Fu Chenlie heard these words, and his expression beca serious.

He had never heard her talk to him about this so seriously before, nor had he ever seen her like this—so earnest.

Now that she voiced her concerns, he patiently asked, "From what Mrs. Fu is saying, it seems you think I have too many won around , so you’re assuming I’ll inevitably cheat?"

"You have too many choices. If you occasionally et soone who stirs your desires, and in a mont of impulse you do sothing, it seems quite reasonable."

"Quite reasonable?"

The man sneered, his dark eyes flickering with a complex emotion. "In your eyes, am I just a man who can’t control his lower half?"

"No, it’s just..."

"Enough."

He suddenly interrupted her.

Wen Ran lowered her gaze, remaining silent.

She had initially thought he simply didn’t want to hear any more of her irrelevant chatter.

But Fu Chenlie quickly spoke again: "I will give you the sense of security you want. And rest assured, Madam, during the duration of our marriage, I absolutely won’t do anything to betray you. Even though you are my wife by law, who can say we won’t develop real feelings? Didn’t I suggest making this a long-term marriage? Yet you chose not to compromise and declined ."

Wen Ran, "..."

His words left her montarily speechless.

However, hearing this kind of promise did leave her feeling quietly pleased, a happiness she couldn’t suppress.

At this mont, Wen Ran still didn’t fully understand what he ant by giving her "the sense of security she wants," nor did she care much.

Still, she felt that Fu Chenlie was, in reality, quite a good man.

As their conversation reached this point, Wen Ran suddenly realized she was still sitting on his lap. As she tried to press against his shoulders to stand up, the man held her down again. "Mrs. Fu, what’s got you in such a hurry to get up?"

"I... Sitting on your lap like this doesn’t feel right. It’s awkward..."

"The only reason it feels awkward is because you don’t do it enough. Sit a little more, and you’ll get used to it."

Wen Ran’s mind buzzed.

His low voice, pleasant to the ear, carried each word at a calm and deliberate pace. And in that mont, she couldn’t tell whether it was the ambiguity in his tone overwhelming her, or if her own thoughts wandered astray, but she sohow associated his words with *that*.

Her heart raced inexplicably, and even her cheeks flushed red.

The man’s voice lifted slightly. "Madam, how co you’ve suddenly blushed?"

"I haven’t." Flustered, she hurriedly responded with those two words before jumping off his lap. "You... From now on, say what you an directly. Don’t touch randomly."

Fu Chenlie chuckled softly. "Can’t do that."

Wen Ran froze imdiately, instinctively turning to look at him.

The man’s lips curved into a smile, his strong voice tinged with a hint of arrogance. "Mrs. Fu, I’m telling you plainly today—I want to solidify our husband-and-wife relationship."

"You... What did you say?"

"Three hundred and sixty-five days in a year, I can stay celibate for three hundred and sixty-five days, but one day, I’ve got to indulge myself."

As Fu Chenlie said this, his gaze was blatant, trailing over her with unrestrained intent. His handso face showed an expression of absolute determination.

Wen Ran’s heart raced in alarm, her lips parting slightly as she stared at him, stunned into speechlessness.

But it seed he didn’t require her reply.

The man smiled faintly, his tone softening slightly. "Tonight, accompany to a dinner party as my date. Wear this dress that Aunt selected for you."

Wen Ran snapped back to her senses, though a tinge of confusion still lingered. She numbly responded, "... Got it."

As she finished speaking and prepared to leave with the dress in hand, Fu Chenlie’s voice stopped her again, its undertone difficult to decipher: "Tonight, I’ll have a surprise for you."
