Fu Chenlie grabbed her hand and explained urgently, "Ranran, I’ve already made it clear to her. She wanted to hug , but I pushed her away."
"I believe you." She said.
He looked at her with so guilt in his eyes, the impatience from before dissipating, and assured her with a good temper, "I will keep my distance from her from now on, and won’t let her touch , okay?"
"If soone is determined to get close to you, no matter how you try to avoid it, it won’t work. If she tries to approach you ten tis, maybe you’ll evade her nine tis, but there will be one ti when she’ll succeed."
"So you want to fire her?"
Wen Ran’s clear eyes t his gaze, and she responded without any concealnt, "Yes, I don’t consider myself so prestigious heiress with a distinguished background and status to protect your career. My personal abilities are also diocre, so when your ex-girlfriend clings to you endlessly and pleads in every possible way, I don’t have the confidence that you’ll still choose unwaveringly."
The man’s brows furrowed tightly as he retorted, "You don’t trust yourself, nor do you trust ?"
"I said I trust you, but you know very well that Ms. Wan Ning is completely capable of taking advantage of any opportunity. You know clearly that she ca back this ti to entangle you endlessly."
"It’s enough that you trust , alright?"
She laughed mockingly, her tone turning sharp, "What’s the use of my trust? You rely et her for dinner and business, and she can leave her scent on you. Have you ever thought about how much it bothers and hurts when I sll that scent while leaning on your shoulder?"
It’s actually quite disgusting.
She just didn’t want to speak so harshly.
Fu Chenlie raised his hand to take off his suit jacket, "I’ll throw this jacket away and never wear it again, okay?"
Wen Ran glanced at the jacket, "What’s wrong with the jacket? What difference does it make to throw it away? You just don’t want to fire Jiang Wan Ning, the jacket isn’t the issue."
"I just promised her a job at Fu Group not long ago, and now you want to fire her. How am I supposed to justify that to others?"
"You’re the CEO of Fu Group, do you have to consider others’ opinions when firing an employee?"
The man raised his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, looking rather helpless.
Wen Ran turned her face away, feeling increasingly cold inside.
The man who used to be gentle and patient with her now seed so impatient.
Perhaps he’s tired of her, completely fed up inside?
Wen Ran knew she should stop now to avoid leaving him with a reputation for being unreasonable and stubborn.
But she couldn’t, her almond-shaped eyes stared at him resolutely, and she spoke word by word, "You just can’t let go, you want to keep her around! Back then she left without a word, and you’ve held on to that grudge for years. Now she’s back, and entangled with you again, you find it exciting and gratifying, you like that feeling, don’t you?"
His cold eyes swept towards her, dark and deep, emotions seemingly on the verge of fury, "I don’t need to find a sense of accomplishnt in this way."
Wen Ran retorted, "Then why must you have her work at Fu Group?"
The man seed annoyed by her persistent questioning, his voice rising, "She once saved my life, and I owe her a debt. Haven’t I told you this before?"
She stared at him, her eyes reddening, stubborn and aggrieved.
Fu Chenlie t her gaze and suddenly softened.
He cald his anger, gently pulling her hand and kissing it lightly, patiently coaxing, "Don’t get caught up in such aningless things, alright? I promise to tell you whatever I talk about whenever I et with Wan Ning in the future, okay?"
