Chapter 703: Chapter 70 Training Ground

In the front yard, several iron racks were set up, the wooden charcoal piled in the iron box radiating intense heat.

Large chunks of beef and lamb slowly changed color under the high temperature, the golden chops sizzling with fat, exuding the mouthwatering scent of roasted at.

Upon seeing Shao Zifeng approach, one of the chubby chefs reached for a sharp iron knife, shaved off a piece from the roasting at, and handed it over, “Young man, have a taste of my craftsmanship.”

Shao Zifeng took the tal skewer and offered a smile of thanks.

The roast in his hand hissed, a drop of hot oil tracing down its plump lines. He sniffed lightly, the charcoal’s woody fragrance mixed with the aroma of the at making his mouth water.

“Wow~”

Before he could take a bite, an inexplicable chill suddenly erged, and a disheveled vengeful spirit squeezed out from behind Shao Zifeng, its dark eyes fixed on the roast in his hand, black liquid dripping from the corners of its mouth.

The sudden appearance of the vengeful spirit startled the chefs present, their legs quaking uncontrollably, and the chubby chef turned white, pointing at the little creature and stamring, “Young, young man, a ghost… a ghost!”

Shao Zifeng glared at the vengeful spirit and handed it the roast at, apologizing profusely to the crowd, “This is my pet. Although it looks a bit fierce, it won’t harm you.”

With Shao Zifeng’s explanation, the chefs slowly relaxed, although they still dared not look at the vengeful spirit.

The little guy, however, didn’t seem to care, lying on the roast and feasting hungrily, its sparse hairs swaying like seaweed from side to side in its contentnt.

Having secured another piece of roast from the chubby chef, he bit down, oil bursting in his mouth.

The at, refined by charcoal fire, was already fragrant, and with the added zest of pepper salt and spicy sauce, beca even more flavorful, tender, crispy, savory, and spicy—all tumbling in his mouth at once, the delicious sensation reaching the tip of his tongue, filling his mouth with the scent of at.

Shao Zifeng gave the chubby chef a thumbs up, “Delicious.”

“Heh heh.” The chubby chef wiped his sweat with the towel hanging around his neck, showing an air of confidence in response to the praise, “So it’s good enough?”

Shao Zifeng nodded, “It is.”

“Alrighty!” The chubby chef swung his towel and turned to shout at the other chefs, “Brothers, let’s dish up.”

The fragrant large chunks of roast at were carried to the backyard, and soon, the happy grunts of Yaya and the others filled the air.

Having finished its roast, the vengeful spirit zipped toward the source of the scent, its sparse hair on its head like radar seeking the target, finally zeroing in on the backyard’s direction, and dashed off in a flash.

“Oh wow~~”

After the little ones were fed, Chen and Wang called over a few cleaning staff to help tidy the yard, and a cleaning truck hauled away a large amount of kitchen waste.

Looking at the newly refreshed yard, Shao Zifeng felt imnsely satisfied.

Chen pulled a business card out of her briefcase, “Duke, here is my card. If you have any needs, just summon us. Our property managent departnt is at your service 24 hours a day. If there’s nothing else, we’ll take our leave now.”

Wang eagerly handed over his card as well, “And mine.”

Shao Zifeng took the cards and placed them on the coffee table, then stood up, saying, “Thank you for your hard work today, let see you out.”

Watching the two drive away, Shao Zifeng headed towards the second floor.

He was in no hurry to visit his mother; there were still more than two days left before his appointnt with Ice Chi, and he wanted to take care of so matters before leaving.

Standing on the balcony, the little ones, full and content, were lazily basking in the sun.

Shao Zifeng raised his right hand, where not particularly intense sunlight shone on the dark ring.

The ring fit snugly on his finger, made of a material much like obsidian, which under the sunlight, revealed an abstract, distorted pumpkin smile that seed to co to life.

Ever since he stowed ‘Scrooge’ Jack inside, Shao Zifeng had not let it out again; the creature, apart from so initial resistance, later settled down. It probably felt the benefits of being inside the ring.

However, for such a cunning creature, Shao Zifeng wouldn’t release it as easily as he did the big cat, and since the deceit ability was quite useful, he hadn’t bothered with it.

This ti, he was about to head into a completely unknown space, and for caution’s sake, re deceitful abilities were insufficient to ensure his survival.

Among Shao Zifeng’s other pets, whether it was the little deer, Lingling, or the big cat, Beibei, Gjestaf, they were all spiritual entities; only by making flexible use of their abilities could he maximize the ring’s potential.

With this thought, Shao Zifeng took out his cellphone.

Soon, Chen Yixin’s teasing voice ca through on the other end, “Zifeng, do you miss your sister? Or do you want to show off your physique to her again?”

Shao Zifeng’s face turned slightly red, “Yixing sister, I’ve got sothing to ask you…”

Laughter ca from the other end of the phone, “Oh~ feeling a bit shy, are we?”

“Alright, alright, I’ll stop teasing you. Just say what you need.”

Shao Zifeng walked over and sat down at the rattan wood table, “It’s like this, I’m looking for a large, fully enclosed training ground, preferably with so restrictions against mutant creatures with spectral attributes.”

Chen Yixin pondered for a mont, “Restrictions on mutant creatures with spectral attributes… how restrictive do you want it?”

Shao Zifeng rubbed the ring with his thumb, “Just enough to prevent them from escaping would do.”

“Only that?” Chen Yixin breathed a sigh of relief, “I was thinking I had to help you beg soone again. But for that level of restriction, you have one right under your villa. I personally applied for its construction, isn’t it a pleasant surprise?”

Shao Zifeng exclaid in astonishnt, “Under the villa… there’s a training ground?”

“What else?” Chen Yixin’s voice carried a hint of pride, “Your villa had been approved long ago, and I helped you choose it at that ti. Later on, I thought having a separate training ground would be convenient for you, so I applied to build one for you under the villa.”

Then, Tang Tang’s voice could be heard from the other end, “Professor Chen, the data…”

“I know, I’ll be right there,” Chen Yixin hastened her words, “Next to your floor-to-ceiling window, there’s a green button on the wall; that’s the switch to the training ground, I have to go now.”

“Thank…”

Listening to the dial tone from the other end, Shao Zifeng shook his head in resignation.

He got up and entered the room, finding a small chanical contraption behind the curtains.

After opening the glass cover, Shao Zifeng pressed the green button and waited a while, but the room remained eerily still, with nothing happening.

Could it be that it had short-circuited due to not being used for a long ti?

Just as he was about to try again, the sounds of little creatures suddenly ca from outside the window.

Shao Zifeng quickly walked to the balcony and looked down, only to see Ice Chi floating mid-air, as the water level in the pool beneath started to drop rapidly, exposing the floor of the pool.

Click!

The crisp sound of chanical gears grinding rang out, and the floor tiles beneath the pool suddenly split open, revealing a pitch-dark entrance.
