Shannon Quinn struggled, tightly clamping her mouth shut, and kicked June Yardley in the body without much force, but it caused June to stagger a bit.
"You bitch! How dare you kick ?"
"Miss, are you okay? Can you tell us what’s happening? We can help resolve this for you."
June Yardley shoved away the staff mber helping her and yelled, "Get lost! None of your business! Don’t you dare ddle!"
Seeing June Yardley fiercely approaching again, Shannon Quinn panicked and quickly bit down hard on the arm holding her.
The man grunted in pain, lifting his hand to push Shannon Quinn away.
The other man also released her, but not before landing a heavy slap on Shannon Quinn’s face, a forceful blow that knocked her to the ground, leaving her ears ringing and vision blurred. Still, she maintained a protective hand over her belly, trying to get up from the floor.
People who feared trouble kept their distance, so even hurriedly settled their bills and left the store, while others fild with their phones but no one stepped forward to help.
Through her blurry vision, she saw June Yardley walking towards her, raising her foot aid at Shannon Quinn’s stomach...
Shannon Quinn tried hard to dodge but found it difficult, and as she thought that kick was about to hit her, ti seed to stretch... one second, two seconds, three seconds...
The anticipated pain didn’t arrive, and she faintly heard Ronan Rhodes’s voice near her ear, then everything went black, and her consciousness faded...
When she awoke again, it was in a hospital bed.
"Awake?"
Looking at Silas Kerr who was changing her IV at the bedside, Shannon Quinn stared at the ceiling, recalling what happened, and quickly asked Silas, "What about my child?"
Silas glanced over the examination report in his hand and said, "The child is fine, but you’ll need to stay in the hospital for a while to nurture the pregnancy, or else there might be trouble."
"Sis..." unfinished, Ronan Rhodes caught himself and corrected, "Miss Quinn, you’re awake?"
Upon seeing Ronan Rhodes co into the ward after a phone call, Silas nodded at him, saying, "The situation is stable for now, but if you feel uncomfortable anywhere, call ."
After Silas left, Shannon Quinn looked at Ronan Rhodes.
Initially puzzled by Ronan’s appearance, she suddenly realized that Ronan was Landon Sutton’s confidant, and now that she knew Vincent Rhodes and Landon Sutton were the sa person, it was no surprise that Sutton’s people would be around her.
"Where’s your boss?" Shannon Quinn directly asked Ronan.
Ronan was taken aback for a mont and hurriedly explained, "What boss? I just happened to be passing by and intervened when I saw the injustice, didn’t expect it to be Miss Quinn."
Shannon looked at Ronan with a smile, not exposing his lie: "Thank you, Mr. Thorne."
"You’re welco, sis!"
"Sis?"
Ronan imdiately smacked his own mouth, "Look at my mouth! Apologies, Mrs. Rhodes, didn’t an any offense. It’s just that my boss is so infatuated with you, you’re the only woman he’s ever pursued, it just sort of slipped out..."
Shannon Quinn stared at Ronan for a few monts, guessing he might not yet know the secret between Vincent Rhodes and Landon Sutton.
She wasn’t certain what this secret ant, but after Simon Rhodes told her about it, knowing it felt like holding Vincent’s life in her hands, which was enough to show the importance of the matter, so she didn’t reveal anything casually.
"Anyway, thank you for saving , Mr. Thorne."
Ronan grinned, saying, "Miss Quinn, if anything happened to you, Master Nate wouldn’t let off the hook, so I guess I saved myself too."
If it had been earlier, Shannon might have found it strange that Landon Sutton cared so much about her, but now she understood why.
"Miss Quinn, are you hungry? Do you want sothing to eat?"
Shannon shook her head, pondering for a few seconds, and asked, "What about Miss Yardley?"
"She’s probably still at the police station being questioned. I also inford the Rhodes Family, they must be on their way. Such a big deal, the Rhodes Family won’t let June Yardley off easily, she’s practically ruined herself."
Shannon Quinn looked down, feeling little sympathy for June Yardley, still shaken by the events at the café.
If Landon Sutton hadn’t had soone following her all the ti, not only would the child in her belly be gone, but her life might have been endangered too.
"Hey, Boss Rhodes, we were just talking about you! You’re finally here!"
Simon Rhodes seed to have rushed in from afar, looking sowhat travel-worn, anxiously approaching Shannon Quinn’s bed: "Shannon, what happened?"
Shannon glanced at Ronan Rhodes and politely said, "Thank you, Mr. Thorne, you may go about your business now."
Understanding Shannon’s intention to speak privately, Ronan nodded wisely, exchanged a few pleasantries, and left the ward.
After Ronan left, Shannon asked Simon Rhodes, "Brother, still no news from Vincent?"
Simon was silent for a mont, contemplating, then shook his head, "Not at the mont."
Given Shannon’s current condition, telling her about Vincent’s situation would only add to her worries.
"What happened?"
"June Yardley." Shannon didn’t hide it, "Probably about what happened last ti, after the Yardley Family fell, she acted recklessly, wanting revenge on ."
Simon couldn’t believe June Yardley would cause trouble again, "I will handle this, for now, stay in the hospital and focus on your pregnancy."
"So is he avoiding the issue? Waiting until after the child is born to give an answer? Or taking the child and then divorcing ?"
"Shannon, don’t think about Vincent like that, he cares about you more than anyone, afraid of losing you. It’s just that the current situation makes it impossible to reach him."
Shannon lowered her eyes, sighing softly, turning to look out the window.
"Don’t let your mind wander, Vincent will respond as soon as he gets the ssage."
"Okay, thanks, brother. There’s nothing much here, you can go ahead with your business."
"I’ll check with Silas, and have a nurse co to look after you."
Shannon remained silent as Simon, after hesitating to say more, turned and left the ward.
