Chapter 72: Don’t Know If It’s Stupid Or Genius

Isabella paced back and forth in front of the large gates of the mansion. Usually, whenever her car was seen approaching, the gates would automatically open for her. But now, even when she reached them, they didn’t open at all.

Worse, guards stood right across the gates, forming a large horizontal line like a second barrier.

"Why aren’t you letting

in?" Isabella growled at them. "I want to see Ashley! Didn’t you hear ?"

But none of them budged an inch.

Red, who was among the guards in the line, yawned and tugged at his earlobe. "There’s nothing in this place that isn’t making

yawn."

Then, his face twisted as he turned to the woman right outside the gates.

"Quit yapping already," he muttered, audible to those near him but not to Isabella. "Why is this woman even here?"

From what they all knew, it was Isabella who gave the wrong information to Lucian. They had their own faults, but normally, in situations such as that, they couldn’t just wait and finish the investigation before acting.

As Red grew bored watching Isabella force her way in, he heard her yell,

"Ash!"

His brow arched as he glanced back, catching Ashley running toward them. She slipped through the human barricade and clutched the gates dramatically.

"The hell is she doing here?" Red wondered, his eyes wandering to the maid at the side.

He didn’t dwell on it, though, setting his eyes on the crazy woman and her sister on the other side of the gate.

"Ashley!" Isabella called out worriedly, scanning Ashley’s face like a concerned family mber. "Are you alright?"

Ashley pursed her lips as she looked at Isabella. "I’m okay, Isabella. What’s going on here?"

"They won’t let

in," Isabella clicked her tongue, glaring at the guards ters behind Ashley. Then she lowered her voice. "What happened? Are you alright? I heard what happened to June."

But sohow, even when she lowered her voice, the guards behind her couldn’t help but frown.

Why is she acting like this? They all wondered. Then their eyes landed on Ashley’s back. And why is that woman acting like this? Didn’t she know?

The one who tipped them off and said Ashley eloped with a hooligan was that woman, Isabella Di Carpio.

Did no one tell Ashley that?

"Mhm," Ashley nodded and frowned innocently. "Isabella, I think you shouldn’t co here for now. Lucian was really angry, you know?"

Isabella’s jaw tightened as she gripped the tal tightly. "Why didn’t you show up at the place I told you?"

"How could I show up? I can’t even leave here without getting dragged back," Ashley whispered, pouting. "Also, even when you told

the address, I don’t even know how to find it. You know I’m bad with directions."

This idiot!

Isabella ground her teeth as she looked at Ashley, who was pouting like a wronged puppy. Seeing Ashley’s reaction, she cald down and nodded to herself.

Right, she’s always bad with directions. I should’ve chosen an easier spot and not overthought it.

"Isabella, don’t worry!" This ti, Ashley exclaid aloud for everyone to hear. "Once things are better, I’ll beg the big boss to let you back in here again!"

Everyone who heard Ashley’s enthusiasm couldn’t stop their faces from contorting.

"What the hell...?" Red scrunched up his nose. "After all of that, she’s gonna what? Did no one actually tell her about what that woman did?"

Their faces soured.

"Is she really this oblivious?" One of the guards whispered when he couldn’t take it anymore. "How co she doesn’t know? Even if no one told her, doesn’t she get the hint?"

"Even if no one tells her, she should know that her sister almost killed her."

None of them liked Ashley, and they all had their reasons for that. But Isabella? They disliked her simply because of how she usually acted around Lucian. She reeked of entitlent. Besides, only a blind person wouldn’t notice how she looked at him with desire in her eyes.

Just like all the won who tried to seduce their big boss.

No one could bla them, though.

Lucian was a man in his pri—handso, powerful, wealthy. Na it, he had it all. That was why it remained a mystery why, of all the won, he had chosen soone like Ashley.

Ashley smiled brightly, looking directly at Isabella. "Don’t worry about , Isabella. I’ll be okay. You should worry about yourself first, after all..." She pursed her lips and looked around nervously before leaning closer to whisper, "If Lucian finds out you’re helping , it’s not going to be good for you."

Isabella’s entire body trembled as she looked at the worry on Ashley’s face. Her shoulders tensed as a lump ford in her throat, reminding her that she was the one who told Lucian about Ashley’s plans. She didn’t know what actually happened, but what she did know was that June had been taken away by masked n.

Fortunately, the man was dumped right in the middle of the city.

In other words, Isabella could only think that Ashley had been caught before she could et June.

That ans... I still haven’t lost Lucian’s favor, she thought, convincing herself that because of Ashley’s lack of sense of direction, Isabella’s tip had co early. But as long as Ashley left, that was enough to back up her claim.

"I see," Isabella nodded and smiled, recomposing herself as she studied Ashley. "Ashley, take care, alright?"

She leaned closer. "Don’t give up just yet."

"Of course." Ashley smiled widely, nodding. "Bye-bye, Isabella. See you next ti~!"

Isabella drew a deep breath and released the tal gates. She looked at Ashley, who was stuck behind them, before taking a step back.

I’m sure she’s dying to cross these gates, but Lucian is not soone to be trifled with. I have to be glad this idiot doesn’t have a brain.

Convinced by her thoughts, she turned on her heel and walked to her car.

As for Ashley, she kept waving until the car began moving.

"Ah!" she perked up and walked toward the smaller gate.

Without hesitation, she stepped out and rushed to Isabella’s car. The latter jolted when a knock ca on the window.

When Isabella turned and saw Ashley just outside, she furrowed her brows and rolled down the window.

"Ashley?"

"Isabella, by the way, can you tell June thanks for his concern?" Ashley smiled. "Since I didn’t reach him, I was a bit worried about him."

"Uh—"

"Anyway, bye-bye!" Ashley jumped away and ran back inside the gate, taking the sa spot where she had stood earlier to continue waving at her.

"...." Isabella blinked, confused.

Did she just... step out of the gates?

Her eyes lifted to the guards, but none of them seed to have made a move to stop Ashley from stepping out. If anything, they were looking at her with clear dismay.

Were they just as shocked? she wondered, her brain unable to process it.

She snapped out of it and saw Ashley still waving with that big, idiotic smile.

"Never mind that," she muttered. "It’s just a few steps out of the gate. What’s the big deal?"

With that, she smiled back at Ashley before rolling up the window and driving away.

Ashley kept waving, standing on her toes, her neck stretched as she watched the car roll away. When Isabella was almost out of sight, her hand dropped, and her smile faded a bit.

"Sucks..." she clicked her tongue and faced the guards forming a human barricade. "Why are you guys standing like that?"

All of them wore sour expressions.

"Why are you even asking?" Red remarked, no longer afraid to voice his thoughts after what she put them through yesterday. "Also, are you seriously asking her to co back here? Don’t you know what that woman did?"

She puffed her cheeks and ignored him, turning to the small guardhouse at the side. "The next ti that car shows up, shoot the tires before it can reach the mansion."

Surprise appeared on the guards’ faces, only for her to chuckle.

"The big boss said she’s banned from entering the mansion, but she’s my sister. Isabella was never told no growing up, so it’ll break her heart," she explained. "So next ti, when you spot her from a distance, shoot her tires and call a tow company."

Her smile was still there, but sohow, it didn’t reach her eyes. "Let’s work smart, people."

Having said that, she skipped back toward the mansion, leaving everyone flabbergasted by her logic.

"I don’t know if that is stupid..." one of the guards beside Red muttered, his eyes trailing Ashley. "...or it’s actually genius."
