They shouted in the form of questions, probably could not believe what their eyes saw. How was their lady along with these people? If they rember correctly, she was with Mister Rossbert and her guards when she left the town.
Zennie approached them and gestured to calm down. The two guards, upon learning that it was indeed their young lady, breathed a sigh of relief and loosened their tension.
Cough! Cough!
"I am very sorry, Lady Zennie!"
The guard was repeatedly bowing his head when he suddenly coughed.
"Don’t mind it. Here take this!" Zennie gave them one bottle each.
The two guards looked at each other before taking them. Once they stared at the bottle in their hands, "This is..."
"It’s an elixir which I bought from this humble young lady with !"
They said thanks to Sol before chugging the elixir in one go. Right after drinking the elixir, their countenance imdiately looked better than a while ago.
Not only the guards but even Zennie looked surprised at the effectiveness of the elixir. It took effect right after drinking it. Unbelievable! That only ans the potency of these elixirs was higher than that of ordinary ones.
The guards, once again, said thanks to Zennie and the pretty rchant.
Zennie was also very thankful to Sol.
"You two thanks for always protecting the town," Zennie left those words before they went inside.
They didn’t linger in the entrance for long, they imdiately entered and proceeded toward the mansion of the town lord, where Zennie’s ho was.
As they passed by the town street, there was a somber atmosphere around. The streets were empty and the buildings around them had their doors and windows closed. It was much like a ghost town.
On the north side of the town, there was a huge mansion. Outside the gate of the mansion, there was a long line of people. So of them were standing, so were lying on makeshift beds and so were sitting on the ground.
Crying and sobering noises could be heard. Coughing sounds were unceasing and disturbing. Others were asking for dicine.
So of these people seed like they wouldn’t last long. Their condition was getting worse every second.
anwhile, the people inside the mansion were also in great depression. The current townlord, a 40-year-old man with slight strands of white hair, clenched his head as he lowered his gaze to the table in front of him, while at the sa ti, hearing his people occasionally begging for dicine.
He felt very helpless. What great sin did he commit to be punished like this? The townlord thought.
The big circle under his eyes was evident that he hadn’t had enough sleep for a couple of days by now.
"There is nothing we can do, Milord. The dicine that the young lady bought at the rchant Guild has long been used up. Even with the help of those dicines, the number of those who get sick does not even dwindle, rather it only increases. Cough! Cough! It also seems like other cities are also suffering from the sa crisis," said the lethargic man with grey hair and a face sowhat 40-50 years old.
This person was the butler of the Rothsport Family.
"Is there any news from my daughter Zennie?"
"Unfortunately no new letter from them has arrived. According to the last letter they sent through Bird ssenger, they are currently traveling further east, towards an old mining village. But, a few days have passed since then and no new letter has been sent."
The 40-year-old townlord frowned.
Quite a few townspeople have died in the past few days. And if it continues until next week, maybe all the people of this city will die.
Homade redy dicine seems useless against this disease.
Now what to do?
"Milord, in regards to Miss Zoey, her condition has been deteriorating gravely."
Hearing that, the townlord felt like his chest was pierced by thousands of needles.
At that mont, there was a sudden commotion from outside.
"Eh! Who’s that?!"
"Who are they?"
"What’s out there?" The townlord suddenly asked.
"It’s a bit noisy. Maybe another one died, Milord," the butler said in a dispirited tone.
The townlord sighed. As ti went on, he beca more and more embarrassed to co out to face the people even though he knew they needed his support. He felt incompetent in this situation and there’s nothing he can do.
Looking at his distressed situation, the butler said, "This incident is not your fault, Milord. The plague just hit us at a ti when we weren’t ready. No one is to bla."
The townlord knitted his brows while closing his eyes. Perhaps contemplating. Butler Yun was trying his best to ease his feelings, but he couldn’t help but feel depressed.
He tried to ask for assistance from the neighboring cities and towns, but there was no response from them. In this situation, with no external help coming for them, they can only rely on themselves.
When the townlord opened his eyes again, there was a new resolve in his eyes.
"I have to face our people. No matter what happens, they need to know the truth that there is no dicine left. That’s better than letting them rely on nothing," the town lord firmly stated.
The reason why many people were waiting and queuing outside was because they thought that there was still dicine hidden in the mansion. But in truth, not a single piece was left.
He avoided telling them the truth so as not to discourage the people. But in this situation, it seems that there is nothing more he can do.
It would be okay if they had a well-known expert cleric who could cure this kind of illness with their healing magic ability.
The townlord then stood up and reached for the front door. His resolve is firm this ti. He would take whatever insult the people threw at him.
The townlord noticed the commotion outside didn’t dwindle, rather, it beca more noisy.
When he opened the front door of the mansion, his eyes turned wide in surprise.
"My daughter?!"
"Father, I’m back!" Zennie said with a wide smile.
