Shang Jingchen suddenly stood still, his icy gaze boring into her with a mix of sarcasm and fury.

"I need to ask you, what exactly is going on? Hah, Ye Lu, I’ve really underestimated you."

She could feel her heart tremble as his frigid, spiteful stare forced her to step back. It was as if he wanted to kill her.

"What do you an?" Her unease was becoming more palpable.

Shang Jingchen’s anger mounted. "Wretched woman, quit playing innocent! My grandfather would never agree to this. You’re quite crafty, winning over my grandfather in just two weeks. I’m curious, how did you pull it off? Speak up!"

Ye Lu turned pale, she was completely taken aback and shook her head in panic.

"What nonsense are you talking about? I haven’t done anything."

She was totally unaware of Old Master Shang’s decision. During her usual chats with him, he did not hint at anything about marriage. She was rather taken aback by Old Sir Shang’s announcent.

"Nothing, really? Then why do you act so well-behaved when eting my grandfather? It’s nothing like your crude behavior in front of my mother and other relatives."

Shang Jingchen harshly grabbed her chin, squeezing it with such force that her face flushed with pain.

"You’re a scheming woman, a hundred tis more cunning than anyone else. You didn’t set your sights on , nor on my mother, but on my grandfather! Because you knew he was the one who could help you marry into wealth, right? You gold-digging wretch, utterly disgusting."

Shang Jingchen gritted his teeth in hatred, blindsided by her perfidious stab in the back.

He had always regarded her disinterested deanor towards him as a sign that she genuinely wanted to help him.

How could he have forgotten how greedy she was, willing to do anything for money? Ten million could never satiate her greed, she aspired to beco Madam Shang and amass an even larger fortune.

"I didn’t, let go..." Ye Lu, her mind in a whirl, struggled desperately.

She couldn’t comprehend why things escalated to this point, she felt a deep sense of foreboding.

It seed like she had fallen into a horrific vortex, sinking deeper with each step.

"Ye Lu, don’t even think about marrying . I will only marry Jiayin. You won’t have a good ending, you manipulative gold-digger."

Shang Jingchen stord off, leaving behind him an unsettled air.

The sudden turn of events tonight left Ye Lu feeling as if she had been battered by a storm. Her entire body was weak, she collapsed onto the sofa, her mind a complete blank.

After being dazed for a while, she suddenly ca to senses, her pupils shrinking.

No way, she couldn’t allow herself to be wronged like this. She had to find out what was going on.

Ye Lu hurriedly returned to the study, seeking Old Sir Shang.

"Old sir, I can’t marry Shang Jingchen." She explained urgently.

Old Sir Shang made a pot of tea and handed it to her with a kind smile.

"Don’t be hasty, sit down and tell everything."

"Do you know that he already has a woman he loves? And it’s not ." Taking a deep breath, Ye Lu gritted her teeth and decided to co clean, "I’m sorry, I lied to everyone. Our relationship was a ruse, he doesn’t care about at all, it was all for show."

"I know that." Old Sir Shang nodded in response.

Ye Lu was taken aback, her heart pounding. He had known all along. This developnt was entirely unexpected.

"Then why did you agree? Don’t you want your grandson to be happy?"
