Chapter 994: Chapter 994: Ghost’s Pawn
In Ba Country, after Kasam’s high-profile claim that Yahward attacked the Wild Alliance Headquarters dominated the initial voices, a new developnt unfolded. Yahward mobilized his intelligence personnel to shift the bla for the attack onto Kasam, presenting a convincing narrative.
This sparked an uproar in Ba Country’s public opinion.
Kasam’s solo narrative was replaced by another voice.
Yahward’s influence was not to be underestimated, and despite Kasam’s suppression, he couldn’t contain the rising tide.
Of course, the people of Ba Country were inherently resistant to Yahward and unwilling to believe him, while they fully trust Kasam.
They naturally perceived Yahward’s accusations as an attempt to evade responsibility.
Poison Butterfly and others were not idle. They seized the opportunity to lurk closer to Kasam’s official residence, slowly gathering strength. Then, when the ti was ripe, they directly surrounded Kasam’s mansion, forcing him to reveal the truth.
In Kasam’s secret abode, he sat face-to-face with Ghost, feeling unnerved.
"Didn’t you say that by falsely accusing Yahward, there would be a fifty percent chance people would believe Yahward attacked the Wild Alliance Headquarters, allowing
to stay out of it?" Kasam stared at Ghost intently, looking worried.
"The people of Ba Country believe you; isn’t that a winning hand? With public support, one can shake the Wild Alliance’s judgnt and potentially secure victory. Rember, most Wild Alliance mbers have families, and those families are your people," Ghost stated calmly, his piercing eyes glowing with a chilling light.
"But with Yahward stepping forward to accuse , I can’t control the montum. Even though Yahward’s claims aren’t trusted, Wild Alliance and Lani find them plausible, or at least suspicious, putting
in a precarious situation," Kasam said anxiously. "The Wild Alliance opposes , Lani opposes ; they’re allied with Yahward. I fear Yahward and Lani’s power less than the Wild Alliance, with its influence spanning my entire jurisdiction. If the Wild Alliance rebels, I’m finished. In that scenario, with Yahward and Lani launching a counterattack, internal and external troubles would overwhelm ."
"I initially thought, with the Wild Alliance headless, the remaining group would be too scattered to worry about. I didn’t anticipate the regional leaders uniting, letting Poison Butterfly take charge and conducting planned investigations, a montum I didn’t foresee," Ghost said in surprise, realizing his confident fifty percent chance had dwindled to less than thirty percent.
"The Wild Alliance is formidable, deeply rooted, and unprecedentedly unified—everyone knows this. Your idea to lead the Wild Alliance and use Yahward’s accusation to unite against him is clever. But the Wild Alliance isn’t foolish," Kasam said discontentedly. "You underestimated them, leading to these consequences, and it’s chiefly your fault."
"I did indeed underestimate the Wild Alliance, and I must admit to that," Ghost confessed as he awaited the desired information, maintaining a skilled fa??ade before Kasam.
Kasam, restless and anxious, remarked, "Poison Butterfly and his forces have besieged Michael’s barracks, undoubtedly extracting suspicious clues. They’re encircling our barracks, already suspicious of . If they lose reason and strike, what should I do?"
"What else can you do? If they co, prepare to resist. If you think the Wild Alliance will attack you, by all ans, fight back," Ghost said indifferently, showing little concern for Kasam’s precarious situation.
"What do you an by that—do you think the Wild Alliance won’t assault ?" Kasam replied sarcastically. "If you think that, you’re gravely mistaken. They’re mad, beastly, and won’t care I’m Ba Country’s leader. If Wild Alliance confirms I attacked their headquarters, they’ll want to kill , regardless of my position."
"Your worrying is excessive; boosting others’ morale while dampening your own isn’t good," Ghost asserted, boosting Kasam’s confidence. "Should Wild Alliance run amok, my people will impersonate Yahward’s, attack the Wild Alliance leaders, and fra Yahward. Supporters of yours will then seize control of the Wild Alliance, and those doubting you can be removed. With that, you should have peace of mind."
"Do you have sufficiently strong forces?" Kasam doubted.
"Rember, even a skinny cal is bigger than a horse; God Organization may not be as mighty as before, yet if we can’t handle the Wild Alliance, you’re woefully uninford," Ghost mocked. Truthfully, Ghost was the only person from God Organization in Ba Country, and the covert intelligence personnel had minimal impact. His assurances were entirely fabricated.
Nevertheless, Kasam who revered the God Organization believed him, certain that the Forbidden Powerhouse Ghost wouldn’t lie.
Kasam now had no choice but to follow Ghost down this path into darkness, having boarded Ghost’s ship with no ans of disembarkation.
For the sake of reputation, current status, and his family’s life, he forced himself to believe Ghost without a shred of doubt.
He didn’t want a confrontation with Wild Alliance nor wanted them to turn against him. He thought Wild Alliance should cooperate with him to remove Yahward’s opposition and unite Ba Country.
Therefore, if Wild Alliance truly threatened him, perhaps a change of blood was in order.
Night soon fell.
"No information or trace of Ye Fan," Ghost received this ssage.
Ghost’s tense heart finally relaxed, inwardly murmuring, "I was overthinking; having intel triple-check my apprehensions. Terminator may be mighty, but repeated bomb assaults would reduce even an iron man to fragnts, let alone flesh and blood. Terminator’s myth will beco history, leaving no place for him in the Underworld."
It had been half a day since the attack on the Wild Alliance Headquarters.
Ghost dispelled his final doubts, certain that Terminator truly was dead.
Ready to depart, he cared not for Kasam’s fate, viewing him as nothing more than a chess piece.
anwhile, Ye Fan, Ku Eryue, and Nami took advantage of the night under Nami’s guidance, approaching Kasam’s residence.
