Chapter 658: Chapter 25 Gods’ Resentnt

Gjestaf bowed her head slightly, her hands crossed and pressing against the tip of her nose, her golden hair billowing in the wind. Shrouded in a murk of Holy Light, she stood amidst it, like an angel fallen to the mortal realm.

As she chanted her hymn, the sprawling dark clouds above gradually dispersed, and soft pillars of Holy Light pierced through the clouds to shine upon the pit stacked with the corpses of gods. The remaining light, like ripples on water, spread outward in circles, cleansing the dark earth.

Sawdust from the World Tree scattered on the ground, the bones of gods embedded in the earth, and the piles of godly corpses in the pit emitted wisps of black smoke. That black smoke lted away like ice in the light. Even the dark sands nearby gradually grew paler, shining with a jade-like luster.

As the hymn neared its end, Gjestaf reflected on the gods’ plight with an increasingly sorrowful expression. A crystal tear slid from the corner of her eye, falling to the sand at her feet, creating ripples upon ripples.

A gentle breeze brushed her cheeks, as if a mother’s hand were caressing her.

“My child…”

Accompanied by a soft voice, a point of light appeared amidst the darkness before Gjestaf. Through the misty light, it seed as if a woman, whose poise and grace brought comfort, materialized within the Holy Light, looking down lovingly at the Saint Heir in her arms, sucking on his fingers and kicking his plump little legs.

Watching the scene, she was stunned, her slender body trembling slightly.

The woman lifted her head and smiled beautifully, waving at her, “My child, co to .”

Confronted with the kind smile of the woman, Gjestaf’s heart pounded violently for a few monts, and she murmured uncontrollably, “So warm~”

Hum!!

The Five-Colored Jade hanging from the Whale Horn Blade handle vibrated gently, as Shao Zifeng and the others looked on, puzzled by Gjestaf who was walking toward the deep pit.

The hymn had ended so ti ago, but Gjestaf seed drawn to sothing, walking forward like a marionette on strings.

Lingling’s gaze flickered, and she said softly to one side, “Duke, sothing seems wrong.”

Shao Zifeng grasped the handle of the blade, feeling the vibration from the Five-Colored Jade, and stared intently at Gjestaf’s slender back, saying solemnly, “I know.”

One step.

Two steps.

Gjestaf drew closer and closer to the deep pit, as the clouds that had parted a mont ago gathered again, thick and foreboding. Deer and Yaya seed to sense sothing, clustering tightly around Shao Zifeng with Beibei at their side.

Humming!!

The vibrations from the blade handle grew increasingly intense. Shao Zifeng’s heart rose to his throat—it was the first ti in three years the Five-Colored Jade had shown such dramatic change.

Gjestaf stopped at the edge of the pit stacked with godly bodies, her golden hair and white robes flapping in the wind, and after pausing for a mont, she suddenly lifted a foot to step into the pit.

At the sa mont, the faint Holy Light above the pit vanished, replaced by a heavy, oppressive roll of black fog. The swirling fog seed alive, opening its maw wide in an attempt to devour Gjestaf.

Clang!

In an instant, Shao Zifeng felt a trendous pulling force on the blade handle, and Five-Colored Jade led his hand to draw the Whale Horn. A clear ringing of the blade sounded.

A rainbow halo rapidly wrapped around the blade, and Shao Zifeng’s arm ca down hard, the colorful blade glow shooting straight out.

Just as the billowing black fog was about to engulf Gjestaf, the colorful blade light, coming in later but arriving first, split the large mouth of fog in two. Seeing this, Shao Zifeng shouted, “Deer!”

“Yo!”

Deer neighed, its forehooves lifted and stomping on the ground, as the earth surged with a burst of green light, several thick vines entwined around Gjestaf’s slender waist and belly, pulling her out of the black fog.

“Roar!”

“Give her back to !!!”

Seeing the prey that was almost in its grasp snatched away, the split black fog rapidly condensed together, letting out a furious roar mixed with nurous discordant noises—male and female, old and young—that uncontrollably made one’s scalp tingle.

Shao Zifeng took hold of the pale-faced Gjestaf, embracing her waist and stepping back a few paces with the blade in hand, watching the eerie black fog warily, with a blue light spinning rapidly in his peripheral vision.

“Damn it!”

Shao Zifeng looked at the information before him with a very ugly expression. He originally thought the Silver Fern Lady was the biggest obstacle on this journey, but now Gods’ Resentnt had suddenly erged. How did these beings die, and why such overwhelming resentnt?

He didn’t know whether the Silver Fern Lady beca what she was out of her own ambition or because she was unknowingly eroded by their resentnt. If it was the latter, it was indeed pitiful.

“Give it back to , give it back!!!”

The creepy voice kept ringing out, as the bones and bodies of the gods, under the pull of the black fog, slowly lifted into the air. Their originally pure white skin rapidly darkened and decayed within the fog, and purple-red pustules burst open, emitting an odious sll.

“Uh~”

Just then, a pained moan suddenly ca from his embrace.

Shao Zifeng looked down to see Gjestaf with furrowed brows, her body enveloped in a faint black fla, her expression full of agony.

Seeing this, his heart tightened, and he hurriedly looked up at the little deer and the rest. Sure enough, black flas were also burning on their bodies; Yaya was sweeping its tail uneasily, seemingly uncomfortable.

Shao Zifeng gripped the trembling Whale Horn Blade and instinctively wanted to issue an attack command, but he held back when the words reached his lips.

If they really chose to fight and could kill with a single strike, it would be fine, but if they were to be bogged down in battle, then they would all be eroded by the resentnt.

Shao Zifeng clenched his teeth and looked towards the spinning portal, realizing that their best course of action right now was to find a way to leave this place.
