He was so shocked that he dropped his luggage and started running.
But he had only run a few steps when one of the burly n rushed after him and violently pushed him back.
Dr. Du’s face turned white as he looked at Ye Lu, "What... what do you want to do?"
Ye Lu stood far back: "I don’t want to waste words with you. I need you to testify; to confirm that Yuan Jiayin’s pregnancy was a lie, that she bribed you during your ti in prison, leading you to deceive Shang Jingchen."
"I have no idea what you’re talking about!" Dr. Du played dumb.
He knew the rules of the ga well. Yuan Jiayin had given him so much money; if he spills her secrets, she’ll surely kill him first. She’s a cruel woman capable of doing anything.
"You don’t know? You think I brought these n here to for show? Go ahead, break his legs first," Ye Lu ordered in a bored tone.
A man carrying an iron rod approached, aiming at his legs.
Feeling powerless, Dr. Du gritted his teeth: "I’m still willing to help you, but Yuan Jiayin paid five million. If you give six million, I will help you. Otherwise, I’m taking too much of a risk and it’s simply not worth it."
Ye Lu instantly recalled Shang Jingchen trying to push her down the stairs. Guilt, rage, and disbelief seethed inside her. This scumbag was framing her, nearly getting her child killed, and yet he still wanted money.
"Would you do it for fifty-thousand?" she asked, a smile spreading across her face.
"Are you mad? Fifty-thousand? You think you are giving charity to a beggar? At the very least, it should be five million, not a cent less," Dr. Du sneered. He considered the woman in front of him to be nothing more than a cheapskate trying to buy his loyalty.
"Fifty-thousand is already too much for a low-life like you. Alright, you don’t want it? I’ve saved myself so money."
Ye Lu shrugged and gestured to the thugs.
"Here’s fifty-thousand for you to split amongst yourselves. I just need you to find ways to torture him, to beat him close to death, but don’t actually kill him. Five million? Forget about whether I have that money, even if I did, I wouldn’t give it to a scumbag like this. You may start now!"
She turned her back and shut her eyes, unwilling to let her child witness the bloody scene.
She was not afraid to resort to such thods anymore. People could cruelly fra her, but she couldn’t tolerate it any longer. To deal with such people, she had to harden her heart and stop at nothing.
Soon, screams filled the air. After enduring a few blows, Dr. Du started begging for rcy.
"I agree, just get them to stop hitting ." He decided to surrender first, then find a way to trick this woman later on.
Ye Lu, however, coldly gazed into the night, ignoring his pleas and letting the thugs continue their assault. They beat him until he was barely breathing, unable to even scream.
Only then did Ye Lu leisurely turn around and signal the thugs to stop.
Dr. Du lay on the ground, his face swollen and bruised, his entire body injured.
Ye Lu walked over and viciously stepped on his face, a deadly cold surrounding her: "Don’t think you can fool easily. Let tell you, a woman who has no money and is pushed to the edge is the most dangerous. Yuan Jiayin may not dare to kill you, but I am capable of doing anything. You know why? Because I’ve already lost everything and have nothing further to fear. Do you understand what I’m saying?"
She had already lost two beloved children. If Yuan Jiayin’s sches succeed, she would be imprisoned for life.
Reality had pushed her to the brink. There was nothing left to fear. All she wanted was revenge, to make those people who bullied her pay a price! Even if this resulted in her death, she would make sure they would also find hell.
Dr. Du, having taken such a beating, was trembling in fear.
