Chapter 669: Chapter 36 Divine Gifted

Boom!

The tranquil serenity of Christchurch City was shattered by a violent explosion, plus of dust billowed from the desolate streets and spread outward, accompanied by continuous shrieks of terror.

Whoosh!

Several dark figures darted through the rolling dust, splashing through puddles on the old street, their blood slowly mixing with the water, tainting it with red smoky swirls.

Boom!

A furious gust of wind swept through, as a man was impaled by a diminutive monster, crashing heavily against the opposite wall. The wall behind him cracked like a large spider web, with blood rapidly spreading through the fractures, entangling him within a blood-red web.

The man’s mouth gaped open, black-red blood gushed from it as he incredulously looked down at the large hole in his chest, then collapsed to the ground, his blood dyeing the puddles on the street red.

“Arctic Wind Wolf, hurry, take … Ahh!!!”

Explosions sounded one after another—the city’s new anthem was composed of madness, desperate cries, and piercing screams.

Bodies lay haphazardly in the puddles, human and mutant creatures alike.

As ti passed, the chaotic streets once again fell silent, save for the occasional drip-drop of water.

Click-clack!

After a while, the sound of bones rubbing against each other erged from the dust as a huge black shadow slowly advanced. It was a spider over three ters tall, with eight crimson eyes flickering with a cold sheen, a thick black fur covering its body, and a fiery red-haired woman sitting upon its back.

The woman boasted a voluptuous figure with exaggerated smoky makeup on her face, and she wore a revealing leather outfit adorned with tallic sequins, which jingled crisply with the spider’s every step.

“Tell , where is the Duke hiding?” The woman’s black nails clutched a man’s throat, and as she looked at him, his face a portrait of terror, a seductive smile suddenly appeared on her face. She brought her lip-pierced, fla-red lips close to the man’s ear and whispered sultrily, “Little brother, just tell where the Duke is, and I can make sure you leave in pleasure~”

Yili’s face was pale, the woman’s tongue licking his ear carried a tallic bead, sending shivers down his spine. But as his peripheral vision caught the bodies along the street, any heat within him was quickly extinguished, and fear once more took hold.

The woman straddled him, casually flipping her red hair, her hand that had been choking him slowly travelling downward, her long nails gliding over Yili’s skin. As she leaned in close, her ample chest pressed against Yili’s, her smile growing more seductive, “Little brother, tell ~”

Yili clenched his mouth tightly, desperately turning his head away, refusing to look at the woman. Despite his overwhelming fear, as a subject of the Great Xia and a mber of the Great Xia ‘Pioneers’ Station, he knew well that there were so things that he must never divulge, even at the cost of his life.

A cold look washed over the redhead’s face, and her eyes flickered with hints of murderous intent.

“Tch.”

It was at that mont, a light laughter ca from across the street, “Such a promiscuous vixen, indulging in any man who cos along.”

The redhead’s actions halted, the hand that had been clutching Yili’s neck gradually loosened. She pulled the ashen-faced Yili into her arms, her face beaming with a charming smile, “n are so bone-headed, always crying and begging to climb on top of . I’m not like soone else who can’t even keep her own man in check.”

As her words ended, a deathly silence enveloped the surroundings. The redhead’s coquettish smile slightly retracted as she surveyed the area with caution.

Swish!

A cold glint struck from behind her, and the spider beneath the red-haired woman let out a screech, its bloated abdon arching high and spraying out a vast amount of white silk.

The cold glow slightly stalled, tearing through the spider webs and continuing to lunge at the red-haired woman. However, with the buffer of the webs, the red-haired woman calmly drew her dagger to block.

Clang clang!

Accompanying the crisp sound of tal clashing, sparks scattered all around.

The red-haired woman looked at the thin woman through the falling spider silk, her eyes narrowing slightly, “Are you really going to fight with here?”

The thin woman wore a woolen coat opposite to that of the red-haired woman, with large sunglasses covering half her face; she let out an annoyed hum, slowly retracting her dagger, “Let’s hear it, did you find anything?”

The red-haired woman covered her mouth with a light laugh, “Why don’t you speak first, you want to take advantage even of this?”

“You!” The thin woman, struggling against the impulse to kill, gritted her teeth, “You scum, hold back your disgusting laughter or else I’m afraid my knife won’t resist giving you sothing to rember.”

The smile on the red-haired woman’s face faded, and she finally began to speak slowly, “The ‘Pioneer’ outpost was turned upside down by , and I didn’t find any trace of the Duke. What about you?”

The thin woman shook her head, “The whole city is currently being searched, and so far no useful information has been found, but…”

Yili, lying between the two won, perked up his ears; he wanted to know who exactly had betrayed the Duke.

“But what?” The red-haired woman teased Yili unconsciously with her black nails, her eyes still firmly fixed on the woman opposite her.

“But I found a pioneer group from Daxia who said they were willing to assist us if necessary.” The thin woman spoke with a hint of mockery in her tone, “Daxia has global designs, and now they’re caught by the tail, having nurtured a pack of ingrates with massive resources, heh…”

The red-haired woman displayed a thoughtful expression, “Be careful when dealing with them; if they really are ingrates, that’s fine, but if they are pretending…”

“Afraid of what!” The thin woman spoke nonchalantly, “If it weren’t for those ungrateful wretches, how could we have got the Duke’s whereabouts? After all the years he’s disrupted so many of our branches, it’s about ti he gets taught a lesson.”

“Hehehe.”

The red-haired woman suppressed a chuckle behind her hand.

The thin woman asked coldly, “What are you laughing at?”

It took a while for the red-haired woman to stop laughing, “If it’s for the credit, say it’s for the credit; don’t pretend like you’re doing it for the organization. How is that different from those hypocrites?”

The thin woman’s complexion turned slightly sour, and after a mont, she spoke in a flat tone, “What of it? Which of us can resist the temptation to beco ‘Divine Gifted’?”

Upon hearing ‘Divine Gifted’, a fervent look appeared in the red-haired woman’s eyes.

This title was a reward from the Holy Origin Society in recent years for significant contributors where those granted the ‘Divine Gifted’ title have the chance to be transford into humans with special abilities. Having witnessed the strength of the Divine Gifted, every mid-level mber of the Holy Origin Society yearned for the reward.

Thinking of the rewards that would co with killing the Duke, the red-haired woman murmured to herself, “Indeed, who could resist…”
