Maybe the Rhodes Family seniors had instructed him, so Shawn Rhodes returned ho for dinner with Susan Wilde.

They sat across from each other at the dining table, from beginning to end without exchanging a word.

Shawn took a couple of bites before putting down his chopsticks, perhaps in a hurry to go to the hospital to accompany Rowan Alder.

As he was about to leave, Mrs. Morgan asked, "Sir, are you going out this late?"

"There’s sothing at the company."

"The master said to remind you to bring your wife ho for dinner tomorrow night."

Shawn paused while changing shoes, glanced back at Susan with impatience and said, "Got it."

As she watched him leave, closing the door behind him, Susan lowered her eyes and continued eating.

Even though they were both victims of this marriage, in his eyes, she seed to beco the sinner who destroyed his love.

After dinner, she took so ice from the fridge, wrapped it in a bag, and applied it to her throbbing knee in the bedroom.

Just as she was about to rest, she heard a noise outside; Shawn had returned.

She hadn’t expected him to co back so early tonight.

Hearing Mrs. Morgan exchange a few words with him, it seed he went straight upstairs, and there were no other sounds.

Susan turned off the light in the room to sleep, but then heard footsteps gradually approaching outside the door.

Not knowing if they were coming to her room, she turned her back to the door, pretending to be asleep.

The door opened, and she stiffened, a bit scared last night’s incident would repeat.

The room light turned on, footsteps approached the bed, and Shawn’s voice sounded, "Get up."

Susan hesitated for a mont, then opened her eyes and turned to look at him.

"Was it you who complained that I ca back to live here?"

"I’m not that free."

"Don’t fuck with , who else would have arranged for Mrs. Morgan to co over?!"

"Since you don’t believe anyway, there’s no need to ask , think whatever you want."

Shawn sneered, "You think marrying into the Rhodes Family would make you soar? I’ll make you regret it."

Having said that, he turned and walked out of the door, but closed it gently.

Mrs. Morgan saw it all and thought he had just gone to bid Susan goodnight.

However, the fact that they slept in separate rooms stayed in her mind.

The next morning, Susan almost felt like she had traveled through ti.

She saw Shawn making breakfast, and when he saw her co out, he gently asked her to co and eat.

Looking at the decent-looking sandwich in front of her, and then at Shawn, Susan inwardly wondered if it was poisoned.

"Ma’am, this is made by the sir himself, please co and try it."

Mrs. Morgan placed heated milk next to the two breakfasts.

Susan didn’t want to die so soon; she smiled and walked towards the door, saying, "I’m not hungry, you two go ahead, I don’t have the habit of eating breakfast."

"Ma’am, skipping breakfast is bad for your health, the sir got up early to make this, just taste it."

Not knowing what Shawn was plotting, Susan stood by the door, finished putting on her shoes, and smiled at Shawn, "Thank you, honey, but I really don’t want to eat, I’m heading out now, drive safely."

Shawn’s feigned smile instantly froze; whether he genuinely wanted to make her breakfast or not, Susan’s rejection sowhat angered him.

As Susan left, Mrs. Morgan turned to comfort Shawn, "Maybe ma’am truly doesn’t have the habit, she can change gradually in the future."

Shawn said nothing, grabbing his car keys and left with a sullen face.

What pissed him off the most was that shortly after driving out, he saw Susan at a noodle shop not far from ho.

She’d rather eat those dirty things outside than what he made!

That morning, Susan finished a wedding planning job, and in the afternoon had a eting about event planning with Simon Rhodes’ assistant.

Rembering Mrs. Morgan said they were having dinner with the Rhodes Family seniors, Susan checked the ti; it was already past five.

She wondered if she should contact Shawn but then recalled she didn’t have his number.

Thinking if he wasn’t worried, why should she?

"Knock knock—" Her assistant knocked on the office door, saying, "Boss, a gentleman is here to see you downstairs."

"Who?"

"Didn’t say."

Susan curiously stood up, following the assistant downstairs, and was surprised to find Shawn waiting, astonished he had found his way here.

"Go ahead with your work." Susan dismissed the assistant and walked over to Shawn, asking, "What’s up?"

Shawn stood up, checked his watch, and in a rather impatient tone said, "Hurry up, after dinner I need to go to the hospital to see Laura."

Only then did Susan understand he had co to pick her up. It wasn’t surprising; after all, they were going to see his parents. If she had taken a taxi alone, arriving separately, he’d probably be questioned by his parents.

"I’ll go upstairs to get sothing."

"You have two minutes."

Susan wasn’t in a hurry, went upstairs at a leisurely pace, not deliberately wasting ti, but still took over five minutes; when she ca down, didn’t he have to obediently sit in the car and wait?

She consciously chose the back seat; once the car started, neither of them spoke.

During the drive, Rowan Alder called him; since he was driving, he answered using the hands-free mode, not worried about Susan overhearing his flirtation with Rowan.

Rowan was good at acting coy, and he seed to enjoy it; his gentle deanor on the phone was like a different person than the one Susan knew.

Once the call ended, the car fell silent again, and Susan curiously asked, "How could you let her be the other woman if you love her so much?"

"The other woman?" He seed displeased with the term, "I’ve been with her for over ten years; if there’s another woman, it’s you!"

Susan chuckled, looking out the car window, and said, "Oh, I really pity her, loving a man who doesn’t even have the guts to marry her. n like that are the lowest in my book."

"Don’t fucking speak!"

It seed she had hit a sore spot, visibly infuriating him.

But to keep up appearances for his parents, Shawn even ca around to open the door for her when they arrived, walking arm in arm into the house.

Susan, not wanting to stir any unnecessary trouble, cooperated with him in the act.

Mrs. Rhodes, as always, was warm towards her, and seeing the two walk in so closely, her smile was uncontrollable.

Upon entering the house, Susan realized it wasn’t just a simple family dinner, as Simon Rhodes was there, and Wayne Wilde and Lily Lee had also co.

Simon had been there for a while, chatting with Shawn’s father in the living room.

Susan thought it might have been because Simon was here that they asked her and Shawn to co ho for dinner. After all, Shawn’s work often needed Simon’s support, and a chance to strengthen ties shouldn’t be missed.
