Susan’s body trembled as the door closed, and after confirming he had left, she touched her head. Her hair, which had once reached her waist, now barely touched her neck.
She reached out and grabbed handfuls of hair from the pillow.
Curling up, she burst into tears.
She didn’t know if she’d done sothing wrong, why she had to endure all this. Was it because she had committed too many wrongs in her past life?
Crying until she didn’t know when she fell asleep, she woke up the next morning with slightly swollen eyes.
When she saw the ssy strands of long hair on the pillow, her heart was already calm.
After cleaning up the loose hair, she got up and looked in the mirror. Her hair was unevenly cut and completely unpresentable.
After changing clothes, she went out to the hair salon, where the hairstylist asked if she had broken up, because she’d cut her hair like this.
Luckily, the hair wasn’t too short and could still be saved. She got a perm into a short style just above her chin. Looking at herself in the mirror, Susan thought this new hairstyle actually looked quite good.
Walking out of the hair salon, she felt much better.
At the company, everyone complinted her new hairstyle, and she accepted the praise with a smile, feeling like life hadn’t cornered her into despair.
A bit after ten in the morning, Simon ca to find her at her company again, using work as an excuse.
Recalling what Simon had said to her the night before, Susan actually felt like avoiding him, but after her assistant ca to notify her, she hesitated for a mont and then went downstairs.
Upon eting, Simon asked the sa question as everyone else: "Why did you cut your hair?"
Susan casually responded: "It’s easier to manage."
He chuckled and said: "It looks pretty cute like this."
"Mr. Rhodes, please get to the point."
"I was a bit presumptuous last night, you..."
Susan smiled and shook her head, interrupting him: "It’s alright, I didn’t take it to heart."
"After you went back last night... nothing happened? Did he co back?"
"This is my private matter, which I can’t really disclose further to Mr. Rhodes."
Simon nodded, then stood up and said: "I just ca to make sure you’re okay. If you face any trouble next ti, you can call ."
Susan didn’t reply, and he didn’t wait for her answer. After leaving a note, he took his leave.
Looking at the note on the table, Susan gazed at it for quite a while before reaching out to pick it up. Upon opening it, the bold and beautiful handwriting read: I’m not afraid of anyone’s opinions. If you’re willing, I can marry you anyti.
She hurriedly crumpled the note in her hand, worried that soone might see it.
As she was ready to toss it into the trash can by her feet, her movent halted, she paused, and then just clenched it tightly in her hand as she quickly walked upstairs.
Back in her office, she unfolded the crumpled note once more. Staring at the words, she reflected seriously.
She knew Simon had the right to do such a thing. If she went ho and told her parents that Simon wanted to marry her, they would probably find ways to make her divorce Shawn quickly.
She didn’t know Simon very well yet, but she understood that being with Simon wouldn’t turn her into a punching bag, nor would she suffer a lot of bla or even physical pain.
She didn’t understand what kind of person Simon truly was behind the scenes, but it was clear that he had a nice temperant and personality.
However, she didn’t have any romantic feelings for him, except for gratitude over the few tis he had helped her.
Considering marrying him at this mont was simply to help herself escape this living hell.
However, a marriage without love might just be jumping from one abyss to another.
Besides personal issues, there’s also their identities standing before them.
When she married Shawn, almost everyone in their circle knew. If she were to turn around and marry Simon, scandals like family incest could imdiately break out.
It wouldn’t be beneficial to anyone.
Susan sighed, clamped the note into a notebook, and tucked it into the drawer.
She decided to endure for now. When Shawn eventually marries Laura, Zane would naturally divorce her, and all this would be over...
Early in the morning, Erin rushed to Shannon Quinn’s house. Landon went to work, Leo went to school, and Shannon was ho alone, eager for soone to chat with her.
Once Erin arrived, she couldn’t even be bothered to drink water before anxiously asking Shannon: "Shannon, how did I get ho last night?"
Shannon confusedly replied: "How would I know? I left before you, don’t you know how you got ho?"
"I drank too much! I blacked out! When I woke up this morning, I found myself sleeping with Zane!"
Shannon burst into laughter at that: "Isn’t that great? You’ve progressed so quickly, were you pretending to be drunk? You’re not that easy to get drunk with your tolerance, are you?"
"You don’t know what kind of liquor I drank; its aftereffects were too strong. I completely don’t rember how I got ho last night. I woke up this morning and saw Zane sleeping next to ."
"The rice was cooked?"
Erin glared at her: "Are your brains full of dirty thoughts because of Young Master Rhodes?!"
"Sooner or later, married couples share a bed, don’t be so surprised."
"You’re full of it! Nothing happened last night, we just slept hugging each other. I was treating him like my big bear at ho, hard and uncomfortable! Not as nice as my bear at ho."
"You’re blacked out; how do you know nothing happened? Zane certainly doesn’t have any impairnts to just hold you all night?"
Erin rarely blushed and stamred: "I...I can feel it myself, absolutely nothing that shouldn’t have happened!"
"You’re embarrassed, you see; one yields to another."
"Shannon!"
"Alright, alright, but if nothing happened, why are you so flustered?"
Erin picked up grapes from the table, eating them as she spoke: "I just feel embarrassed. I slapped him when I woke up this morning... Then he said I insisted he stay last night. Of course, I don’t believe it, so after driving him away, I went to check the surveillance in the living room."
"Then what?"
Erin could hardly stop herself from laughing, although she was unable to completely suppress it, muttering: "I just saw him tonight placing on the couch, preparing to go to the restroom to get water to wash my face, when I tugged on him and rolled off the couch, then crawled on the ground clinging to his leg..."
Shannon pursed her lips, trying not to laugh. Erin was embarrassingly saying: "You know how I felt watching the surveillance? Even though the video had no sound, I could vividly imagine how embarrassing I was then!"
