So she had already broken up...

For the first ti, Simon Rhodes’s mind was in such turmoil, the feeling was as if he had personally handed her over to soone else.

Night fell, and the wedding ended successfully.

Susan Wilde was taken to the bridal chamber she shared with Shawn Rhodes, the room was decorated brightly and beautifully, yet felt very desolate.

She ca back alone, hadn’t seen that husband of hers since the ceremony concluded.

Susan Wilde didn’t know what kind of person Shawn Rhodes was, but after a day together, she felt his mother wasn’t too bad.

She cared for her ticulously, even more than her own family.

Susan Wilde stood in the living room for a long ti, as chaotic thoughts mixed together, her gaze was still clear, such calmness seed more like a resignation, a compromise to fate.

Mrs. Rhodes ca over after seeing off the guests, carefully introducing the ho environnt to Susan Wilde: "This side is the master bedroom, you will live here from now on, your things will be brought over shortly."

"Thank you..."

"No need for such courtesy with mom, this room was renovated a few years ago, if you don’t like the style, I’ll have soone redesign it another day."

"No worries, it’s quite fine this way."

Mrs. Rhodes pressed her lips together, hesitated to speak, then sighed and said: "It’s clear you’re a good girl, I quite like you."

Susan Wilde just smiled, saying no more.

Mrs. Rhodes paused then said: "Little Shawn has so things at the company, he’ll probably be back late tonight, you should rest first."

Susan Wilde nodded, not exposing anything.

On the wedding night, what work matters can’t be put aside, Mrs. Rhodes was concealing, but it was just about the woman Shawn was in love with.

It’s better she doesn’t co, otherwise Susan wouldn’t know how to deal with it.

"Lately lots of things are happening with the company, bear with it a bit more, I’ll also talk to Shawn, see if he can co back here at night to stay."

Susan Wilde actually hoped he wouldn’t co back, that way no one would be uncomfortable.

For three days straight, Susan Wilde didn’t see any sign of Shawn Rhodes, sotis she would even forget she was already married.

She focused her work on the branch office here, going to and from work on ti each day, feeling like she just changed her place of living.

Everything was calm, life was better than she imagined.

Until the fourth night after the wedding, Susan Wilde ca back ho and locked herself in the bedroom just like the previous days.

It was already midnight when she finished dealing with work matters, took a shower, and went to sleep.

The exhaustion of mind and body made her sleep quite deeply.

Around two AM, soone ca into the house but she didn’t hear.

Shawn Rhodes threw his coat and car keys on the sofa, took a can of beer from the fridge and drank it all down in one go standing in front of the fridge, then tossed the bottle into the trash bin.

He stood in the kitchen and observed, it was obvious it had been used, seed like the woman had a habit of cooking at ho.

He walked out of the kitchen directly upstairs, completely disregarding that it was already late night and might disturb Susan Wilde’s rest, twisted open the bedroom door pushing it wide, the door slamd into the wall with a loud noise, the light on the ceiling clicked on.

Before Susan Wilde could check the situation, the glaring light made her unable to open her eyes.

Shawn Rhodes walked up, grabbed her arm and forcefully pulled her off the bed, the completely bewildered Susan Wilde fell directly to the floor, her knees hitting hard against the solid floor.

As the pain struck, she heard a man’s voice saying: "Get out!"

Susan Wilde frowned, only after adjusting to the light did she see clearly who it was.

But she couldn’t understand what she had done to make him so angry.

Before she could get up from the floor, Shawn Rhodes stepped over her long-legged, opened the wardrobe door and threw all her clothes hanging in it onto the ground: "Go live downstairs."

Susan Wilde stood up and said: "I’ll pack myself, no need for you to do it."

Shawn Rhodes stopped his movents, seemingly not expecting her to react this way.

Susan Wilde bent down to pick up the clothes from the floor, cramd them into her suitcase she ca with, along with so things on the table into a basket, then carried these items alone downstairs.

It was clear she was struggling a bit, but Shawn Rhodes didn’t step forward to help.

She was probably just over five feet three inches, not considered short among girls, but standing in front of him she was much shorter, very thin, what impressed him most was likely her head of black curls, slender and soft.

Before she could reach downstairs, Shawn Rhodes closed the bedroom door, as if disgusted, changed the sheets and pillows she’d slept on.

The first floor had two guest rooms, the layouts quite similar, Susan Wilde chose the innermost one.

Fortunately, the guest rooms were also tidied, no need for her to clean, she didn’t get around to organizing her stuff, walked into the room and sat on the bed, lifting her skirt to rub her aching knee, the pain sowhat relieved.

The guest room was adjacent to the garden behind, opening the balcony door revealed a rose bush.

Susan Wilde thought it beautiful but realized it was sowhat unsafe.

The balcony railing was very low, with no security asures, if soone really wanted to break in, crossing the rose bush would easily allow climbing onto the balcony.

But such an upscale villa area, security should be handled well.

Unsure whether her worry was excessive, Susan Wilde still locked the glass door separating the balcony when she returned to the room, feeling a bit more secure.

She quickly arranged the clothes into the closet, overwheld with fatigue she lay on the bed again, but couldn’t sleep for a long ti.

She didn’t know if her insomnia was due to the pain in her knee or sothing else.

Early in the next morning, she left ho deliberately avoiding any encounter with Shawn Rhodes.

She had breakfast near the store before leisurely arriving at the shop.

There weren’t many custors in the morning, the staff were quite free, seeing her arrive, the store manager approached and said: "Boss, last night a client ca by, asking if we accept proposals for corporate events."

Susan Wilde paused, asking: "Did they say what kind of event?"

"No, the client ca right before closing, judging by the business card he gave, he’s a big figure, he said if we accept, this is the card he left."

Susan Wilde took the card and felt it sowhat familiar, seeing the na on it, she recalled she once received an identical one.

And only then rembered she still had a connection with Simon Rhodes before.

The store manager was puzzled and said: "I don’t know if it’s the sa na as Simon Rhodes from Sterling Group, both Lynn and I think the person who ca last night didn’t look like Simon Rhodes from the newspapers."

Susan Wilde took the card and said: "I’ll contact him."

Simon Rhodes finding his way here was a coincidence, in business, there is naturally no reason to refuse a custor, once in her office Susan Wilde dialed the number on the card.
