"Erlaizi..." Mrs. Yan’s attention imdiately shifted to Erlaizi. Honestly, his character was truly terrible. "Ningning, since when did you beco so close to Erlaizi, even letting him help you buy things? Don’t you know that this person..."
"Mom, I carried this basket of eggs all the way from Taohua Village, and my hands are sore."
An Ning knew what Mrs. Yan was about to say next, but she didn’t want to hear it.
Erlaizi is Erlaizi, her dad is her dad. Even if her dad hard everyone in the world, he wouldn’t harm her.
However, since her dad was now posing as Erlaizi, she didn’t want to hear others bad-mouthing Erlaizi all the ti.
An Ning deliberately rubbed her arm and placed the basket on the ground.
Just as she freed her hands, that brat Xiaoniu angled his body and lunged at her.
Luckily, An Ning quickly caught him, otherwise, he might have hit the ground.
"Sis... chew..."
The little kid was beginning to learn to talk and could slowly make single sounds, but often couldn’t articulate clearly, which sounded a bit funny. Plus, with drool running from his mouth all the ti, his chin was never dry.
An Ning straightforwardly caught him and gave his little butt a gentle pat, "Naughty boy, aren’t you afraid of falling to the ground?"
"Hehehehe..." Instead, he thought An Ning was playing with him and laughed out loud.
"Mom, let’s talk inside." An Ning said as she held Xiaoniu and walked ahead.
Mrs. Yan picked up the basket and followed them into the house.
"Third sister-in-law, what’s this..." Mrs. Zhou asked when she saw Mrs. Yan carrying a basket of eggs.
"An Ning bought so hens in Taohua Village to raise. This child has such a straightforward mind; she probably brought over all the eggs laid," she said with a complaining tone, but in her heart, Mrs. Yan was happy, especially in front of Mrs. Zhou.
The number of eggs didn’t matter much, but this showed her daughter was thoughtful and filial, and it wasn’t like they were eating at the Gao Family’s expense for two years without giving anything back.
She knew, although her marrying in with An Ning was part of the deal, and the Gao Family taking care of An Ning was a given, people would always have so murmurs in their hearts.
Frankly, with Gao’s earnings making up most of the family’s inco, even if they lost out, others wouldn’t suffer. An Ning called him dad, so he was obliged to provide for her.
Moreover, her daughter wasn’t ungrateful; the food over these two years wasn’t for nothing, as it was evident she kept them in mind.
Once inside, Mrs. Yan imdiately dropped the smile on her face and asked An Ning, "Child, quickly tell , how did you get so familiar with Erlaizi, and ask him for everything? Isn’t there anyone in our family? Even if you don’t want help from the Gao Family, don’t you still have your uncle?"
Upon hearing these persistent questions, An Ning suddenly felt overwheld.
"Wasn’t it because he saved on the mountain last ti? Gradually, we beca a bit familiar.
That day, I wanted to co back and ask Dad to help buy so hens that could lay eggs, but I happened to run into Uncle Erlai. He said he had connections and could get them much cheaper, so I asked him for help.
Later on, I thought that though Uncle Erlai hadn’t been decent these years, he at least had so connections outside. Associating with him would make things more convenient in the future.
Besides, he ntioned wanting to turn over a new leaf and do sothing proper. So, we hit it off and planned to start a farming business together. I can work while he has the connections, making buying and selling much easier."
