This ti around, Viviana didn’t wake up alone to an empty room or to Valentina’s face. Instead she was t with Lucian who was seated worriedly on the sofa within the room.

She grunted a little as she tried to push herself up on the bed and that grabbed Lucian’s attention. He looked at her, quickly shooting up to his feet.

She looked around. "Y-you have been drugging —"

"No." He shook his head at her, approaching cautiously. "It was just a sedative to put you to sleep. Your ntal state wasn’t good and it was only going to put your life in danger. Valentina had no choice but to do it. She was only helping you. I an, your wound has also taken this ti to heal quite enough."

"How do you feel?" he added.

Viviana stared at him and without a word, she broke down, crying again. By now, her eyes were a bit swollen from crying so much.

Lucian quickly sat at the edge of the edge of the bed, proceeding to caress her hair. "Viviana, if you keep crying like this, you’ll—"

"You don’t want to see him," she sniffled, glaring at him with blurry eyes. "None of you want to. Why? He’s my husband. W-why can’t I see him?"

Lucian’s hand froze on her head. He gazed at her and slowly let out a deep turbid air. "It’s not that we don’t want you to see him, Viviana."

"Then why?"

"You might not be able to handle it. Everyone’s worried."

"W-what do you an by that? What happened to Nikolas?"

He couldn’t answer her, casting his gaze downward. He took his head back, clearly having no intention to say, but Viviana caught his hand, begging, "Please, Lucian, don’t do this to anymore. I want to see him. I want to see Nikolas. What are you going to do? Give sedatives again? D-do you think i’ll stop being like this if you do if for a few more weeks or days or months?"

He didn’t answer.

"Say sothing!" she snapped at him.

Lucian flickered his eyes. He suddenly stood to his feet and give him a bitteer smile. "You want to see Nikolas?"

"Yes."

"Then at least tell you can handle it when you do see him."

She rapidly nodded her head at him.

"Alrioght then. We’ll go see him." Lucian walked over to the sofa. He picked up the set of clothes Francesca had given him to hand over to her. "When you’re done, let know." M

Viviana quickly took the clothes from him.

Lucian left, closing the door behind him. As he headed to the living room, he took out his phone, dialing his mother’s number.

[Lucy?]

"Mom, I’m bringing her."

[Huh?]

"Nikolas’s wife," he said. "Viviana, I’m bringing her to see him."

[Oh... I-is that so? Are you sure this is a good idea, Lucian?]

"There is nothing else I can do, mom. She insists on seeing him and I’m not going to be soone who separates two people. If being beside him even like this is what she wants, then I’ll take her to him. The thing is, I know it’s not going to be easy for her, so at least, please... help her sohow."

[Lucian...]

"Like you said, grief is sothing that can barely be endured."

[Mhm. It is]

The call ended at the sound of her footsteps. He turned. Viviana was standing with an eager look on her face, dressed in baggy jeans and a white coloured t-shirt.

"I’m ready," she said to him.

His gaze shifted to her shoulder. "Are you sure it doesn’t hurt?"

"It does. But I can handle it."

"Alright. Let’s go."

She followed him out towards the car, where she took the passenger seat. Lucian buckled the seatbelt for her, before heading over to the driver’s seat.

The drive was in complete silence, and the longer the drove, the more anxious Viviana got.

She had been wondering, thinking, trying to figure out what could have happened to Nikolas. Did he get severely hurt?

She wanted to see him.

Her feet tapped rapidly on the floor of the car and her heart jumped the second Lucian took a turn, pulling up in front of a gate guarded by two security n.

’Where is this?’

As if Lucian heard her thought, he answered, "This is our family house. Nikolas and I grew up here with our mother, and well... our father who eventually died."

"Oh. I see..." She nodded as they pulled up inside, the wheels turning as the man sped over to the parking lot with different brands and sets of cars.

They stepped down. For a mont, Viviana was completely still in shock beneath the bed of well managed grass where she stood.

What sort of place was this?

It looked absolutely like a royal ho.

It was huge—far bigger than anything she had ever stepped into. The building—a beautiful colour of cream, stretched wide on both sides, tall pillars holding up in the front.

A fountain was running in the very center.

At this mont, the only thing Viviana, a woman bought into excessive wealth could think was how easily one could get lost in this place. That was exactly how dizzily large the family house was.

"Co." Lucian wrapped his cold fingers around her wrist, gently pulling her after him.

As they arrived at the entrance, the door man deeply bowed to him before rising again. "Welco back, young sir."

All he gave was a nod, stepping inside with Viviana.

The tall windows were shut and the curtains were pulled close. The chandelier was left on even though it was still afternoon outside. Her gazes shifted to the brush stroked paintings on the wall.

It began with a man who quite looked like Nikolas, but it wasn’t Nikolas. While he had the sa green eyes and chestnut hair as him, his smile was nothing like Nikolas’s smile.

"Whose that?"
