lina had been waiting in the car, wondering what might be happening inside the house while also trying to figure out her own feelings in all this situation.
She did care about her son and husband, but she also couldn't deny the attraction she had been feeling towards Lucian.
Yet she feared that Lucian might have already planned sothing for her and her family.
Now that she was finally thinking about the past and present without the thoughts of money, status, and luxury, lina realized how morally wrong their actions had been; not only did they steal away Lucian's money, but they also made him live in such poor conditions.
She sighed, astonished at herself; the thirst for money could really drive a person to madness—just like how her husband would do anything to get more of Lucian's money, even if he got to know what Lucian and she did every night. lina felt Robert wouldn't object as long as he could get more money out of it.
Although she had co to regret her decisions and actions, she knew it was already way too long; she couldn't bring back all those years during which Lucian had suffered, and even now, she and her family were scheming to take away more money. She decided to accept any kind of punishnt Lucian was planning to give her.
"Greed truly destroys everything. If we had truly acted like a family and protected Lucian, I am sure we would be thousands of tis happier; even though we got the money, it took away so many things." lina sighed again in her mind.
In such a short ti of sleeping while hugging him close, she felt so attached to him that she wasn't sleeping beside him to try and fool him any longer; instead, she really enjoyed his company and always looked forward to the nightti or the sudden kisses she received from him, which were in no way right considering their relation, but she just loved that sensation.
Her thoughts ca to a pause as Lucian opened the car door and sat inside. His face was solemn and he seed to be in a bad mood; she sat silently and didn't ask anything, ready to give her fate completely into his hands.
Lucian took a few deep breaths to calm his mind, and soon he drove the car away from there. He was sure there were going to be several headlines about his uncle's family tomorrow.
After a few minutes' ride, Lucian finally cald down and his mood beca a bit better. Then he glanced to the side and saw his aunt already staring at him with a complicated look in her eyes.
"What's wrong?" Lucian asked in a neutral voice, not showing any emotion.
"So what are you planning to do with ?" lina spoke, biting her lip softly.
"…" He remained silent as if considering her words. After a couple of tense minutes, he finally spoke:
"Although Robert bears more responsibility in what happened with , you too share a large part.
I had childishly believed you at that ti and hoped that you were different from the others, so it wouldn't be so easy for to forgive you. But if you help take revenge on your family, then I can give you a chance. So, are you willing to—"
Before Lucian could finish speaking, lina nodded her head several tis and agreed: "I will do whatever you ask to, even if I have to confess my cris to the police.
I know the extent of my cris. Your father—he was always so good to —but… but I had gone mad; it is all my fault, so tell what you want. I will do anything to atone for my sins." She spoke with a remorseful yet resolute expression.
"…" Lucian didn't expect her to actually understand her mistakes so soon and easily. He was a little surprised since her expressions and emotions seed genuine, but still he couldn't just erase the hate he felt towards her. However, in the current situation, he also couldn't think of ways to punish her.
Inflicting pain didn't really seem like a good option, so he decided to break her mind further with guilt and make her feel the pain internally.
"Alright, co to watch my play tomorrow along with your little family—the greedy bunch who would stop at nothing to get more money. The family willing to sell off their own just for money.
To be honest, you were more of a mother to than my own mother, and after my father's death, I felt solely dependent on you, so your betrayal was the thing that hurt the most. I wasn't as close with the others in the family." Lucian spoke, his tone sounding pained and hurt.
lina, finally aware of her wrongdoings, felt each word from him strike her heart like arrows. She couldn't et his gaze as her guilt built more and more inside her.
She stared down at her legs as tears welled up in her eyes and she clutched her clothes tightly, cursing herself for such monstrous actions.
Before her husband and Joseph had proposed to steal away Lucian's money, she really did care for him just like she did for her own child. The two of them were quite close, but money and her greed ruined it all. The more she thought about it, the more pain she felt.
"Sigh, Auntie, all that ti I kept hoping you would co for —all the ti I spent in that broken house, surrounded by so many gangsters, I couldn't sleep for so many nights, living through the nightmare that you thrust into. Even when I was barely surviving out there, you were living the life of your dreams, throwing around money and living in luxury.
I felt so disappointed and heartbroken. Even after eting again, you were only after my money; you didn't once ask or care how I lived all this ti. Just for that money, you were even allowing to touch you. It's really hard to believe you have fallen so low." Lucian added, his words ant solely to hurt her.
Then he fell silent, letting lina sob in silence as the drive continued. Seeing her face, he knew this was enough for now; he needed to burn up her rotten parts, completely turning her over to a new leaf—even if he had to break her apart ti and ti again.
Soon they arrived in front of her house. Lucian paused the car and, after reminding her to co to the drama venue, he sent her away, letting her drown in her sorrow and guilt.
Being alone now was better so she could feel even more pain as she rembered his words and her own actions.
After lina entered her house, she went directly to her room and locked herself up there.
Seeing her enter the house, Lucian drove away, quite satisfied with her reaction, then he headed back towards his house. It had been quite long since he had last seen Angelina and Tess.
"Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day. I should bring Lara too—better to deal with them all at once," he thought.
