However, I am curious to see what this guy can co up with as an explanation.

Unexpectedly, Ling Kong remained silent.

He did not speak to explain.

Helian Jingkong’s brows furrowed slightly, a flash of complexity flickered in his eyes, and he softened his tone.

"Ling Kong, why don’t you explain? Your tily intervention has contributed greatly, preventing further casualties and escalation of the situation. I do not doubt or mistrust you. As long as you provide a reasonable explanation, even if there’s been a breach of protocol, I won’t hold it against you. After all, matters have priorities, and even if you slightly deviated from proper procedures, you were safeguarding the interests of our Helian Family."

Helian Zheng and his son were furious when they heard this. Helian Nan was especially upset. He had been reprimanded for not notifying the higher-ups before taking action, while Ling Kong interfered in the area under his responsibility and violated the procedural rules, yet it was overlooked.

His uncle is simply too partial to this kid.

It seems unlikely today to provoke Ling Kong. With his uncle’s biased heart, it’s futile. Such a good opportunity gone to waste.

"Father, this matter is rely a coincidence. An acquaintance of mine happened to be nearby, noticed the situation, and inford , that’s all." Ling Kong explained calmly.

But the content of his words was so mundane that it was hard to believe. Just because of this coincidental reason, he just happened to be involved in this thrilling event at the crucial mont.

Initially, Helian Zheng and his son were downcast, feeling they had no chance to get at Ling Kong, but upon hearing this, they imdiately perked up. They never expected him to spout such nonsense about coincidences at such a ti. Who would believe that?

It’s clear to any discerning person that it’s absolutely impossible to be that simple.

Is this Ling Kong an idiot? Even if he’s going to make an excuse, he should co up with sothing more plausible. This ’I happened to pass by’ is the poorest excuse.

Father and son sneered, finding his unconvincing explanation self-destructive.

"Ling Kong, do you think your uncle is a fool? To co up with such a perfunctory excuse," Helian Zheng sarcastically remarked out loud.

Helian Zheng reprimanded, "Nephew, it’s not that your uncle is faulting you, but you’re too arrogant. It’s clear that your elder brother is seriously discussing this important and urgent matter with you, and you’re coming up with nonsense that not even a ghost would believe. You’re showing such disrespect to your elder brother!"

The elder councilman, Helian Jing, also did not look pleased. As soone who has mingled for decades and experienced many things and people over his decades of life, how could he not discern whether Ling Kong’s words were the truth or just an excuse?

It was clear he didn’t want to reveal the real reason, hiding sothing.

He couldn’t help but feel disappointed. He did trust Ling Kong, and even if the kid had overstepped in this matter and possibly wanted to take credit from Helian Nan, he wasn’t too concerned. After all, a man doing great things should have so ans, whether overt or covert, whether legal or not wasn’t important, what mattered was the result.

But Ling Kong, deep down, won’t truly trust him, hence why he refused to disclose the true reason?

This made him quite disappointed.

"Ling Kong, is this your explanation?" he looked at Ling Kong.

Ling Kong’s expression remained calm, "Yes, it’s just a coincidence. Father, can you not even grant this bit of trust? I have absolutely no intention of harming the Helian Family."

Both Helian Zheng and his son snorted.

Helian Jing sighed, "Forget it. Let’s not pursue this matter further."
