(Asher’s POV)
"Four Eyes!!" I shouted the mont I appeared in the living room of my house in my realm. Adrian had just arrived, too.
"Asherman!!" he exclaid back, coming over to shake my hand.
"Where’ve you been, dude?" I asked.
"Just... at ho," he replied, avoiding my gaze.
I patted his shoulder. "It’s about Tama, isn’t it?"
He gasped, eyes widening—then quickly frowned. "What? No. Why would you think that?"
I chuckled. "You like her, don’t you?"
His frown deepened. "No, I don’t!" he said firmly.
"If you do, just tell . It’s not like she’s my girlfriend or anything."
His eyes lit up. "Really? She’s not your girlfriend?"
I smirked. "See! You do like her. That concern in your eyes gave you away."
He scowled. "Jeez. Stop saying that! What happened to ’bros before hoes’?"
I pulled him into a bro hug, patting his back. "Yeah... bros before hoes. Don’t let down, man. You’re the only dude who’s got my back now."
He smiled. "Yeah. Sorry for ghosting. Oh—Shazzy ntioned sothing about your friend being sick or sothing."
"My friend?" I raised a brow.
"Yeah! That girl, Anna."
"Shit! Open the door! I’ve gotta check on her!"
I didn’t have ti to check on the others, or even if that dark elf girl made it here in one piece—the house was empty! Maybe they were all out in the forest enjoying the view or so crap.
Adrian quickly opened the Dinsional Door, and we stepped through, appearing in an alleyway in Eldoria’s market district.
"Thanks, man," I said, shaking his hand. "If you don’t mind, head back to my realm and tell the girls I’ll be back soon. Let know if anything cos up—I’ve got to check on Anna!"
Adrian groaned. "Ugh... thinking about dealing with those demons makes the hair on my neck stand. But... I’ll go anyway."
"Appreciate it, bro!"
I chanted my flight spell and shot into the sky, heading straight for Ivy’s place. People all around the kingdom looked up in surprise, gasping. No surprise there—seeing a human fly wasn’t exactly normal.
Within minutes, I landed at Ivy’s. The place was locked.
No one was ho.
"Damn it." I took off again, heading back to my family’s house. Maybe they’d know where everyone went.
But the house was still empty.
I groaned in frustration—where the hell could they be?
Then suddenly, a voice echoed in my mind.
"Master... is that you?"
I recognized it instantly. Rex—the hound Rose gave in the demon realm.
"Rex? Yeah, it’s ."
He appeared behind out of nowhere, nearly scaring the life out of .
"What the—?!" I stumbled. "Where the hell did you co from?!"
"I teleported into your shadow from your mother’s. I sensed you the mont you ca into my sensing range. All along, l wasn’t able to." His voice echoed in my head.
"You can shadow teleport?"
"Only between you and your family I swore to protect. The others... they’re at the church, checking on that human girl—Anna."
"The church? Alright, I’m going there now."
But before I could take off, Rex stopped .
"Wait... you need to hear this, Master."
I turned to him.
"There’s sothing... off about that girl. I can’t say for sure what, but I suggest taking her to the queen. She might know what’s going on."
"You an Rose?"
"Yes, Master."
"Alright. Thanks for the heads-up, Rex."
As I prepared to fly, Rex vanished again—probably back into Mom’s shadow.
I flew through the clouds at top speed until I reached the Divine Church. I landed in front of the doors, startling the holy knights stationed there.
"You can fly?!" one of them blurted out.
"Yeah. I’m here to see the Priestess!" I said firmly.
"Do you have an appointnt with her today?" the other asked.
"No, but it’s urgent."
"I’m afraid the Priestess is busy. Co back tomorrow."
Were they serious right now?
"Sorry, girls. I’m in a hurry!"
I used a burst of wind to push past them, ignoring their protests as I headed straight inside.
A few people were praying with garnts over their heads. I respectfully passed them and headed to Seraphina’s room, knocking—only to hear her voice from the next room.
"Who is it?"
"It’s . Asher."
The door swung open—and I got slapped.
Hard.
"Ouch!" I winced, grabbing my cheek. I looked down.
It was Sharon.
She imdiately pulled into a hug. "Where were you, idiot!" she huffed, hugging tight.
I smiled, patting her back. "Had so things to handle. I’m back now."
Inside, Anna lay on the bed. Ivy and my mom were seated on stools beside her, and Seraphina had her hand over Anna’s forehead.
"Good afternoon, everyone," I greeted, bowing slightly.
"Where have you been?" Mom’s voice was sharp.
"I... uh... in a dungeon," I lied through my teeth.
She hissed and looked away, clearly pissed. But what could I do? I wasn’t so stay-at-ho guy. I had a mission—to fix this unfair world. To fight for n who are trapped in a system where rank decides love, marriage, and worth. That ant I wouldn’t always be around.
"Asher... thanks for coming," Ivy said, her voice emotional.
I gave her a small smile. "Sorry I’m late."
I walked over to Anna’s bed.
"How is she, Priestess?"
Seraphina sighed. "Honestly? It’s complicated. One mont she’s better, the next she crashes again. My prayers help, but only temporarily. The mont I stop, her condition worsens."
I reached out and held Anna’s hand. It was ice cold.
"I’ll take care of this," I said, voice steady.
Everyone looked at .
"What can you do, Asher... if the Priestess’s prayers aren’t enough?" Mom asked.
"Just trust , Mom." I turned to Ivy. "Mrs. Rambrandt... do I have your permission?"
She hesitated, then nodded. "Yes. Do everything you can."
"Thank you."
I summoned my Dinsional Door, and everyone stared in surprise. As I lifted Anna into my arms, my little sister—who clearly knew where that door led—dove in without a second thought.
I groaned and stepped through after her, closing the door behind us.
