Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket Chapter 142: Chapter 142: Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket After that, Lu Youxi took care of the remaining procedures with the real estate agent and the landlord, and then headed off to several decoration companies.

Lu Youxi, while attending classes, kept an eye on the stock market, and also had to visit various decoration companies, which kept her extrely busy.

With the holiday season approaching, after she had surveyed a few decoration companies and finally settled on one, she waited until after the National Day celebrations to start the renovation work formally.

The place didn’t really need a major overhaul, just a fresh coat of paint on the walls and batch-produced computer desks from the decoration company.

The overall design followed a modern “insta-famous” style of the future.

For the present, this style was quite progressive and unique.

Human aesthetics indeed share certain commonalities; the insta-style that stood out among the diverse styles in the future would shine just as brightly now, giving people a refreshing and eye-catching effect.

In the small rooms, apart from replacing computer desks, the beds and bathrooms just needed a thorough cleaning, and new tiles in the bathrooms.

In truth, the renovation hadn’t cost too much money.

The more significant expense ca with the purchase of the computers.

High-end online gas required good specs, but Lu Youxi didn’t plan to buy complete sets of computers.

Instead, she visited computer malls, asking for the costs of assembling machines with the appropriate specs.

Assembling computers is naturally cheaper than brand-na finished products.

After comparing prices, Lu Youxi had a rough idea.

She returned to the dormitory and asked Lu Xiaohui and the others, “Do you know any students majoring in computer-related fields? They don’t need to know anything too advanced, just how to assemble a computer. They should tell what kind of monitor, main unit, and other components I should buy according to my requirents, and then I’ll buy them. I’ll let him do the assembly. I certainly won’t have him help for nothing; I’ll pay for his assembly service.”

“I just happen to know soone,” Xia Jinqiao said imdiately, “He’s from the School of Information Science and Technology, and we’re in the sa club. He’s a guy who’s really into computers and knows them like the back of his hand. Many people in our club got him to assemble their computers.”

“That’s perfect,” Lu Youxi responded, “I need a big batch, and if he really can help, tell him that I can’t let him work for free; I’ll pay him for the assembly. But I need to see if his quote is reasonable first. I have consulted several vendors in the computer mall. Since everyone aims to make a profit, I’d prefer to have our classmate earn the money. Plus, a quote from our classmate should be cheaper than one from a vendor, right?”

“For sure, those shop owners definitely quote higher prices; it’s not the sa as helping privately,” Xia Jinqiao said, “How many do you need, though?”

“Seventy units,” Lu Youxi replied. As soon as she said this, a huge gasp ca from Xia Jinqiao and the other two in the room.

“You need that many!” Lu Xiaohui exclaid in shock, “That’s so much money!”

Lu Youxi didn’t actually have that much money on hand at the mont.

But she had calculated that, by the ti the renovations were completed, the money she could withdraw from the stock market would be more than enough to cover seventy computers.

At the sa ti, she also needed to apply for a business license.

All these would take ti, enough for her to earn the necessary funds.

“Why do you need so many computers?” Mo Yuchun asked in shock.

“I want to open an internet café,” Lu Youxi said honestly. Since she was asking for help, it was only right to tell the truth.

Asking for help while deceiving others was not the way she liked to do things.

“Why are you thinking of opening an internet café?” Lu Xiaohui asked curiously, “Aren’t you making a lot of money in the stock market?”

“But the stock market has risks; you need to be cautious when entering the market. I can’t put all my eggs in one basket. I need to spread the risk,” Lu Youxi explained, “It’s just right to use the money I’ve earned from the stock market to open an internet café. I was planning on bringing my parents and brother over anyway. Once my parents are here, they won’t need to find jobs elsewhere. It’s complicated in a big city; I’m worried they won’t be used to the work culture here, being accustod to life in Hexing Village. If we have an internet café, my parents can manage it.”

“That makes sense,” Lu Xiaohui said, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Lu Youxi, “Your parents really hit the jackpot having a daughter like you. I wish I could have a daughter as capable as you in the future. I’d be content to be the mother of a wealthy second generation.”

Lu Youxi: “…”

“Then you have to try hard!” Lu Youxi said with a mix of laughter and tears.

“I’ll talk to him now. But I think it’s best if you two discuss it face to face,” Xia Jinqiao said, “I’m not familiar with computer parts and prices, and you’ve already inquired about them, right? When the two of you talk and if you think his prices are reasonable, then let him do the assembly for you.”

“Okay,” Lu Youxi agreed, and Xia Jinqiao contacted the guy.

“Ji Deyi, this is Xia Jinqiao,” the guy picked up the phone, and Xia Jinqiao said.

Hearing the guy’s na on this side, Lu Youxi and the other two barely managed to suppress their laughter.

Lu Xiaohui whispered, “That na sounds both auspicious and fortunate.”

Mo Yuchun quickly pressed her index finger to her lips with a “shush,” not wanting anyone on the other end to hear.

Xia Jinqiao briefly explained Lu Youxi’s situation to the guy.

The guy was thrilled to hear that there was money to be made.

Seventy computers were a big deal.

“Yeah! Of course, I’ll do it!” Ji Deyi eagerly agreed, “Xia Jinqiao, you’re amazing. Thanks for thinking of for such a great opportunity.”

“But let be clear, Lu Youxi has already compared prices, so quote honestly. She won’t short-change you for the assembly fee,” Xia Jinqiao warned Ji Deyi in advance, “But if your prices are too high, Lu Youxi will certainly look elsewhere.”

“Don’t worry, we’re classmates, and I’m not doing this for a living; I’m just happy to earn the assembly fee. As for the monitors and main units, I’ll recomnd a few and let Lu Youxi choose. She can buy them herself; I definitely can’t be taking a cut,” Ji Deyi explained.

“Alright, let’s set up a ti,” Xia Jinqiao said with the speakerphone on so Lu Youxi could hear.

“How about this afternoon? What ti do your afternoon classes end? I’m finished with all my classes by three,” Ji Deyi said, “What about you?”

It was clear that Ji Deyi was eager to take this money-making opportunity.

Xia Jinqiao turned silently to ask Lu Youxi, and seeing her nod, she replied, “We’re done at three as well. After class, let’s et in the school café? Whoever gets there first waits a bit; we’ll head over as soon as class is over.”

Ji Deyi agreed.

After lunch break, Lu Youxi went to class with her roommates.

She was incredibly busy lately.

Upon entering the classroom, she saw her classmates in high spirits. When they saw her, they greeted her especially enthusiastically.
