It was a sunny day.

The kind of day that made you want to bask in the warmth, doing nothing but lazing around under the golden rays.

"I wanted to ta books, not be a librarian," a man grumbled, rhythmically swiping a dusting whip across a book’s surface.

The book appeared ordinary, bound in plain black leather, unmarked and unassuming. But as the dust cleared, its surface revealed a faint sheen, almost mirror-like, reflecting his gleaming blue pupils.

That alone hinted at its high quality.

After finishing his task, he stood up from the wooden chair and walked forward. Each step made the floor beneath him creak softly as he reached the window and gazed outside.

The streets were bustling with activity. Gentlen in sharp black suits strolled alongside ladies in elegant corsets, all moving with purpose beneath the pale afternoon sun.

Eryke the Second shook his head with a sigh, turned away from the window, and walked back to the shelves. Step by step, he returned to the books and resud dusting them off, one by one.

Suddenly, several heads popped up by the windows, every one of them belonged to a woman. Their sparkling eyes were fixed on him and almost felt heated...

’Sigh, at least co into the library if you’re going to ogle at ,’ he grumbled inwardly.

Just then, a voice echoed:

"Grey, did you dust off all the books already?"

Grey, Eryke the Second, sighed hearing the sound.

"Yeah, I’m dusting them off right now, Lucy!"

"You’d better be," ca Lucy’s stern reply. "Or you know..."

Grey calmly shook his head, "Okay, okay! I’m on it!"

Monts later, after finishing the last pile, he gave the books one final pat, a satisfied look spreading across his face.

"As good as new," he declared proudly.

Nodding in satisfaction, he leaned back, resting his neck against the arms of the chair. His eyes wandered around the library, rows upon rows of shelves stocked full of books, yet not a single soul in sight.

Silence.

"Sigh... this library is a failing business in the Book Taming World, quite ironic."

He lounged lazily as ti slipped by in the blink of an eye.

What felt like re monts later, the moon had already risen, casting its silver light across the empty streets. Darkness blanketed the city, and the once-bustling roads now lay silent and vacant.

He changed his spot to the front counter, still waiting for a custor who might never co.

With a sigh, he closed the front door and flipped the sign to "Open" from "Closed".

Shrugging it off, he turned and headed toward the back door. But before he could even touch the handle, he heard a series of soft, mischievous giggles echoing from within.

He opened the door and called out imdiately:

"Are you drawing sothing sketchy in your Grimoire again, Lucy?"

The mont the door creaked open, a bright light spilled into his vision. He squinted, quickly focusing on the figure at the center of it all, a young woman giggling like a madwoman as she scribbled furiously with a quill pen in what looked like a perfectly ordinary book.

But Grey, who could now finally sense spiritual energy, could only frown inwardly.

A faint blue spiritual aura surrounded the quill as Lucy carefully inscribed words into the Grimoire.

With each stroke she made, the aura intensified—growing steadily until it swelled to nearly a foot in size.

"You’re going to die of spiritual exhaustion if you keep this up!" Grey warned urgently.

But she didn’t listen.

She simply smiled and completed the final stroke.

Bang!

The spiritual aura surged to its peak and then exploded, erupting through the room in a brilliant flash.

Grey’s head spun. Disoriented, he staggered, barely managing to stay on his feet.

"What the hell did you write in your Grimoire?!" he shouted, staring at her in disbelief.

Lucy collapsed onto the table with a dull thud, a hiccup escaping her lips along with the unmistakable stench of alcohol.

Grey instinctively stepped forward, but the overwhelming scent of booze hit him like a punch to the face, forcing him to recoil.

"Lucy, this woman is seriously vengeful," he muttered, rubbing his temples. "And she’s using a cursed Grimoire too. I wonder who the unfortunate souls are that got targeted..."

He glanced at the glowing bronze-colored book still faintly buzzing with residual energy as it floated in the air.

"Thankfully, it’s only bronze-tier. She shouldn’t be able to kill anyone... probably."

He sighed deeply, watching her slump further across the desk.

"So she made work all day while she got herself drunk and now she might not even be able to train ?"

Another sigh escaped him, this one louder, heavier, and much more resigned.

He walked forward and gently lifted Lucy, carrying her to the bed and laying her down with care.

"Grey, did those won still look at you funny?" she murmured, half-conscious, her breath reeking of alcohol.

When he had first arrived in this world, it was this pony-tailed woman, Lucy, who approached him with a helping hand. His handso appearance shined like the bright star when she had cleaned him up, bathed him, and provided him with food and shelter.

She was also the one who had given him the na: Grey.

For a ti, he simply worked at the library. Though his strength was far from ordinary, he kept it hidden.

This city wasn’t the kind of place where power could be shown off freely, not with the Grand Book Master watching over everything, here in the capital of the Asher Kingdom.

(See Chapter 83 for reference)

So, he learned more about this place and from his discoveries, Grey uncovered the full details.

True to its na, the Book Taming world was ho to various Grimoires that users could ta, ranked by tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.

Each Grimoire was unique, possessing its own attributes and powers. Just like Lucy’s Curse Grimoire, many others existed with different abilities.
