Idiot, if he did everything, then what would she do!

She needed to hurry up.

...

Three days later, she had just returned from battle preparation training and, after a shower, the doorbell rang.

A black car was parked in front, and a soldier with a gun opened the door. Soone unexpected appeared—it was the Secretary-General of the Councilman’s office, a key figure deeply trusted by the Councilman, holding a high position.

Jun Yiyi’s heart raced, and she couldn’t help but feel wary and tense.

Such a person personally inviting her, it goes without saying, the real person who wanted to see her was Councilman Halian Jing.

Once in the car, she speculated on the reason behind the Councilman’s sudden eting. Was it because she had been too prominent lately, and he started suspecting her, wanting to warn or even punish her? Over the past three years, although this person had never summoned her nor given her any orders, Jun Yiyi knew he would undoubtedly have soone monitor her every move, not allowing her to overstep her bounds.

So, this eting might not bode well.

She nervously clenched her palms.

By the ti she reached the Councilman’s office, it was already ten at night. Halian Jing was still working, dismissing everyone until only the two of them were left.

"Jun Yiyi, you certainly have so skills, and you’re quite bold!"

Listening to his flat and deep voice, which actually harbored intense pressure and anger, even the usually composed Jun Yiyi felt a strong sense of oppression, making her instinctively tense up.

Could it be that he had discovered her intentions and knew about those secret plans she plotted in private?

But no matter what, she couldn’t reveal any surprise at being caught.

"Thank you for the praise, Councilman. Although I don’t know what you’re referring to, any young person striving for a promising future without skills and courage would be useless!" Her voice was steady, with not a hint of fear.

"A promising future? If that’s your reason for painstakingly joining the military, then that’s quite ambitious," the Councilman couldn’t help but be sarcastic.

"Besides, having a small personal goal shouldn’t be too much, right?" Jun Yiyi half-true, half-falsely replied, thinking that the Councilman might not actually know what she was up to. After all, her relationship with Professor Du Le was probably beyond anyone’s guess.

But surely, he’d heard from subordinates about the capabilities of her battle team. Even if he thought she was a dangerous bomb, with such a sharp team, he wouldn’t let it go; at least, he’d use it against the Queen’s faction before truly dealing with her.

Before the war ended, her safety was presumably secure.

"I don’t care about your motives." The Councilman suddenly sighed sowhat powerlessly, looked deeply at her, and said, "I summoned you today because there is sothing I need you to do."

"What is it?" Could it be that he wanted her to resign from her military position? Or was there so condition she needed to et to continue staying in the team?

"No need to look so wary. I’m asking, as a father, for you to visit my child."

"What? Is sothing wrong with him?" Jun Yiyi asked anxiously.

"In the recent victory, he exhausted himself planning every step, personally overseeing and commanding every detail without rest. Over ti, the accumulated fatigue got to him, and once the battle was won, he fell ill."

Jun Yiyi felt a tightness in her chest, a pang of pain rising from deep within. Since arriving in this world, apart from being severely injured on the battlefield that one ti, she had never seen him fall.
