After Fu Chenlie’s words fell, the study beca terrifyingly silent.

Wen Ran stared at his handso face, unsure whether she didn’t know how to respond or was stunned by the question. She stood frozen for a long ti without uttering a word.

It was only when he stood in front of her that she belatedly found her voice, "What do you an by that?"

What do you an... willing to be entangled by her?

His deep gaze landed on her face, his eyes seemingly conveying many complex ssages that were indecipherable. In a low and leisurely voice, he said, "The literal aning."

Wen Ran dully repeated, "And the literal aning is... what?"

Her two consecutive questions made him frown.

He retorted with a question instead, "Has Mrs. Fu never been to school? Or can she not understand Chinese?"

In the dim study, the light from above shone on him, making him seem like a deity drenched in golden light, so lofty and unattainable.

Eventually, Wen Ran could no longer withstand his intense gaze and lowered her head, as if admitting defeat.

She pursed her lips slightly, "We have an agreent."

"Agreents are lifeless, but people aren’t. Besides, doesn’t the agreent state that if feelings develop, there’s no need for divorce?"

"You haven’t developed feelings for ."

Listening to her soft voice, Fu Chenlie asked, "Who told you that?"

Wen Ran looked up, "Do you like ?"

"Can’t I develop feelings of wanting you to be my wife forever, to tease you, without it having to be liking you?"

"...I don’t want to be teased by you."

He found her puffed cheeks caused by dissatisfaction inexplicably cute.

For a mont, he lost his smile.

With a mix of helplessness and indulgence, he sighed lowly from his throat, reached out to pull her into his arms, and held her.

His large hand gently stroked her soft hair as his deep, husky voice murmured, "Asking for a hug from you resulted in so much nonsense, Mrs. Fu. When it cos to wasting ti, I doubt many in the world can compete with you, right?"

Held by him, her cheek pressed against his soft and luxurious bathrobe, she felt wonderfully warm.

Especially with the nice fragrance of his shower gel mixed with his natural masculine scent, which was strangely seductive.

Her cheeks reddened slightly.

Fortunately, as they embraced, he probably couldn’t see it.

Returning to her senses, Wen Ran defiantly responded to his earlier words, "You were the one who asked first. I was just responding."

Fu Chenlie chuckled lightly, "Why do you love to quibble so much?"

"I’m not!"

After declaring that, she raised her head from his embrace, looking up at his suprely fine jawline, and spoke with a sense of grievance, "You don’t let talk back, how dare I?"

Fu Chenlie’s right hand on her shoulder and his left lifting her chin, he spoke with ambiguous intent, "Mrs. Fu always says she dares not, yet in reality, she does everything she should and shouldn’t do, and has even thought through all the excuses in her mind, hasn’t she?"

Wen Ran stared at his inscrutable eyes and was montarily shocked!

He knew her thoughts?

No... impossible!

She chanically shook her head, "I haven’t done anything I shouldn’t, nor have I made excuses in my heart. Don’t wrongly accuse ."

"Wrongly accuse?"

He snorted lightly, the smile lingering on his lips as he spoke, "The one being stubborn is you, the one making excuses is you, and the one turning things around is still you. I guess I have truly experienced Mrs. Fu’s skills."
