Wen Ran responded, "I’m fine, the car accident was all my fault. The other party didn’t make a fuss about it, and I’ve already arrived ho. I wanted to ask Assistant Cheng whether it would be better to send the car for repairs now or wait until Mr. Fu returns to the country?"
Assistant Cheng fell silent.
Was it his place to decide on Mrs. Fu’s matters?
Why did he feel a little uneasy about it?
Wen Ran didn’t hear Assistant Cheng’s reply, so she suggested, "The collision wasn’t too severe. If Assistant Cheng isn’t sure how to decide, let it be for now. We can deal with it after Mr. Fu cos back in a couple of days. After all, his garage is full of cars; he won’t be without one."
"... Then we’ll go with Madam’s suggestion."
"Alright, Assistant Cheng, goodbye."
After hanging up the phone, Wen Ran’s gaze penetrated through the windshield and looked outside.
Her eyes landed on a sycamore tree growing in the villa’s courtyard. The sunlight sifted through the overlapping leaves, shining brightly and casting a warm, beautiful light.
Yet on such a beautiful afternoon, her husband was busy running after another woman.
Wen Ran zoned out for a mont, then snapped back to reality.
She took out her phone and sent a ssage to Jiang Yan: "I bumped into Qin Zeyu’s car today, and he didn’t ask to pay. Instead, he suggested we have lunch together tomorrow noon. Do you think it’s appropriate?"
Jiang Yan replied quickly: "Would Mr. Fu agree to you having lunch with Qin Zeyu?"
Wen Ran: "He’s gone abroad to et his first love."
Jiang Yan: "Well then, there’s nothing wrong with you having lunch with Qin Zeyu, since he’s being so blatant about it, and you’re just having a al."
Wen Ran: "Do you want to join us tomorrow?"
Jiang Yan: "I have to accompany President Lu to et a client tomorrow noon, so I probably won’t have ti. But I’m free after two o’clock. I’ve been under a lot of pressure lately because of President Lu, how about we go singing tomorrow afternoon after I’m done, and you’ve had lunch with Qin Zeyu?"
Without hesitation, Wen Ran agreed: "Sure."
Ever since she and Fu Chenlie registered their marriage, she had been walking on thin ice every day, and it had been a long ti since she relaxed.
Maybe it wasn’t every day, since recently his attitude towards her hadn’t been bad, but just as his attitude improved, he bailed on her again for his first love, which still irked her a little.
Lost in her thoughts, Jiang Yan’s ssage ca through again: "Ranran, won’t you be a little upset with Mr. Fu going after his first love?"
It took Wen Ran a long ti staring at this ssage before responding.
"Upset might not be the right word, but I’m quite annoyed, not knowing what to do if he actually brings Jiang Wan Ning back here, making just a nominal Mrs. Fu."
Jiang Yan: "Don’t worry, I’m here for you. If anyone dares to bully you, just tell , and I’ll definitely teach them a lesson!"
Wen Ran smiled and replied, "Okay, I know. Thanks, darling Ah Yan!"
...
The next day.
When Wen Ran ca downstairs after waking up, Aunt Wu had already prepared breakfast.
It was only when she sat down in the dining room that she realized—
Fu Chenlie had gone abroad, and she was the only one dining today.
But since she had driven him to the airport until now, 16 hours had passed.
He must have already landed in England, yet he hadn’t sent her a single ssage.
Perhaps he had already t his long-awaited first love, and within minutes of their reunion, they might have passionately tumbled into bed together.
Thinking this, Warm Ran reached up and touched her head.
She wasn’t wearing a hat today.
Hopefully, she wasn’t wearing a taphorical green hat either.
She spent the morning distractedly in the villa, not even in the mood to study for her teaching credential exam, rely flipping through TV channels with the remote control, unable to find a program that interested her.
Aunt Wu, having finished her chores, ca over with a plate of fruits and placed it in front of her, smiling, "Madam, are you missing your husband?"
Wen Ran was startled, "Who’s missing him? Aunt Wu, what nonsense are you talking?"
