Every ti she saw her friends around her one by one get into discussions of marriage, then get married and have children, she felt envious inside.
She would think, if she hadn’t gone through all these things, would she too have found a simple family to marry into, and live a mundane life, have a child or two...
What seems to be a very ordinary thing might be a luxury for her.
Being alone for too long, she always feels she has gotten used to it, but in reality, when she sees others in love, she still feels envious inside.
She fantasizes about how nice it would be if there was soone by her side to care for each other and accompany each other.
And she doesn’t know how long she must sustain this marriage, consu her youth, maybe even her whole life? Or perhaps once Vincent Rhodes ets his goals, he would divorce her?
She doesn’t know, she can only settle for the status quo, yet she still yearns for a better future.
She thinks if she doesn’t have a child in her lifeti, it would be a regret, making her life incomplete.
Children...
Muttering these two words in her heart, as if suddenly realizing sothing, her face turned pale instantly.
After that night’s event, she rushed to the Rhodes Family early the next morning to attend the ancestral worship, completely forgetting about contraception!
When was her last period? It was just one ti; it shouldn’t have happened, right?
Shannon Quinn hurriedly looked through the calendar on the table, fortunately, she wasn’t past her period date.
Comforting herself, Shannon Quinn’s heart was still flustered and frantic.
A mont ago she was still fantasizing about what it would be like if she had children in the future.
And now, realizing she might be pregnant, she feels imnsely resistant because it might be the result of a one-night stand outside her marriage, she doesn’t want that night’s event to keep impacting her future life.
In her mind she calculated, it has been more than ten days since that night, such an early stage, she doesn’t know if it can be detected.
She’s also afraid to go to the hospital for a test, afraid Vincent Rhodes would find out.
That night when she got ho, she kept thinking restlessly, and in the end, she took out her phone and bought a pregnancy test kit on the online store.
She also checked online for a whole bunch of information about pregnancy, and it seems she hasn’t yet shown signs of pregnancy, maybe she’s overthinking it?
In a few more days, once her period starts, everything should be fine...
"Ding dong"
The doorbell rang, and Shannon Quinn wasn’t sure why she felt guilty, hurriedly exited the browser, turned off the phone screen before getting up to open the door.
As expected, it was her new neighbor.
"I was on a business trip a few days ago, here’s your screwdriver back."
Shannon Quinn glanced at him, took the screwdriver expressionlessly, and was about to close the door.
Landon Sutton anwhile blocked the door with his hand, looking at her he asked: "What’s wrong? Not in a good mood?"
"None of your damn business?"
Shannon Quinn increased the force, but Landon Sutton took a step forward, half of his body pushed through, "I was the one who saved you that night, not even a word of thanks?"
"Thanks!" Shannon Quinn said fiercely, clearly not in a thankful tone, just seeming like wanting to get rid of Landon Sutton quickly.
Landon Sutton however smiled contentedly, scanning her apartnt inside, he asked: "Isn’t your relationship with your husband good? Why are you living separately?"
Shannon Quinn looked at him impatiently and said firmly: "My husband’s busy working on a business trip out of town, is that not okay with you? That’s none of your concern! Get out!"
"Stop pretending, who are you putting on a show for? That night you were bullied so badly, your husband didn’t even show up, if it weren’t for , you might still be lying in the hospital."
Shannon Quinn knew his words made sense, but she found them piercing and shoved him out with her strength; he didn’t force entry, retreating with her force.
The next second Shannon Quinn slamd the door shut with a bang, holding two screwdrivers in her hand, her heart felt like a tangled ss, unable to sort it out.
Landon Sutton stood outside the door, gazing at the door thoughtfully, before finally returning to his room.
As soon as he got back, he picked up his phone and called Ronan Rhodes: "Get a cat."
"What?" Ronan Rhodes thought he surely misheard.
"Cat."
"Master Nate, what’s going on in the middle of the night this ti?"
"Just get one if I say so, why all the talk?"
Ronan Rhodes resignedly pursed his lips and asked: "What kind of cat? What breed?"
"Whatever, just a kitten."
"Coincidentally, Vivi’s cat just had kittens a while back, I’ll go ask for one for you." Ronan Rhodes said, couldn’t help but add two remarks, "Master Nate, are you trying to woo a girl or sothing? If you’re inexperienced, you could ask , why get a kitten or puppy?"
Landon Sutton clearly didn’t want to seek advice on this matter, simply hanging up the phone.
The next day, Shannon Quinn continued to go to work on ti, but her mind was sowhat absent the entire day.
According to her period usually arriving a bit early, it should have co within these two days, yet there’s been no sign of it.
When she had dysnorrhea before, she wished she didn’t have such a thing as a period; now she eagerly awaits her next period, just for so peace of mind.
In the evening there was a dinner eting to see an old client.
Though said to be a client, she’s actually a friend in private, besides work, they often chat about everyday life.
The other party was a woman nearing thirty, nad Erin Bishop, a career woman who started a company with her ex-boyfriend several exes ago, and later managed it alone, very capable at work, but sowhat unfortunate in love.
Erin Bishop is quite pretty, in the business circle she is known as a remarkable woman, with many pursuers but still unmarried.
From the interactions, Shannon Quinn felt that although Erin Bishop had a business mind, as a person she was rather straightforward and quite simple.
When Shannon Quinn arrived, Erin Bishop was already sitting alone in the booth drinking, looking like she had been dumped again.
This was the second ti since Shannon Quinn knew her.
"Shannon, you’re finally here." Erin Bishop, seeming clear-headed, probably hadn’t drunk much yet.
"What’s wrong?"
Erin Bishop laughed at herself and said, "I broke up again."
Shannon Quinn was not surprised and asked her: "What happened?"
"I must be blind, sohow beca soone else’s mistress."
"What? Ivan Dixon?" Not long ago, Erin Bishop had co to her wanting to design a wedding dress, planning to get married.
"Don’t ntion that disgusting na, it’s too nauseating! You don’t know, he’s almost forty, lied to saying he just turned thirty, has two kids at ho, never told , if it wasn’t for his wife causing a scene at my company this morning, I wouldn’t even know what kind of scum I got involved with."
Shannon Quinn had t Ivan Dixon, when Erin Bishop first got together with him, she had brought Ivan Dixon out for a al; at that ti, she thought the man seed quite honest, always attentive to Erin Bishop during the al, Erin Bishop seed genuinely wanting to settle down with him, but didn’t expect he was married.
