Hiding away here was only a temporary asure to avoid disaster.
But they couldn’t stay hidden forever.
So, they still needed to get a grasp of the situation outside.
Especially since there had been no word from their senior sister. Their master and his wife were both deeply concerned.
It was just too dangerous outside right now, so they didn’t dare to act rashly.
Once they confird it was calm and safe outside... they would set out for the Prefecture City.
They needed to see what the situation there was really like.
...True Martial County seed utterly destroyed. There was no telling how long it would take to recover... or if it even could.
If his senior brother hadn’t suggested it, their master likely would have soon enough.
Qin Fang imdiately volunteered to go with his senior brother.
Their master nodded in agreent.
After breakfast that day, the two martial brothers set off, heading toward True Martial County Town.
As they started up the mountain path, they noticed sothing was wrong... The trail was overgrown with thorns and other plants. The once-clear path had beco nearly invisible in just twenty-odd days.
...It was clear that almost no one had traveled this way during that ti.
This weighed on their spirits for reasons they couldn’t quite na.
As they passed the small mountain village they had last seen in ruins, the two of them glanced over... They could no longer see the tragic state of the village. Weeds had grown so thick they almost completely obscured its paths. The bodies lying within were no longer clearly visible; they could only make out the faint silhouette of a Deserted Village.
Both of them fell silent, then picked up their pace and continued on.
Both were Anjin Martial Artists, and they moved with incredible speed. Several hours later, they had reached True Martial County Town.
But when they got a proper look, his senior brother began to tremble all over...
Vast fields of corpses lay exposed in the wilderness outside the city. Flocks of crows gathered, the air was thick with the drone of flies, and the stench was so overpowering that it made them want to retch, even from the mountain path!
The bodies had all t grueso ends. They were desiccated and putrid, so already partially reduced to bone. Their faces were twisted in agony, eyeballs rotting away, many having already fallen from their sockets.
Nearly all of their chests had been ripped open, but the details were lost to decay.
Wild grass had even begun to sprout from so of the bodies...
Swarms of bodies lay strewn across the ground, unburied, simply left exposed to the elents.
Looking toward True Martial City, they saw the gates gaped open. The bodies of countless True Martial Guards were scattered at the entrance and upon the Haiman.
Broken bows and arrows, scattered swords and spears...
His senior brother’s breathing grew ragged. He clenched his fists so tightly his body shook.
...As far as the eye could see, there was only devastation—a desolate and tragic wasteland.
Even Qin Fang, who had witnessed the mass death of refugees, felt his heart sink at the sight... These people had clearly been dead for a long ti. Their flesh was rotten and skeletal, and the thick stench of death was so overpowering it made his eyes water. The dead refugees he had seen were mostly fresh corpses, as their groups never stayed in one place for long.
The impact of this scene was on an entirely different level.
THUD... THUD...
A sudden series of heavy thuds echoed from the distance. Qin Fang and his senior brother instinctively turned to look in the direction of the sound.
Then, their pupils constricted as they stared, wide-eyed, into the distance...
A behemoth had appeared in the city.
It was a monster, and from their vantage point, they estimated it was at least six ters tall!
It towered over most of the city’s buildings!
It bounded through the city, each landing like a small mountain crashing to the earth, sending out a dull roar...
Qin Fang and Zhou Xing both gasped, and the sudden intake of the stench-filled air nearly made them vomit...
’The monster is still here!’
’And it’s gotten this huge?!’
Qin Fang was stunned.
He knew that the monster, when it was just over a ter tall, already had a terrifyingly strong Physique and Life Force, equivalent to a human Anjin Martial Artist.
So this fleshy-tumor monster, now over six ters tall... just how terrifying would it be?!
Watching it casually crush a house before bounding away again made both of their scalps tingle with fear!
...Although they were too far away to see it perfectly, they could still make out one thing... The fleshy tumor was now covered in a thick coat of red fur. The disgusting, vein-like structures that had originally covered it were now obscured.
But they knew one thing for certain: if it had grown fur, it must have skin underneath. Otherwise... where would the fur grow from?
’And if it has skin...’
Qin Fang’s pupils constricted.
’Even without skin, the monster’s defense and Life Force were already absurdly high.’
’Now that it has a hide, how could anyone possibly fight it?!’
’My Hidden Weapons probably wouldn’t even be able to break its defense!’
’Even if they did, they’d just get stuck in its hide!’
’And with a body that huge... would the Giant Bee poison even have any effect?’
...Without a doubt, this was a creature that far surpassed any human Huajin master!
’It’s a monster of the Divine Domain!!’
Qin Fang’s heart pounded like a drum as he looked down at the ruined city.
’Thank god... Thank god we ran when we did.’
’Otherwise, if we had waited until this monster appeared at the gates to try and escape... I’m afraid...’
But before the shock could fully subside, another series of thunderous crashes rang out, and the two of them instinctively shifted their gaze...
Then, an even more profound shock washed over their faces.
Because a second monster had appeared in the city.
This one was even larger, clearly seven, maybe even eight ters tall!
And then a third, and a fourth...
They watched as monster after monster appeared within the city walls.
The largest was over eight ters tall!
