Chapter 989: Chapter 989: A Life for a Life

The Wild Alliance Headquarters built an underground secret escape route, which allowed Ye Fan, Nami, Ku Eryue, and Tie Zhongshi to successfully retreat. As for the other mbers of the Wild Alliance, they simply didn’t have ti to evacuate, with orders unable to be executed. Under Ye Fan’s leadership, the four managed to escape, otherwise in such bombardnt, survival would have been nearly impossible.

Tie Zhongshi showed a look of lingering fear, his heart still beating violently and his nerves unable to calm down. The urgency and tension of the escape were still fresh in his mind, leaving his face bleak.

Nami was disoriented, trying her best not to think, but the less she tried, the clearer the image of the fighter jets’ attack beca. On the surface, it seed almost definite that Kasam was behind it, but she was also completely convinced Kasam wouldn’t do such a thing. As a result, her contradictory feelings left her with imnse bitterness.

Ku Eryue was full of murderous intent; there were about six to seven hundred elite mbers at the Wild Alliance Headquarters. In previous attacks by the Hunting Squad Nine, only a dozen were killed or injured, but under the airstrike, all perished. This deep hatred was overwhelming.

"Is it safe here?" Ye Fan asked calmly, suppressing his cold killing intent without revealing it.

"This is my secret refuge, similar to a fully-equipped safe house, absolutely safe," Ku Eryue assured with confidence.

Ye Fan glanced at the despondent Nami and Tie Zhongshi sitting on the sofa, then turned on the TV, hoping to glean so information from the reports. Upon turning it on, he was surprised to find almost all the remarks were Kasam accusing Yahward.

Nami’s attention was imdiately caught by the TV; she wanted to find evidence and reasoning that Yahward was the mastermind. However, she was disappointed to find that even the excuses accusing Yahward were flimsy and unconvincing.

"Was it really Yahward? Did Yahward’s spies infiltrate Kasam’s fighter jet units?" Tie Zhongshi questioned full of doubt.

"It’s impossible; let’s not be deceived by superficial news. Kasam couldn’t be that incompetent; even if there are spies in his ranks, that’s quite normal. But for an entire fighter jet unit to beco spies, even ghosts wouldn’t believe it. Kasam swiftly executed those pilots; it all seems like a cover-up," Ku Eryue said, with her gaze aningfully resting on Nami. "Miss Nami, what’s your judgnt?"

Nami’s heart ached; Ku Eryue’s cold and distant stare wounded her deeply. She feebly defended, "Kasam—how could he commit such a heartless atrocity?"

"Please, don’t let emotions skew your judgnt; think carefully. Even if Yahward wielded such strong air power, the first target wouldn’t be the Wild Alliance, nor strike us after so many elites were lost and Michael surrendered. Even if Yahward was foolhardy enough to attack us, once those pilots’ identities were exposed, they wouldn’t return to Kasam to die but instead retreat to Yahward’s camp," Ku Eryue reasoned thoroughly.

Nami hung her head, speechless, admitting she struggled to accept the truth.

"Can we trust you?" Ye Fan asked Nami directly.

Nami’s expression changed multiple tis before she resolutely declared, "If Kasam truly did this, I will definitely demand an explanation and won’t let him off. I am also a target, and we’re in this together."

She was genuinely afraid of being estranged by Ye Fan and the others; such treatnt would cause her even greater pain.

"We’re together in this; we believe you," Ye Fan acknowledged Nami, then firmly stated, "From now on, turn off your phones and ignore outside information. We’ll move when the ti is right."

Nami, Ku Eryue, and Tie Zhongshi severed all external contacts, leaving only Ye Fan’s phone on.

"The Wild Alliance must be in chaos now, the public gullible and echoing Kasam’s words, directing all bla and outrage at Yahward. The calls for revenge are getting louder, and I worry the Wild Alliance might lose rationality and join forces with Kasam to attack Yahward full-tilt. If it was simply about attacking Yahward before, it wouldn’t be a problem. But now, without understanding the situation, we shouldn’t act rashly," Ku Eryue said with so worry.

"Trust that the leaders stationed in other regions of the Wild Alliance will handle this; they must possess the capability to act independently. Let them manage their affairs, and we should refrain from interference," Ye Fan considered thoughtfully.

"But what if they act recklessly?" Ku Eryue still had her concerns.

"That’s just worry causing chaos. Although you often reside in Ba Country and know your subordinates well, don’t underestimate the leaders in other regions. While so may lose reason and seek revenge blindly, others will sense the extraordinary situation and respond appropriately," Ye Fan calmly reassured.

After hearing Ye Fan’s words, Ku Eryue felt at ease.

She also believed that after learning of the headquarters’ destruction and the unknown fate of the top leader, even amidst irrational thoughts of revenge, finding the true culprit would indeed be their decision.

During this ti, Ye Fan’s phone rang several tis, all calls from Lani, which he didn’t answer.

"Mr. Ye, what should we do next?" Nami tentatively asked, knowing fully well that Ye Fan would naturally seek out Kasam for answers given his nature. Moreover, after witnessing such loss and the deaths of many at the Wild Alliance Headquarters, once it’s confird Kasam was behind it, Ye Fan would undoubtedly kill Kasam for revenge.

Would Ye Fan hesitate because Kasam is Ba Country’s leader?

The answer is clear: Ye Fan wouldn’t care.

Nami understood this very well.

She was also incredibly angry, extrely dissatisfied with Kasam’s actions.

"Once night falls, we’ll visit Kasam. You know where he usually spends his evenings, right?" Ye Fan asked Nami.

"I know," Nami affird.

"That’s good," Ye Fan consented.

Nami cautiously asked, "If it turns out that Kasam did indeed attack us, what will you do?"

"In Huaxia, there’s an old saying: A life for a life, a debt must be repaid—it’s natural law. Especially for such heartless, treacherous actions, there’s an expectation of death," Ye Fan replied calmly.
