorilla was shocked, "Who did you say? Say it again. Who is it!"
"It's Xing Mietian! Your youngest son!" the bear man repeated, "Surprising, isn't it? I was just as shocked when I first heard the news."
"Impossible!" The gorilla shook his head vigorously, "Absolutely impossible! Among all the princes, Xing Mietian was the least capable. How could he possibly beco the Demon Emperor?" The gorilla couldn't believe it.
"It's true," He Hentian said, "The current Demon Emperor is Xing Mietian. In my mory, Xing Mietian is a very capable and strategic Great Demon. Under his rule, the Demon Territory is thriving, and even my grandfather holds him in high esteem."
"How can this be? It's simply miraculous," the gorilla said in disbelief. "Sothing must have happened, otherwise, there's no way Xing Mietian could have beco the Demon Emperor. There are so many more capable princes; it wouldn't be his turn?! No, I must investigate this matter thoroughly!"
Just as the old bear and the old lizard had said, the gorilla was not very fond of his youngest son, Xing Mietian. In his eyes, the youngest son was a dull introvert who couldn't kick up a fuss even if he tried, reticent and diocre. It never crossed the gorilla's mind... Could his youngest son, Xing Mietian, have possibly beco the Demon Emperor?
What about the other princes? Why didn't they stop him?
What exactly happened here?
The gorilla was anxious and wished he could sprout wings and imdiately fly back to the Demon Territory.
"We've arrived!" soone shouted out of nowhere.
Everyone looked up and saw a pitch-black hole before them, from which cold air wafted out, freezing the flowers and plants in the vicinity.
"Is this the bottomless hole you ntioned?" Duanmu Hong approached, peeked inside, and remarked, "It's indeed very deep! Let's go down and have a look." Having said that, Duanmu Hong leapt into the hole.
"Senior, wait for , I'm coming too." He Hentian followed right after and jumped down as well.
The old bear, the old lizard, and the gorilla also jumped into the hole one after another. Gao Fei hesitated for a mont, then jumped in. Just now, using his Clairvoyance, he had tried to examine the inside of the hole but was blocked by a mysterious energy, which made Gao Fei rather frustrated.
After a long descent, they finally reached the bottom.
"Everyone be careful, the attack-and-defense Formation is not far ahead," the old bear said with a serious expression.
"You folks wait here, I'll go take a look." Duanmu Hong took a step forward but then stopped. She turned her head toward Gao Fei, "Gao Fei, co with !" She knew Gao Fei had Li Fire, and Li Fire was the nesis of Formations. Soon, they could use Li Fire to break the Formation.
Gao Fei responded and walked forward with Duanmu Hong, while He Hentian, wanting to follow, was vetoed by Duanmu Hong.
"I won't accept this!" He Hentian huffed, "Why let Gao Fei follow you but not ? This is favoritism! I won't accept it! I won't accept it at all!!! In terms of talent, aptitude, identity, and status, where am I inferior to Gao Fei? Why look down on ?"
...
After walking forward for several dozen ters, a massive Formation ca into sight. Bright, blinding beams of light converged, forming an enormous Energy Sphere from which a terrifying aura emanated.
"Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!"
The Energy Sphere suddenly began to spin and then fired beams of light.
"Not good, the Formation is attacking us!" The great ape's face changed color, "Everyone, be careful to dodge. You mustn't let the beams touch you!"
"These beams have extrely potent corrosive abilities. Once touched by them, rapid decay will ensue," the old bear yelled, "If you can't dodge, retreat imdiately! Don't try to be a hero!"
"Try to use your Treasures to counter the beams, Supre Grade Treasures are the best... Actually, no matter the Level of the Treasure, they will all eventually be corroded by the beams. The only difference is that Supre Grade Treasures can last a little longer," the old lizard said.
"Is it really that powerful?" He Hentian seed sowhat skeptical as he drew out a great saber, slashing at the beams. This saber was a Supre Grade Treasure, forged from ocean-blue Jin, incredibly tough, able to stand its ground even against Spiritual Treasures.
"Pfft!"
When the great saber made contact with the beam, white smoke began to rise from the blade, accompanied by a pungent stench, and in the blink of an eye, the blade beca pitted and scarred.
"Ah!" He Hentian cried out, "These beams are so powerful, such incredible corrosive force! My great saber is a Supre Grade Treasure, capable of clashing with Spiritual Treasures, and yet it's being corroded by a few beams… This… This is utterly absurd…"
"Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh!"
Several beams shot toward him from the side with great speed.
"To hell with this!" He Hentian threw away the great saber and turned to run. Having witnessed the dreadful corrosive power of the beams, he dared not hold his ground any longer, opting to flee instead. The saber, now ruined, was of no use to him anymore, so he simply discarded it.
He Hentian, wealthy and bold, didn't care about losing a great saber.
The others were also in dire straits. The treasures they brought were corroded by the beams, and so of the Great Demons were wounded.
"We can't go on like this!" Duanmu Hong's eyes flashed with severity, "Gao Fei! Can you hold on?"
"Still can," Gao Fei shouted back.
"I'll cover for you. You find a way to get close to the Formation, then burn it with Li Fire."
"Okay!"
"Co, get over here!"
...
Duanmu Hong unleashed her might, employing various profound techniques to counter the beams while Gao Fei followed closely behind, moving toward the Formation.
"Senior, what's the origin of these beams?" Gao Fei couldn't help but ask, "I've never seen beams as powerful as these before."
"I don't know either," Duanmu Hong shook her head, "It's my first ti seeing them too."
"Huh?" Gao Fei was taken aback, "You don't know either?" Knowing that Duanmu Hong had lived for hundreds of thousands of years and seen countless wonders, she was like a living encyclopedia. Yet now, Duanmu Hong claid not to recognize these beams... What did that imply? It ant that the beams were very precious! Could anything unknown to Duanmu Hong be anything but extraordinary?
"Pfft!"
A beam grazed past Gao Fei's scalp, nearly piercing through his head, turning his face pale with fright.
"Don't lose focus!" Duanmu Hong snapped, "Stay alert, look for an opportunity to break the Formation."
