In the restaurant.

"How is Grandpa doing?" Skylar asked with concern when she saw Shannon hang up the phone with Landon.

Shannon smiled and said, "Grandpa is out of the operating room, but he’s still in the ICU. Simon and Vincent staying there won’t help much, so I told them to co over for dinner once they’ve finished the paperwork."

Skylar also relaxed and said, "Good to hear he’s okay."

Shannon sighed, "But Grandpa’s getting old; when he gets sick, it’s unlikely he’ll be as vigorous as he used to be."

"Since our wedding, Simon and I haven’t visited him much; we should spend more ti with him in the future."

"Exactly, the elderly don’t have many opportunities left; Grandpa always says he doesn’t like us disturbing him, but whenever he knows we’re visiting, he prepares everything. How can an old person not look forward to being visited?"

Skylar looked outside the window and pointed, "Shannon, is that Sheila?"

Shannon followed Skylar’s finger and saw Sheila and Isaac getting out of a car one after the other.

The temperature outside was low; Isaac grabbed Sheila’s hand in his palm.

Shannon chuckled and said, "That’s her boyfriend; it looks like she’s bringing him ho for the holidays."

Skylar was surprised and asked, "Didn’t you suspect she had sothing going on with Caleb?"

"I did, but that can’t interfere with them. Besides, Sheila’s already found a boyfriend, so it doesn’t matter if Caleb is relevant or not; she’s made her decision."

"If Peach is indeed Sheila’s child, she’s probably still holding onto it emotionally."

"Everyone has their own problems. If this guy treats Sheila well, it’s good they’re together."

While chatting, Sheila entered the restaurant, and upon searching for a seat, she spotted Shannon and Skylar.

The two approached, and Sheila greeted them with a smile, "Hey, are you having lunch here too?"

Shannon nodded, asking, "Why are you here by the hospital?"

Sheila glanced at Isaac before explaining, "His aunt is sick, so we ca to visit her."

Shannon teased with a smile, "So for this New Year, will you both be having dinner with the family?"

Isaac replied with a friendly smile, "I’ll arrange ti to go with Sheila ahead of ti. However, for the official New Year celebration, Sheila might have to co with to my ho."

Shannon said, "Alright, let know the date in advance, so I can prepare Mom. How about sitting with us? We just started eating."

Sheila politely declined with a gentle smile, "He has two friends coming over later; they’ve already made a reservation."

"Alright then, we’ll have a al together next ti."

Isaac wrapped an arm around Sheila’s waist. Sheila stiffened noticeably before relaxing. Isaac smiled and said, "I’ll treat next ti, so we’ll head over now."

Shannon nodded, smiled, and said "Sure"; after the two left, she couldn’t help but glance at Isaac more and then asked Skylar, "What do you think of him?"

Skylar also looked over at the departing couple, pressed her lips, and said, "He seems okay. They don’t look entirely comfortable yet; perhaps they haven’t been together long, and Sheila is more shy and reserved. Given ti, it could get better."

As Shannon continued eating, she said, "Sutton told this guy used to be a bit of a player; hope he doesn’t do anything to let Sheila down now."

Skylar added, "Right, I got the impression he’s quite slick, at least hope he doesn’t use that with Sheila."

During the al, the Rhodes brothers arrived.

Shannon saw them walking towards the restaurant, chatting about sothing.

When they entered, both Shannon and Skylar waved, and the brothers ca over, sitting next to their wives.

Shannon handed them the nu, saying, "Didn’t wait for you, so order what you want."

Simon handed the nu to Landon, saying, "Vincent, you pick, I’ll eat anything."

Landon didn’t refuse, browsed the nu and ordered a few dishes.

Simon said, "Grandpa’s condition is relatively stable now, but he has to stay in ICU for a few more days; we can’t see him even if we want to, so no need to watch over at the hospital. The doctor will call us if anything happens."

Skylar said, "Good, I’ve got two babies in my belly waiting to et their great-grandfather."

Simon didn’t react right away; he drank a sip of tea and then realized, asking Skylar, "What did you just say? Two babies?"

Skylar smiled, and Shannon said, "Mr. Rhodes, you’re lucky; Skylar’s pregnant with twins."

"Really?!"

Skylar nodded, "I just found out during today’s check-up."

Simon eagerly picked food for Skylar, "You better eat more then."

Landon glanced enviously at Shannon’s belly, asking her, "Might you also have two?"

Shannon rolled her eyes, "Eat, go ho, wash up, and sleep. In your dreams, you can have as many as you want."

After lunch, the brothers went to get the car. Shannon and Skylar waited by the roadside.

From there, they could see the hospital’s main entrance.

Shannon saw a familiar figure carrying a child, coming out of the hospital. She looked at Skylar beside her and asked, "Is that Shawn?"

Skylar seed to have noticed Shawn and his child as well, softly sighed, "Didn’t expect his child to be this big already."

"I heard he and Laura still couldn’t get married."

"His mom always opposes them being together; I dared not tell her about our divorce for quite a while. She wishes he’d find soone more respectable, but Laura’s temperant can be impulsive."

Shannon took a deep breath, watched Simon’s car approaching, and smiled at Skylar, "You don’t know whether to thank Shawn; if he treated you well, you and Mr. Rhodes might not be together today."

Skylar thought for a mont and said, "True, if he treated well, I might have stayed with him for life, and Simon probably wouldn’t have confessed his feelings. He only dared to step in because I was mistreated post-marriage; he told that."

"It’s fate, isn’t it? He fell in love with you at first sight, and still managed to make you his wife after all the back-and-forth."
