The fervor she had to showcase her culinary skills was completely extinguished by a bucket of cold water.
Deflated, she lay on the sofa. The person left, the cat left, and she couldn’t understand why she felt so despondent.
She had been living alone all along, whether it was people or cats, none stayed with her for long, but even this short period of ti was enough to create a void in her heart.
What she couldn’t quite get over was Vincent Rhodes leaving without a word.
Even if he had just called or sent a text before leaving, it would have been sothing.
But there was nothing.
The sky outside grew darker, and Shannon Quinn just stayed there on the sofa, without turning on the lights.
In the darkness, she sat up on the sofa, and tears uncontrollably spilled from her eyes, so she hurriedly wiped them away with her hand.
Was her emotional sensitivity due to pregnancy?
She got up, turned on all the lights, and went into the kitchen to silently organize the groceries into the refrigerator.
She had to eat for the sake of the child in her stomach; it wasn’t worth it to starve herself because of such a selfish person.
It’s better now that he left. Peace and quiet alone, and she wouldn’t have to spend a lot of ti taking care of him every day. He can go wherever he desires, and as for not telling her, she couldn’t care less. It’d be best if he never showed up again!
She was in a bad mood the whole night and couldn’t care less about the design drafts. She watched variety shows on the computer all night; she laughed, yet wasn’t much happier.
The computer was still playing, but she had already fallen asleep on the bed.
The next day, she precisely went to the studio. While washing her face in the morning, she saw the ring on her ring finger and imdiately took it off, putting it back into the drawer.
"Shannon, where did you go these past couple of days? The boss left for an overseas business trip, and you snuck out on a date?"
"Dating your ghost! Where are your design plans? Bring them to my office."
"Why so serious in the morning? Why the temper? Your relative ca to visit?"
Shannon glared at Yara Hughes, who imdiately smiled and nodded, saying, "I’ll go collect them right away."
Yara walked to another studio, where a bunch of people gathered around: "What’s the new gossip? Tell us! Are we still going to Landon Sutton’s wedding banquet?"
Yara pouted and shook her head: "I think her relative ca; she’s in a very bad mood. I just said one sentence, and she snapped at , told you all to hand over the design plans."
"Oh, I say Shannon doesn’t realize how blessed she is. If I weren’t married with kids, I’d definitely pursue Landon Sutton."
"You? Even if you stripped down, Landon Sutton wouldn’t give you the ti of day."
"Hey, I think it’s over between Shannon and Landon Sutton. Think about it, how long has it been since he last ca to our place?"
"Just because he doesn’t co here doesn’t an he can’t et Shannon privately, right? What if they’ve already gotten together and are secretly dating?"
"Nah, I reckon Shannon’s temper probably scared Landon Sutton away."
"If you ask , Shannon has foresight. A man like Landon Sutton isn’t reliable. Looks good but isn’t useful, can’t commit."
"Having a company eting?"
Hearing Shannon Quinn’s voice, the gathered crowd imdiately dispersed, each returning to their work stations.
"eting at nine, everyone get ready."
Shannon wasn’t deaf; she heard them gossiping about Landon Sutton.
She wanted to move past this Chapter quickly, but thinking about the child inside her made her unsettled.
Speaking of which, she hadn’t seen him for days. Could it be he left the cat with her and took off?
Looking at him, he didn’t seem like soone who would take care of a cat. Being busy traveling for business ten days to half a month at a ti, where would he find ti to care for a kitten every day?
"Shannon, soone downstairs is looking for you."
"Who?"
"That Miss Yardley from last ti; she ca the day before yesterday too, but you weren’t here."
Shannon Quinn furrowed her brows, rembering the experience from the banquet that night. She truly didn’t want to et June Yardley again.
Recalling how the child in her stomach was still safe despite her serious injury last ti, maybe it was destiny binding her to this child.
"Just tell her I’m not here."
"Huh? But I already said you ca to work today." The front desk girl said, puzzled, "Aren’t you friends with her? Why are you avoiding her?"
Shannon took a deep breath, didn’t explain anything, just said, "I’ll go down later, have her wait."
Wasn’t last ti satisfying enough? She’s still coming to make trouble?
Standing up, tidying her clothes, she walked down the stairs.
June Yardley was still sitting in the corner spot from last ti, dressed in branded goods from head to toe, impeccably styled, but her face looked displeased.
Unsure what had upset this young lady again, Shannon Quinn walked over, sat opposite her, and flashed a standard smile, looking at June Yardley, asking, "What brings you all the way here, Miss Yardley?"
June Yardley sneered, "I thought you were hiding and didn’t dare co out!"
"I’m quite afraid of you, after all, Miss Yardley can be ruthless, even to herself."
"You’re a hundred tis more ruthless than I am!"
"Miss Yardley, you overestimate ; if you claim second place, no one would dare claim first. I believe you didn’t co looking for repeatedly just to bicker with , right? If there’s sothing, just say it directly. I’m quite busy."
June Yardley glared at her viciously: "What? Do you think getting out of the Rhodes Family ans no one can touch you? Let tell you, even without Simon Rhodes, even if I can’t marry him, I won’t let you go! I’ll drag you down with if I have to!"
Shannon Quinn frowned, not quite understanding what she ant. What did she an by claiming she got her out of the Rhodes Family? Wasn’t she confident about marrying Simon Rhodes? Why co to say sothing so extre?
"I’ll settle this score with you later. Today, I’m here on behalf of my sister."
"You’re such a considerate sister; I’d want a sister like you."
"Shut up! Where did you take Landon Sutton?"
Shannon Quinn chuckled and said, "Sister, you’ve got the wrong person. Landon Sutton isn’t my man, so why would he report to on his whereabouts? Or do you think this is a police station? We only handle designs, not missing persons."
"Stop pretending. Would he stand up for you if you weren’t close? You really think no one knows about your shady dealings outside, unchecked and unrestrained?"
"Sister, that’s forcing too much. If you’re really out of options, I can accompany you to the airport to file a report, let the professionals help you find him. We’re in the wrong field, at most we can only help put up so missing persons notices on the street." Shannon paused and added, "Or are you too stingy to spend on printing fees? It’s okay; we have a printer here. However many missing notices you need, I can have them printed for you for free right now."
