(Third Person POV)

After the siblings made love, they fell asleep in each other’s arms. It was the most peaceful, blissful sleep Sharon had ever experienced.

But in the middle of the night, she quietly slipped out of bed, sneaking back to her own room to avoid her mother discovering she’d spent the night in Asher’s.

Morning ca far too quickly.

Sunlight pierced through her curtains like a personal attack, and Sharon groaned, burying her face in the pillow. Her hair was a chaotic ss, her limbs tangled in the sheets, and her entire body ached—in both the best and worst ways. All she wanted was five more minutes of sleep.

Then, her bedroom door creaked open.

"Sharon," her mother’s voice rang out, sickeningly sweet in that terrifying way only mothers had perfected. "You’re going to be late for school."

Sharon shot upright, blinking like a startled deer. "What?? Crap—I must’ve... I an... I stayed up late. Training. Studying. With Asher!"

Lenna leaned against the doorway, arms folded. "Mmm. I’m sure you covered all the essential topics."

"We did!" Sharon said a bit too fast. "There was reading. Notes. So, uh, revision on... basic incantations."

"Huh." Lenna nodded slowly. "Must’ve been a very hands-on study session. I thought I heard soone knocking around their desk last night."

She shrugged casually. "Maybe I was dreaming."

Sharon’s soul nearly exited her body. "I—I was just restless, I guess. Dropped so spell books?"

Lenna smiled, a little too knowingly. "Of course. Books can be so loud when they fall. Especially over and over. For an hour straight."

Sharon swallowed hard.

Lenna turned to leave. "Anyway, I made breakfast. You’ll need the energy... after all that late-night reading."

"Right," Sharon muttered, sliding out of bed with a wince. "Definitely. So much reading."

As her mother walked away, Sharon climbed out of bed, still wearing the silky shorts and pajamas from the night before. She touched the fabric, a smile creeping across her face as mories of her brother sliding them off her body flooded her mind—leaving her completely naked before him.

She shook her head, banishing the thoughts, then hurried to the bathroom for a quick shower, washing off the sex juices of last night. Once done, she returned to her room, applied lotion, and changed into her academy uniform. A quick glance in the mirror showed a sweet smile stretched across her face—and she couldn’t stop giggling.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped out of her room and headed to the kitchen, where her mother was serving breakfast and Asher was already seated, ready to eat.

Sharon sat down beside him, stealing shy glances his way. Asher couldn’t quite et her eyes either, not after what had happened between them.

Lenna noticed their behavior but said nothing—just smiled to herself. They greeted her politely, then ate in silence. Minutes later, they were done and headed out together to the academy.

On the way, Asher broke the silence.

"You... good?" he asked.

Sharon nodded. "Yup! I’m fine, why ask?"

Asher shrugged. "Well... you know. Sotis girls have trouble walking or doing normal stuff the morning after they lose their v-cards."

Sharon folded her arms and gave him a sharp look. "Do I look like so girls to you?"

"No, I just—"

"Do I look weak to you?" she pressed, leaning closer.

Asher sighed. "Whatever! I was just worried about you. But if you’re this annoying, I guess you’re fine."

She scoffed. "I’m annoying? The nerve!"

"You’re the most annoying person I know in this world," Asher teased.

Sharon punched his shoulder playfully. "Take that back!"

"Nope!" he laughed, starting to run as she chased after him, shouting.

He suddenly stopped and scooped her into his arms. "See? Still annoying." He looked into her eyes. "But... you’re also the sweetest person I know."

Sharon’s cheeks turned pink. She looked away, then punched him again. "What are you talking about!? Put down, you idiot!"

"You’re not even heavy! Are you sure you eat enough?" Asher teased.

Steam practically ca out of her ears. "I’ll kill you! Put down now!!!"

"Well, well, well..." a mocking voice cut through their mont.

They turned. Sharon’s expression darkened imdiately.

"If it isn’t Mrs. Flatboard and her scrawny brother," sneered Brittany—Sharon’s enemy and academy bully—flanked by her two ever-present minions. "I see you commoners love to play on your way to school."

"Leave us alone, bitch," Sharon snapped.

Asher set Sharon down gently, eyes narrowing. "Who are they, sis?"

"Nobody worth knowing," Sharon muttered. "Let’s go."

She grabbed his hand, trying to walk past, but Brittany stepped in and shoved her back. Asher imdiately stood between them.

"What’s your problem? Who are you?" he asked, glaring.

Brittany folded her arms with a scoff. "Didn’t your mother teach you manners? You’re supposed to bow before your betters. No wonder you’re a family of rejects. Should’ve stayed in your father’s balls."

Asher’s eye twitched. The insult wasn’t new to him—he’d heard worse. Part of him wanted to hit her right there in that ugly excuse for a face, buried under layers of facepowder like a corpse dressed for an open casket. He could almost hear it flake when she moved, like brittle paint on bone. But he decided not to hit her. His family didn’t need more trouble.

He sighed. "Move aside, brats. We’re passing."

"Brat? Do you even know who I am!?" Brittany screeched.

"You could be a queen for all I care—won’t change the fact that under all that makeup, you’re still plain ugly. Inside and out, no matter how much you try to hide it."

Gasps echoed all around. Even nearby vendors stopped what they were doing. Brittany’s face twisted with rage.

"You...!!!" She pointed at Asher. "You’ll pay for that!" She stord off, her minions trailing behind and muttering threats.

"Bunch of maggots," Asher muttered. Then turned to Sharon. "So... who are they?"

Sharon stood frozen. Asher had just insulted one of the most powerful nobles in her class. She knew Brittany’s threats weren’t empty.

"You shouldn’t have said that!" she said as they resud walking.

"You an the ’ugly’ part? Isn’t that obvious?"

"She is ugly," Sharon admitted, "but you still shouldn’t have said it. Now there’s no telling what she’ll do."

Asher ruffled her hair. "Co on, sis. Don’t act like you don’t know . I’m not scared of those puny brats. They’re nothing."

Sharon sighed. "Just... be careful, okay?"

"Is that you being worried about ? That’s new," he teased.

"Forget it, idiot! Even if they hire goons to beat you to death, I wouldn’t care!"

"Really? You wouldn’t cry?"

"Never!"

"Not even feel sad?"

"Not in the slightest!"

"Right..." he grinned.

They finally arrived at the academy gates. Waiting for them was Anna. The mont she saw them, she ran toward Asher with open arms. He caught her in a hug.

"Ash! I’ve been waiting for two hours! Why are you late!?" she said, still clinging to him.

"Ugh... I overslept," Asher replied, rubbing her back.

Sharon growled under her breath and walked off, leaving the two betrothed in their tight embrace.
