She couldn’t help but worry. After all, she’d been injecting the dication for the past few days. Although the expected delivery date was two days away, there was no guarantee sothing unpredictable wouldn’t happen. It was better to remain cautious.

...

At the agreed-upon café, Ye Lu sat quietly in a corner by the window, ordering a cup of hot milk tea. Her makeup was exquisite, her outfit beautiful; she sat there full of hopeful anticipation, waiting anxiously.

The delicate features of her face radiated with a bright and sunny smile—the kind of happy expression that resembled soone nervously yet blissfully waiting for their lover. Even passersby couldn’t help but glance at her, thinking she was so stunning, her beauty glowing genuinely from within.

anwhile, Dr. K sat in another corner nearby. His head was lowered as he focused intently on reading so advanced dical research material that he held in his hands.

He wasn’t necessarily the type of workaholic who carried docunts everywhere, even to a café.

It was just...

He raised his eyes and cast a complicated glance at Ye Lu’s radiant face. For a rare mont, a twinge of pity stirred within his heart.

Even though Third Young Master Jun had given up hope for treatnt, seeing this woman who was still fighting with all her might for the man she loved—striving against all odds to seize even the faintest glimr of hope—filled him with conflicting admiration. She remained steadfast in her hope, and unwavering in her determination.

So, even though he had always been soone who cared little about whether patients lived or died—thinking, "If they don’t want to live, it’s none of my business"—this ti, sothing different stirred within him. A determination he’d never felt before.

He wanted to save Third Young Master.

However, ti was indeed tight. As a result, Dr. K not only looked after Ye Lu but also devoted every spare mont to research, sifting through various relevant dical docunts.

After reading dozens of pages, he picked up his coffee, took a sip, and glanced at his watch. To his surprise, over two hours had passed—he’d been imrsed in his work for so long.

Hmm, Ye Lu and Third Young Master Jun must have been talking for a while by now. It was probably ti to leave.

He raised his head and looked over at Ye Lu’s seat.

But what he saw startled him. She was sitting there alone, holding her milk, her head turned toward the window in a daze.

Dr. K blinked, not seeing any sign of Third Young Master Jun.

"Did he co and leave already?" He walked over and couldn’t help asking in confusion.

Ye Lu snapped out of her daze and turned her head. A faint, forced smile crossed her flawless face, a stark contrast to her earlier radiant, cheerful expression. She appeared slightly disappointed but still smiled as she spoke.

"Not yet. Maybe... maybe he got stuck in traffic on the way here!" she said with a smile, clutching her now-cold milk tightly.

Dr. K frowned and looked out at the road outside the window. This area was relatively secluded, and there were few cars passing by. Besides, this city was laid-back; even in the city center, traffic jams were rare. Moreover, it wasn’t rush hour right now!

Two hours, and he still hadn’t shown up. No excuse should justify this.

"Did you call him? You should remind him. For a date, how can a man leave a woman waiting here for so long? It’s completely unreasonable."

And she was pregnant at that! Didn’t Third Young Master adore his wife? Yet he’d let Ye Lu wait here for two whole hours with no sign of him.

Ye Lu’s gaze dimd, a hint of bitterness flickering in her eyes. But she pretended not to mind.

"I... I tried calling. But his phone wouldn’t connect. Maybe... his phone just happened to run out of battery!"

Dr. K stared at her skeptically. Really? That much of a coincidence?

But since Ye Lu herself said so, as an outsider, he had no choice but to let it go. He returned to his seat and resud reading his docunts.

anwhile, Ye Lu continued gazing out the window. But the excitent and anticipation that had initially lit up her bright eyes had faded. Now, as she watched cars speed by rcilessly—none of them stopping—they seed increasingly dim.
