After aimlessly walking out of the hotel, she hopped into a taxi and just told the driver to go. She didn’t know for how long they drove as she numbly watched the night pass by outside the window, and then she pointed to a spot for the driver to stop.
Getting out of the cab, she stumbled down a quiet alley.
Walking along the roadside for about a kiloter, she ca to a dilapidated house at the end of the alley, fronted by several large, shady trees.
Over the years, she had never had a permanent ho, moving from place to place across the city, but this was where she and her mother had lived the longest.
Ye Lu touched the dust-covered, tightly locked door.
This was the only place that felt like ho to her, but it still wasn’t really a ho, as it was only her and her mother, not a complete family.
