Betty felt that everything at Imon Restaurant was great—the salary was high, the work relatively easy, and Chen Ze didn’t use any harsh "715" asures to oppress his employees. However, the only downside was that she often beca the test subject for the manager’s taste-testing. Every ti this happened, she felt an overwhelming urge to quit, wracked by pain and misery.
Though there were also so very delicious dishes, it seed that the ones Chen Ze brought out for her to taste-test were rarely among them.
"I don’t, I refuse, I won’t eat it!" Betty decisively fired off three refusals in a row, lacking any desire to eat the gooey substance she was being presented with.
"It’s really tasty, trust ," Chen Ze said, though his expression... really didn’t give Betty the courage to believe him.
Looking at Betty’s face, set in a rigid death-before-dishonor expression, Chen Ze felt sowhat helpless. He knew this white substance streaked with dark brown looked utterly unappetizing, but he hadn’t expected Betty to be so resolute in her refusal.
"How about this: if you eat it, I’ll give you five hundred Gold Coins," proposed Chen Ze. He had no intention of tasting it himself—this failed culinary experint was not sothing he wanted to try—but without tasting it, he couldn’t work on improving it.
"This..." Hesitation flickered across Betty’s face.
"One thousand Gold Coins, that’s my final offer. If you’re not willing, then I’ll taste it myself," Chen Ze laid his cards out on the table.
"Deal," Betty agreed very promptly, but she regretted it the mont she took the dish in hand.
The white, sticky food mixed with plenty of dark brown bits instantly made her think of unsavory things.
"Um... can I take it back?" Betty’s inner self was screaming in turmoil, feeling utterly unable to stomach such food.
"You take the money, you deal with the catastrophe, right?" Chen Ze cheerfully rejected Betty’s request.
With a look of anguished protest, Betty nevertheless gritted her teeth and, with a fork, speared a piece and shoved it into her mouth.
The taste was indescribable. In that mont, Betty felt as if she were surrounded by a swarm of tiny bugs, her entire body turning numb.
The white, sticky substance was sowhat hard yet also collapsing in her mouth as if soone had mixed sand into jelly, Betty thought.
Moreover, it was really sticky to the teeth. The dark brown bits tasted alright, with hints of atiness, but combined with the white substance, the overall experience was just terrible.
"How does it taste?" Chen Ze excitedly inquired.
Betty pointed to her mouth; she was still chewing the white stuff.
Then Chen Ze waited a full two minutes, and after those two minutes, Betty finally managed to swallow it down.
"How does it feel?" Chen Ze asked again.
"Sticky, not tasty, but the at is good. This white thing is just too yucky, ugh..." Betty grabbed a can of Coke to rinse her mouth, feeling that if she didn’t eat sothing else soon, she might vomit from the disgust.
"So it seems like I can’t use that for the crispy rice crust either," Chen Ze stroked his chin, sinking into thought once more.
Betty imdiately crawled out; she felt that if she stayed any longer, she might be used as a guinea pig again, and that would be quite troubleso.
Chen Ze continued to study the crispy rice dish for a while, but he still hadn’t made any progress. However, he felt he was getting closer to his target. With a few more trials, he might achieve so success.
"Manager, do you have any tasty dishes today? Oh right, I’ve fulfilled the promise I made to you last ti." The sound of wind chis and Hastur’s voice echoed in, exciting Chen Ze instantly.
Previously, Hastur had promised to bring a dragon for Chen Ze to use as an ingredient next ti he visited, so Chen Ze was very much looking forward to it, wondering what kind of dragon Hastur would bring.
"Hahaha, Hastur, what would you like to eat? At the mont, I recomnd you try my new dish, the Dreamy Chocolate Cake, and the improved Leek Dumplings. The flavors of these two dishes are quite excellent," Chen Ze said with a laugh as he walked out, rubbing his hands together excitedly.
"First, I’ll give you the ingredient. This guy is a notorious one, a dragon that’s been disowned by the Dragon Clan." Hastur reached out, grabbing sothing, but hesitated for a mont and didn’t imdiately bring the item out.
"This thing’s too big; it probably won’t fit here in your restaurant. I’ll just put it in a Space Ring for you," Hastur thought that if he took out the dragon, it might trigger so strange reaction from the restaurant’s magical Magic Circle.
Then, Hastur took out a stone from his bosom, glanced at it, and the stone turned into a silver ring, making Chen Ze’s mouth twitch.
But soon enough, Chen Ze saw his ingredient, a huge Red Dragon with no wounds on its body, staring ahead with a dull gaze and completely unresponsive.
"Are you sure this thing’s dead?" Chen Ze raised an eyebrow; this thing seed more like a salted fish that had lost its dreams.
"Dead. I whispered a few words in its ear, and then it died. I captured its soul to use as my mount. I thought that Ghost Dragon ga you were playing was quite interesting," Hastur answered simply, but it made Chen Ze’s stomach ache a little.
"Alright, then I’ll make you so food," Chen Ze pocketed the ring. He planned to deal with the enormous dragon later; for now, he would prepare the dishes Hastur needed.
"Let think... beef rice with Leek Dumplings, and one Dreamy Chocolate Cake. That should do," Chen Ze picked up the kitchen knife, then took the premium Wagyu beef from the storage stone and began preparing Hastur’s dish.
"Lord Hastur, what kind of dragon did you slay?" Betty was very curious. Whether in other worlds or in gas, novels, and movies, dragons are always portrayed as powerful creatures, often with vast treasures. Dragon slayers even beco a title in their own right.
"A Red Dragon, called Calamity Ghenon. But that’s all there is to it," Hastur took the lemon water Betty brought over, swaying her long legs leisurely and took a slow sip.
"That na does sound sowhat familiar," Betty touched her nose, feeling like she had heard the title Calamity Ghenon sowhere before.
"What about its treasure?" However, Betty quickly refocused on the main issue. Such a notorious evil dragon must have a lot of treasure, right?
"Treasure? I used it all playing SimCity," Hastur looked at Betty strangely, and the entire Magic Capital now had this orz expression due to this Succubus.
"So this is what a whale looks like..."
