"Is this chicken chanterelle?" Xie BiAn tasted sothing in his rice and excitedly asked Fan Wujiu.

"Mm." Fan Wujiu nodded, eating his rice in big mouthfuls.

"It’s really... It’s been so long since I’ve had such amazing chicken chanterelle. The last ti I ate..." Xie BiAn fell silent, smiled, shook his head, and then continued eating.

They had been Ghost ssengers for who knows how many years, and now to still reminisce about the feelings from when they were human, that must be what’s called nostalgia.

Fan Wujiu ate his rice without a word, but smiled after seeing Xie BiAn at ease.

To him, having a restaurant where they could once again enjoy fine food was a blessing, so there was nothing else to ask for.

However...

Fan Wujiu glanced once more at the front entrance, then continued with his yellow-braised chicken rice.

...

"Huff... huff... Those damned hounds!" Zhu Guangming was gasping for breath. Ever since he began his persistent investigation into the case of Jeffrey Epstein, he had faced all kinds of misfortunes.

Moreover, this was the era of information technology. Although Epstein had been prepared, withdrawing his savings in advance, life was not going well.

First, his landlord took away his house with a look of avoidance. However, Zhu Guangming bore no grudge against him; he had no dependents to worry about, but the landlord did. The landlord’s little daughter was very cute.

So Zhu Guangming silently moved out, not even bothering to continue with that strange restaurant.

Then there were people from immigration who ca knocking, telling him that for violating Section 233 of the immigration regulations, he would be expelled from the country.

When Zhu Guangming inford them that Section 233 was for theft, they shoved the car keys into his hands and then charged him with theft.

Zhu Guangming naturally did not want to be captured without a fight, so he thought of a way to escape.

Fortunately, there weren’t many city surveillance, so Zhu Guangming managed to get to a safe house only he knew about and hid.

But after hacking into the dark web, he discovered a bounty on his head: five million US dollars, dead or alive.

"I knew it... that ti I went to retrieve the data and was seen, that mob guy looked at like he’d seen money." Zhu Guangming bitterly smiled and shook his head, but upon looking at the intelligence in his hands, he still couldn’t help but smile proudly.

Epstein’s diary, where he kept his accounts and his ans of survival, but how could such a person have only one diary?

Zhu Guangming did not believe so at all; he had done a psychological profile and, in his view, Epstein was a man who burrowed three holes, and one diary was not safe.

So, he spent a lot of money to get so intelligence, which, according to his deductions, was very likely related to the hidden diary.

As long as he could find that diary, Zhu Guangming believed he could bring down those high-profile figures and have them all judged.

"But those guys are not simple either..." Zhu Guangming furrowed his brow. He was just a detective, smart, yes, but he was not infallible; that was not human, but divine.

Therefore, Zhu Guangming realized a problem: the mafia’s search area was getting closer to his safe house.

"Ah... I was too impulsive last ti," Zhu Guangming sighed. He had gone to that restaurant intending just to eat, not expecting to overhear the words ’slave auction’.

But then I thought, they couldn’t possibly be those people’s henchn, at the very least, that magical door wasn’t Earthly technology.

Zhu Guangming quickly ate a sandwich, then washed his face. He needed to put on makeup, or he wouldn’t be able to walk out even five hundred ters.

However, before he could finish applying his makeup, Zhu Guangming saw the surveillance he had set up outside had been smashed.

"Damn it!" Zhu Guangming put down his makeup tools. Now, he could only grab his wallet and leave as fast as possible. Otherwise, once the pursuers entered, the only thing waiting for him would be death.

Zhu Guangming hurriedly dashed towards another hidden passage, but before he could enter, he realized the hair traps he had set up in the morning were gone.

There was only one possibility, soone had gone through this passage.

Zhu Guangming suddenly found himself in a dilemma. It was a death sentence whether he entered or not.

"Is this the end..." Zhu Guangming anxiously looked around. Death itself was not scary, but if he died, those families suffering tornt would never see the light of justice.

The criminals would roam free, and their darkness would be buried with them in their coffins.

"Clues..." Zhu Guangming sighed. The adversaries could actually find this place; they would surely blow it up to save trouble, leaving behind no loose ends.

And...

Zhu Guangming pulled out his cellphone and checked it. No signal at all; as expected, they had blocked all communications.

This was a deathtrap.

Then Zhu Guangming saw a wooden door appear before him, unexpectedly, yet, at that mont, his heart filled with joy.

Zhu Guangming didn’t have the ti to hesitate, as ti was of the essence, so he hurriedly pushed the door open and went inside.

A mont later, a group of people arrived, looking around with puzzled expressions.

"Boss, judging by the footprints, the target should have gone through this wall," a man ca out and pointed at the wall in front of them.

"It’s solid, there’s no secret door." Another person ca over with a device to scan the area, then placed the device on the ground and shook his head.

"No tunnels, no secret doors, what, did this guy master so Eastern wall-passing technique? Cut the crap, just find him. It seems like he has sothing we want. Catching him could earn us fifty million in rewards," said the leader, quite composed. He gestured and led the team out.

It wasn’t long before the entire tunnel was blown to rubble.

"Keep searching!" The man was displeased. Was the duck about to be eaten just flying away?

"Welco to Dream Restaurant~ dear guest," Betty walked over with a smile, then paused for a mont. She felt that the man looked sowhat familiar.

"Hello, Betty, bring sothing to eat, anything is fine, and a cup of tea, thank you," Zhu Guangming closed the door and found a seat to sit down.

"Um... okay, please wait a mont." Betty still didn’t recognize him, after all, his appearance was filthy, his face covered with gri.

"Tea? Sure, and give him a towel as well," Chen Ze dumped the burnt rice crusts into the trash can, then instructed Betty.

"Alright, manager," Betty nodded earnestly and went out.
