Upon hearing her words, Aidan Lockwood appeared sowhat surprised. He had noticed the differences in Shannon Quinn during that period. When he drove her ho and saw the apartnt building where she lived, he had so suspicions.
Given her financial situation, she would hardly splurge on such a luxurious apartnt. At that ti, he thought she might be dating soone, or perhaps... being kept.
But since it was her personal matter, although he speculated, he had never asked her face-to-face.
He never expected that she was married at that ti.
"I’m sorry, teacher, for deceiving you for so long. It’s kind of a secret marriage, so I rarely ntioned it to people around ."
"Why are you telling now?"
"I... I’m pregnant. So once my belly starts showing, it won’t be easy to keep it a secret, and I won’t know how to explain it to the people around, fearing they might gossip."
Aidan Lockwood slowly digested this information, realizing that her willingness to confide in him showed a level of trust she had in him.
"So, are you planning to have the baby at ho and then return?"
"... I do have that plan, but I will also complete the tasks you assign from ho. However... if it’s really inconvenient, I can temporarily resign."
Shannon Quinn really didn’t want to lose this job. Although she had so savings now, which were barely enough for her lifestyle, there would still be many expenses for the child in the future. She didn’t want her child to suffer due to her incompetence.
Aidan Lockwood took a deep breath and said, "Where else am I supposed to find such an excellent designer if you resign? Let’s go with what you said; you can work from ho. I’ll continue to pay you, but do take care of yourself since you’re pregnant. If you have any difficulties, just tell . Don’t hide things from for so long, like this matter."
Seeing Aidan Lockwood agree with her suggestion, Shannon Quinn was visibly happy and nodded heavily. "I won’t anymore. Thank you, teacher."
Aidan Lockwood picked up his teacup and took a sip, tentatively asking, "How are things with your husband...?"
Hearing her ntion a business marriage and not having seen her with any man, except before Landon Sutton appeared, Shannon Quinn had spent almost all her ti at the studio, not like a married woman at all.
Shannon Quinn felt there was no need to deceive Aidan Lockwood, "Actually... being married or not is more or less the sa to ; we live our own lives separately and rarely et."
"So, does he..." glancing at her belly, which did not yet show any signs of pregnancy, he continued, "care about the child?"
Shannon Quinn lowered her gaze, contemplating Vincent Rhodes’s attitude towards the child. He had agreed to let her give birth to a child that wasn’t his, showing the greatest tolerance and love for her and the child, she thought.
Though she couldn’t claim to know him well, having t him fewer tis than so work clients, she felt she couldn’t complain much about Vincent Rhodes.
After a mont of thought, she chuckled and said, "Actually, he’s just busy, so he can’t accompany often. He’s quite nice to ."
"Oh... then that’s good."
Shannon Quinn chose to be honest with Aidan Lockwood because she knew he had never probed deeply into such matters.
Just like now, he only asked if she was doing well, not who her husband was.
Sotis, knowing soone has unspeakable secrets yet not revealing them also counts as a form of wit and politeness.
In the following days, Shannon Quinn refrained from visiting the hospital to see Landon Sutton, inquiring about his condition through Ronan Rhodes. He did, however, send her a ssage, rely reminding her not to forget to take care of his cat, which Shannon Quinn chose not to reply to.
Calculating the ti, the child in her belly was over a month old, and it was ti to go to the hospital for a check-up.
Over the weekend, she arranged to go with Erin Bishop to the private hospital they had visited last ti.
"The baby is very healthy, just pay attention to your diet and rest, and there shouldn’t be any major issues."
Shannon Quinn nodded with a smile, and the doctor took a closer look at her, smiling as she asked, "Have you decided to keep the child?"
"Yes."
"Was it your decision, or did you decide with the father of the child?"
Shannon Quinn hesitated for a mont, then replied, "I discussed it with my husband."
"That’s good. I’ve t many young won coming to my clinic; many got pregnant without getting married, and the boy doesn’t want to take responsibility, resulting in many abortion surgeries. Although it’s a common procedure without risks, it does harm a girl’s body significantly, it’s the kids being reckless."
Shannon Quinn thought to herself that if not for Vincent Rhodes’s generosity, perhaps the child in her belly would no longer exist.
Though the child’s existence was sowhat awkward, it was still a life inside her belly, and the thought of ending the child’s life seed cruel. Thankfully, she didn’t have to make such a difficult choice.
After leaving the hospital, Erin Bishop asked her, "Has Vincent Rhodes not reached out to you yet?"
Shannon Quinn shook her head.
"Ah, n are unreliable. He agreed to let you give birth, but you’ll probably end up raising the child alone."
"That’s fine... at least I’ll have the child to accompany in the future."
"So... have you ever thought about finding this child’s father?"
Shannon Quinn’s smile froze, and she quickly lied, "Where would I even look? I don’t know who it is."
"Didn’t you say that night happened at a hotel? You could check the hotel’s stay records."
"...I’ve forgotten which room it was."
"Forget it, forget it. Finding him might just cause more trouble. If he’s a thug like Jett Quinn, you’d just be asking for trouble. Anyway, it’s not like we can’t afford to raise this child ourselves. No need to depend on those useless n."
Shannon Quinn smiled, gently placing her hand on her belly.
She was grateful to have Erin Bishop by her side to guide and support her, or she might still be troubled by these issues.
"By the way, has Landon Sutton been discharged yet?"
"According to Ronan Rhodes, it should be any day now. The hospital advised him to stay for further observation, but he couldn’t stand it anymore."
"Aren’t you going to visit him at the hospital? After all, he saved you."
Shannon Quinn hesitated and said, "I’ve been busy with work these past couple of days."
"Let’s go now. I just happen to have sothing to ask Ronan Rhodes."
Shannon Quinn got into the passenger seat, and as Erin Bishop started the car and fastened her seatbelt, Shannon asked her, "To ask about his brother?"
"Yes, last ti he said his brother was coming back soon. I want to know the exact date."
"Are you planning to see him?"
"Do you think knowing he’s back, I wouldn’t go find him, or could I hold back?"
"Are you thinking of getting back together with him?"
Erin Bishop thought for a mont and said, "It’s not impossible to reconcile, but he must give a reasonable explanation. Otherwise, I won’t forgive him!"
