The loud sounds of kids sounded as Nikolas pulled over, parking close to the gate of a large building.
It was Lucia’s school. Lucian had made him pick her up for him.
Staring right ahead, he saw her coming out, dressed in her uniform, the backpack that was almost bigger than her, hanging on her back.
The second she sighted him, she paused on her feet, blue eyes growing large. "Uncle Niko!!!"
He waved at her, lips curled into a large smile, however it fell off his face the very next mont. One of the three kids that had walked past her, tripped her, and when she fell hard on her face, they began laughing.
He moved on his feet, but stopped in the next mont, because Lucia stood up glaring at them.
"Why did you do that?" she asked them.
They made funny faces at her. "You didn’t give a pencil when I told you to give ."
"It was mine."
"I don’t like you."
"You didn’t say please."
The little boy who’d tripped her, scoffed. "Why should I say please? My mommy will give a nice pencil and I’ll show you."
"You’re being an." Lucia balled her hands into fists.
The boy pushed her. Then he laughed. "What are you going to do? Will you go and tell your daddy?"
"My papa will not be nice to you," Lucia warned.
But the boy laughed, shoving her so hard this ti, she fell on her butt. Along with his friends, they laughed at her. "Go and tell your papa then. I will also tell my papa."
Nikolas looked around. What should he do? These were little kids that were barely even seven.
But while he was still thinking, Lucia stood up on her little feet. She took steps back away from them.
The boys tilted their heads, wondering what she was doing. But then she suddenly began rushing towards them and before the boy could even figure out what she was about to do, she jumped, stomping him with both of her feet.
He fell.
She fell, grunting.
The boy imdiately began crying. "I will tell the teacher."
"But you hurt first," Lucia said to him, pursing her lips. "You push a lot and you say an things to ."
"I will tell!" The boy was about to stumble away, but soone grabbed him by the back collar of his shirt.
He turned his head, eyes bulging in fear at Nikolas whose face was expressionless.
"L-let go of ."
Nikolas didn’t. Instead he squatted down, forcing a smile on his face. "Listen here, you little..." He took a deep breath. "Say sorry to her."
"No."
"Don’t push it, kiddo."
The boy swallowed.
"That wasn’t nice. Don’t you know you shouldn’t bully others?" Nikolas cocked his head. "Say sorry to her."
The kid bit his lip, before glancing at Lucia. "I’m sorry."
Nikolas tapped Lucia a bit. "Say sorry to him."
"W-why?"
"You hurt him. That’s not good."
"But he hurt first."
"He has apologized. Now you do too. Be a good girl, and say sorry."
Lucia looked at the boy. "I’m sorry for kicking you."
"Okay," he responded. "I won’t hurt you again."
"Good, good." Nikolas nodded, He rose to his feet, grabbed Lucia’s hand and proceeded to leave with her. "How’s your head?"
"It doesn’t hurt anymore." She craned her back to stare at him. "Where’s daddy, uncle Niko?"
"Your daddy’s busy with your mommy."
"You’re spending the rest of the day at my penthouse."
"Really?!"
"Yup."
"Is your pretty wife there too?"
Nikolas stifled his laughter. "You want to see her?"
"Yes." She was half human and half vampire. Unlike them, the little girl could walk freely in the sun. "Can we have ice cream? Daddy won’t let ."
"What a sha." Nikolas shook his head. "You can have as much as you’d like."
The girl began skipping on her little feet towards the car. "Uncle Niko is the best."

Serena paced back and forth in her room. She was biting her finger, anxious for no reason.
It’d been almost two weeks now since the incident that happened at Fernando’s event. She had also tried to contact him for a while now, but each ti, he never answered, or rather cut her off.
She’d even tried to visit him, but the man wouldn’t give her a chance. Either way, it was understandable. What Tasso Aceto had done to him was a huge blow. Anyone would have fallen into a depressed state had it been them.
But that was not the least of her problems. The issue was one man—one particular man who had been disturbing her greatly.
Serana began to pace back and forth.
She fished her phone out of her pocket and browsed into it. She scrolled down to the article that was first released after Viviana’s scandalous wedding. Her eyes glided over to Nikolas.
She swallowed.
Serena wasn’t sure what it was about this man. At first when she’d seen him for the very first ti, the only thing she’d felt was this strange connection to him which she’d brushed off. But the more she saw him, the worse it got.
That day at the family dinner, it wasn’t even that she’d wanted to kiss him. It was just that she’d found herself angry for no reason—at the attention he gave Viviana, the way he looked at her. It made her mad for a reason, and the idea that she had no clue why she felt that way, frightened her.
She couldn’t control herself, kissing the man impulsively.
When she looked at him—
How would she describe the feeling?
—It was like a feeling of belonging. Like there was sothing between them. But that made no sense. This man seed to harbour so sort of dislike toward hers, and this was even before the kiss of a thing happen.,
It was as if he’d never liked her from the very first day he set eyes on her, and she couldn’t understand why.
The worst part of everything right now, was that, this was no longer about her just feeling this sense of belonging. She was seeing him in her dreams now. Whenever she closed her eyes, she saw this man—this man that was married to her stepsister.
And things were so bad that not once in her dream, had he given her a friendly look. If anything, he always stared at her with this look of rejection as if he didn’t want her anywhere near him, despite whatever connection this was she was feeling.
Serena stopped her pacing and scratched her hair fastidiously.
"What is going on with ?"
She bit her finger.
"Have I t him before? And if I have, is that why he feels so familiar? Maybe, it’s just that I can’t rember him. There is no way I could be feeling this way towards soone I’ve never t or known."
She plopped into her queen sized bed and stared up at the ceiling.
"Or am I just attracted to him?" Amusent crossed her face. "Now do I want to steal him from you, Viviana?"
Her lips curled into a devilish grin. "Maybe...maybe not. I haven’t also paid you back for what you did to ."
Her eyes were growing dark.
"I wonder how you will feel..." She chuckled. "I’m a bit curious... And I wonder how good he is in bed. Hehehe. My dear, my dear sister."
