Like she didn’t catch the derision in Shannon Quinn’s words, the woman still replied with a smile, "Thank you for the complint, ma’am."
Landon Sutton was well aware of Shannon Quinn’s current jealousy, and he frowned, "Get out, and don’t enter my office again without my permission."
"Sorry, President Sutton." The woman looked aggrieved as she turned and left, walking away in high heels.
Shannon Quinn said sarcastically, "Why were you so harsh on her? She was kind enough to make you coffee, and you didn’t even say thank you."
Landon Sutton chuckled, reached out to grab her wrist, and pulled her onto his lap, "Let get a whiff, who’s vinegar jar just got knocked over?"
Shannon Quinn reached out to push his approaching face away and muttered, "Are your hiring standards now based on the ancient palace beauty selections?"
"I wasn’t the one who hired her, and besides, she’s the one trying to seduce your husband. Your husband did nothing, yet you’re questioning him like this. Do you think your husband deserves this?"
Shannon Quinn glared at him, "Really did nothing at all?"
Landon Sutton frowned, "What kind of filthy things are you thinking about?"
"Seeing her like this, you had no reaction at all?"
Landon Sutton’s hand mischievously landed on her butt as he smiled at her, "What reaction could I have seeing her? But seeing you, though..."
Before he could finish, Shannon Quinn dodged his hand and said irritably, "How do you have so much energy all day? Can you show so restraint?"
Landon Sutton chuckled softly, looking up at her from his chair, "I’m just worried that when your sister cos, I won’t even be able to touch you."
At this topic, Shannon Quinn suddenly got serious, "So according to you, there’s a high chance of you cheating while I’m pregnant."
"Nonsense."
"With your current frequency, forget about enduring ten months, even ten days might be hard."
"But we’re already having our second child—didn’t I hold out just fine when you were pregnant with Leo? You’re underestimating your husband."
Shannon Quinn knew he had self-control, but she still disliked those "butterflies" flitting around him.
During lunch, they ran into that assistant again, and she heard her colleagues call her Jade.
"President Sutton, Mrs. Sutton, what a coincidence, you’re eating here too?" She broke away from her colleagues and ran over to greet Shannon Quinn and Landon.
Shannon Quinn nodded with a smile, "There are only a few restaurants near the company. It’s not that much of a coincidence."
Julia Young: "I really envy you, Mrs. Sutton. You and President Sutton have been married for so long but are still inseparable and so sweet."
Shannon Quinn smiled generously, "I have to keep an eye on him."
"Oh? So you’re still worried about President Sutton?"
Shannon Quinn curled her lips as she looked at Julia Young, "I’m not worried about him; I’m worried about those won outside. You have no idea how so people just don’t know their place. They know this man has a family, but they still don’t give up."
Julia Young pretended not to understand and yet agreed with Shannon, "That’s true. President Sutton is so excellent that many eyes are definitely on him, hoping for so discord between you to take advantage."
Just as Shannon was about to reply, Julia’s phone rang, and she shook it with a smile, "My friend’s here, so I won’t bother you anymore."
Watching her answer her phone and walk towards an empty table, Shannon noticed that she wasn’t dining with the company’s colleagues.
When she saw the "friend" Julia ntioned, Shannon realized her intuition was correct—this woman wasn’t simple.
Because the person she was eting was June Yardley.
June Yardley had changed a lot; her entire deanor was different from before. Her pride seed forced, and she was so thin that she was skin and bones. Her sunken cheeks and eye sockets made her look much older, barely recognizable.
June Yardley’s arrival inevitably made Shannon vigilant. Ever since Claire Yardley’s imprisonnt, she had been worried that June would seek revenge.
Previously, she had inquired about June’s situation from Seth Fairchild. Seth said June had been overseas for so ti, but he didn’t know specific details.
The relationship between them was more of mutual use for so interests rather than a romantic one.
"Just eat your lunch without overthinking; it’s just two won, they can’t stir up much trouble." Landon Sutton placed a piece of at in Shannon’s bowl. Although Shannon hadn’t said anything, he accurately guessed what she was thinking.
Shannon Quinn bit her lip, "I’m worried they might target Leo again. When I go to school in the afternoon, I’ll talk to the teachers to keep an extra eye on him. I’ll also tell Leo to be more aware."
Landon Sutton chuckled, "Since you’re so concerned, I’ll handle this matter as soon as possible, so you can give birth to our little princess in peace."
"How do you plan to handle it? Don’t do anything illegal."
Landon Sutton laughed, "You’re doubting your husband’s abilities. Just leave it to . Do you have anything this afternoon?"
Shannon Quinn nodded, "I need to stop by the office."
"Not keeping an eye on at the office?"
Shannon Quinn shot him a look, rolled her eyes, and said, "If a man wants to be good, he’ll be good by himself. If he can be loyal, great, but if he can’t, I won’t force it. After all, I’m young and beautiful; it won’t be hard to remarry."
Landon Sutton’s smile disappeared imdiately, "So I should be the one keeping a close eye on you?"
Shannon Quinn squinted at him and smiled, "I’m quite in demand."
"How about a trip to the beauty salon then?"
Shannon Quinn was puzzled by the sudden suggestion, "Huh?"
Landon Sutton: "Maybe it’s been too long since you’ve had a facial, and your skin’s getting thicker."
Shannon Quinn rolled her eyes at him, "Not as thick as yours!"
After lunch, Landon Sutton dropped Shannon at her office, then instead of heading back to work, he went to the police station.
"Nate, what brings you here?" Vincent Irving ca out and asked with a smile.
Landon Sutton didn’t exchange pleasantries, directly saying, "I need a favor."
"Go ahead."
"I need you to look into soone."
"Hmm? For sothing so small, did you really have to co here yourself?"
Landon Sutton: "June Yardley. Check if she has any criminal record, or see if she’s ever dabbled in anything illegal in the past, especially drugs."
Vincent Irving was a bit puzzled, "Isn’t that the drug squad’s business? I don’t have any leads here—unless you have so evidence, Nate?"
Landon Sutton was straightforward and honest, "No."
Vincent Irving’s mouth twitched slightly, "...Alright then, I’ll have soone follow up on the investigation."
Landon Sutton nodded, "Yes, if she’s guilty, arrest her. If she’s not, find a way to pin sothing on her. Look into her thoroughly, I’m sure there’s sothing."
