"But the pain you’re in right now... it seems you’ll have to endure this for a long while. It will be very hard for you." He had seen many pregnant won in labor, but cases as agonizing as hers were rare.
It was probably because of the twins, also due to the induced labor, and even more because she had endured so much hardship throughout her pregnancy, both physically and ntally.
Even now, her heart was likely still aching. After waiting all this ti, anticipating the birth of her child, the person she had desperately been waiting for was still nowhere to be seen.
"I... I can endure it. I will get through this," Ye Lu forced a pale smile.
But in the very next second, her face twisted as the contractions ca back, causing her to curl up her body. Her brows furrowed tightly, and her fingers clung desperately to the corner of the blanket, trembling and freezing rigid.
This round of contractions lasted over ten minutes. By the ti relief ca, Ye Lu felt as though she’d co back from the brink of death.
Dr. K let out a sigh. "Should I discreetly inform your family and have soone co to be with you? Even just one person would do."
During childbirth, won are at their most fragile. Their hearts beco especially brittle and overwheld, no matter how strong they are.
They need family support so much—love and encouragent—to give them strength, to be there beside them.
Ye Lu was startled and imdiately shook her head, her tone hastened. "No, absolutely do not notify them. I can handle this alone. I will survive it."
The fact that she had induced labor was known only to Dr. K.
She never intended to tell her family. First, because they would try to stop her from doing this; second, because they would figure out her intentions, and she knew it would make them furious.
She also didn’t want them to worry.
Though she felt exhausted, though she suffered intensely both physically and emotionally, and though she deeply wished her loved ones could be at her side,
she couldn’t allow herself to do so.
She had already co this far. No matter how difficult, she could only continue down this path on her own.
"Alright. If you change your mind, just let know," Dr. K said.
Ye Lu shook her head. "I won’t regret this. Oh, and give so food to restore my energy. I need to eat sothing to keep my strength up."
Dr. K instructed the female doctor to bring so high-calorie food, then the two of them left.
Seizing the mont as the contractions eased, Ye Lu hurriedly ate so food.
She picked up a stick of chocolate. She didn’t have any appetite at all, but she desperately needed energy. She feared the pain might drag on for too long, and when the ti finally ca to give birth, she wouldn’t have the strength—now that would be a disaster.
She had to deliver naturally. It had to be a natural delivery.
Otherwise, everything she had planned would be impossible to execute. She needed to deceive the Godfather, to make him believe that she was still pregnant, to lower his vigilance, so she could get closer to him.
And so, she forced herself to eat bite after bite,
but as she chewed on the chocolate, sitting on the hospital bed, her shoulders suddenly began to tremble uncontrollably, and she burst into tears. Her emotions collapsed all at once, and tears stread endlessly.
She didn’t even know why she was crying.
Maybe it was prenatal depression.
Or maybe it was the heartache of not being able to see the person she wanted to see.
She cried as she chewed her food, tears fell nonstop onto the food, but she still forced herself to eat everything on the tray through sobs.
Then, she wiped away her tears, lay down, and silently kept enduring the contractions.

Third Young Master Jun walked out of the bar.
The midnight glimr lit up the city. This street of bars was drenched in decadence, laughter and sounds of revelry echoed, as though this were the happiest place in the world.
Yet, every person who drank here ca to drown their sorrows, as though this were the most painful place in the world.
Lie Feng hadn’t accompanied him, mistakenly believing that he was here to drink away his sorrows too.
Third Young Master Jun opened his palm, revealing a few round tallic objects lying inside,
