Back ho, he sterilized a cooking ladle with his fla, poured warm gel into Sphere 1, and injected spores. He sealed the access rune.

The microbes looked like flickers of green dust swirling inside the gel. Kent set the sphere on a cradle and attached a heat rune with adjustable dial.

He started Prototype Cycle 0: Room temp 4 h.

System pinged within minutes:

[New Emotional Source detected]

Feeling: Mild Curiosity 2, 2 2…. SP.

Kent whooped. "They're alive. And they feel."

He cooled the sphere for six hours, no fresh nutrients. At hour three, microbes darkened, movent sluggish.

System pinged:

Distress 1, 2, 1 , 2… SP

Distress 1, 2, 1 , 2… SP

Kent flipped the feed valve, letting a thread of fresh gel flow. Within seconds, microbes glowed soft turquoise and swam vigorously.

Joy 2 SP

Relief 2 SP

He scribbled numbers. One small colony, one cycle, 80 SP. He clapped. "Scale this to billions, and…" He whistled low. "Endless fuel."

At dinner Aunty Zhou served vegetable dumplings. Kent felt buoyant. He shared a simplified story: "I bought science spheres. Growing tiny helpers that will make good fertilizer for the garden."

Nima blinked. "Mini-pets?"

Kent shrugged. "Kind of."

Xian Yu eyed him but chose trust.

Kent stood on the porch after dishes. Field rows rustled in the breeze. In the shed the sphere pulsed gentle green.

Kent thinks, Next: Sphere prototype 01, bigger colony, automate cycles with a tir rune. Then keep the SP farm running.

A star shot across the sky. Money Immortal smiled, already counting tomorrow's harvest of feelings and maybe so carrots from his backyard.

A few hours later…

Soon sunlight poured through Kent's window and woke him before the rooster icon on his alarm rune crowed. He sat up fast, half afraid the new micro-farm might have exploded in the night. But the house was quiet. Only Auri's soft "chip-chip" ca from the dresser, where the bird cleaned his growing scarlet tail.

Kent slipped on boots and padded to the shed. Inside, Sphere 1 glowed a steady mint-green on its cradle. A tiny digital counter above the rune showed: Cycles Completed: 4

He touched the glass. Warm, but not hot. Inside, the bacteria swirled like swarms of glitter. He opened the System overlay:

Daily Summary – Sphere 1

Distress → 180 SP

Relief → 210 SP

Joy → 190 SP

Total → 580 SP

Kent grinned. "One grapefruit-size globe, half a day, six hundred points. Not bad at all. My goal is to reach 10 million SP each day."

He still had to hit ten million soday, but this was a seed.

Nima poked her head around the door. Her hair beca a wild bird nest, she squinted at the mint glow. "Is that your tiny science pet?" she asked, yawning.

"Yep," Kent said. "And it already paid rent. Ha Ha Ha!"

Auri fluttered in and landed on her shoulder, peering in fascination. Tiny sparks flew off his feathers and drifted harmlessly. The microbes responded, brightening for a second. System pinged Curiosity 5 SP.

Kent blinked. "Phoenix spark acts like mood music? Good to know."

"Breakfast soon," Nima said, shambling toward the house. "Grandpa Xian Yu is making carrot cake."

Carrot cakes ant using the first small harvest from Snack land Garden 2.0. Kent's stomach rumbled.

At the table, while munching warm carrot cakes, Kent laid out a simple plan for Xian Yu and Nima:

Build Sphere 02 with triple the volu, base ball size, using the realm-glass globe.

Rune Tir Array to automate starve/feast cycles every three hours.

Heat-Cool Loop to add the emotion of fear and relief.

Auri's Spark to act as a joy amplifier twice a day.

Xian Yu sipped his tea, listening. "You wish to raise a farm of invisible minds?"

Kent nodded. "Yes, old man. They can help with better seeds, stronger roots. I am still doing experints. It will take ti to get so results."

The old man chuckled. "Strangest field I have known, but I have seen stranger in my youth. Just do not let them escape into the water supply. Otherwise normal people will get sick."

Nima licked honey from her fingers. "Will they bite? Can I na them?"

Kent laughed. "They are too small to bite. And there are millions in numbers, you can na the colony."

She thought a mont. "Phase 1 is 'Squishy Squad.'"

Auri chirped agreent… or maybe hunger; it stole a piece of carrot cake from Nima plate.

By noon Kent took Silver Muse to town. Auri ca along, eager for wind rides. Nima stayed behind to guard both gardens with the Forsaken disciples.

First stop: Rune Hardware Market. Kent bought:

Mini heat rune plates (x3).

Cool-fog rune stones (x3).

A 6-slot tir core.

Cost: $3200.

Second stop: Teaching Lab Shop next to the college. Items:

High-density nutrient gel (two liters).

Micro-pipette set.

Pack of dream-sand dust (legal in small amounts).

Cost: $1400.

Finally, a stall run by a tiny granny, wearing old clothes. She recognized Kent at once. Kent and she used to go to the sa market to set up stalls.

"Young man, you have beco so big! Bless my old bones." She produced a small pouch of Mushroom Mycelium Accelerator.

"Gift," she said. "Just rember Granny when you eat your first mushroom."

Kent bowed, grateful. Auri offered a spark that drew a laugh from the old cultivator.

Back ho, Kent washed hands, sterilized tools with Auri's fla, and cleared a bigger shelf in the shed. Xian Yu hovered nearby, curious.

Step-by-step:

Cork popped, the sphere opened; he poured in the nutrient gel until half-full.

Added spores of soil bacteria plus a sprinkle of dream-sand.

Mixed in a pinch of mushroom accelerator the tiny white threads spread through the gel.

Mounted heat runes on one side, cool-fog stones opposite.

Wired everything to the tir: Starve for two hours at mild heat, cool-fog feast for one hour.

He sealed the access rune. Sphere prototype 02 pulsed pale purple, then steadied into soft teal.

System overlay:

[Ding! System notifications: Micro-Colony Established

Population: 2 million cells

Mood: Neutral (No emotions awaken)]

"Neutral doesn't pay," Kent muttered. He spun the tir, clicked Start.

Heat cycle engaged. After thirty minutes, System pinged:

Unease 25 SP

Distress 31 SP

Kent grinned. When the cool cycle triggered, the teal deepened; cells zipped fast. "Only a handful of them are capable of showing emotions."

Joy 40 SP

Relief 43 SP

Grandpa nodded slowly. "Invisible choir indeed."

At dusk Kent checked the map overlay for his Forsaken disciples. Icons pulsed green across several city blocks.

Disciple 02 – chasing loan sharks again.

Disciple 07 – scaring pickpockets near tram depot.

Pings rolled in:

Fear 150 SP copied from xxx.

Sha 110 SP copied from xxx.

Regret 95 SP copied from xxx.

Kent said aloud, "Garden safe, city safer, SP wallet getting thicker. Good."

Nima ca running from the carrot plot. "Big Brother! Look!"

She pointed. New seedlings in Patch 3 had sprouted a day early, leaves faintly shot with silver threads, probably leftover thunder essence.

"They look magic," she said.

Kent crouched, inspected one leaf. "If these taste half as good as they look, high-class restaurants will fight to pay top dollar." His mind clicked numbers. "One row equals thousands of dollars… each bundle maybe I will get millions."

Nima rolled eyes. "There he goes. Day dreaming about money. Big brother, stop that."

He winked. "Money is important. Don't you rember how much we suffered."

Nima nods with a sad face. Rembering how Kent didn't eat for days. When they ran away from the orphanage.

After dinner Kent entered the bedroom, closed the door, and summoned the Immortal Assembly chat:

Money Immortal: "Thanks for realm-glass advice, seniors. My experint is going well."

Thousand-Petal Fairy: "Not bad for bacteria. Raise the dream-sand by ten grains, you'll see stronger fear spikes."

Laughing Thunder Duke: "Ha! Give them mild electric shocks; fear becos terror!"

Moss-Roof Granny: "Gentle, children. We nurture, not torture."

Money Immortal: "Balance is key. Too much fear and they die, no points. Question: best rune to count emotional waves automatically?"

Gold-Core Carpenter: "Puppet-scribe rune. Costs high, but prints a tally sheet."

Kent bookmarked that, maybe after the next harvest.

Close to midnight, a soft knock tapped Kent's window. He slid it open. Disciple 05 stood on the sill, robes slling of alley muck.

"Master," the man whispered, eyes glittering, "We captured a corrupt inspector. He took bribes, hurt street vendors. We have not punished him yet, awaiting your word."

Kent rubbed temples. "Any physical wounds?"

"None. rely bound."

Kent thought of SP but also of headlines. "Scare him. Make him sign confession. Then deliver him, unhard, to the local Watcher gate. Leave evidence in his pouch."

Disciple 05 bowed and vanished into the night.

System beep:

Trepidation (Inspector) 210 SP copied.

Regret 190 SP copied.

Kent exhaled. "Tomorrow's news will be lively."

At 2 a.m. an alarm rune pinged red. Sphere 02's heat coil stuck on, temperature rising.

Kent sprinted to the shed in pajama pants. Inside, gel near the coil turned yellow. System flashed:

Population crash risk!
