Chapter 85: Private

Andrey nodded, turning to the others. "Wait here. I’ll be back shortly."

Sarah’s eyes narrowed, but she didn’t argue. Lisa gave a small, reassuring smile. Sein remained silent, her gaze fixed sowhere in the distance.

Hope gestured for Andrey to follow, and they walked a short distance away, toward a quieter corner near a row of ergency vehicles. The chaos of the plaza was a dull backdrop now, dics and officials moving with purpose but no longer frantic.

Once they were out of earshot, Andrey spoke first. "You arrived quickly, Hope. Your guild’s territory is on the other side of the city. Even at full speed, that’s a twenty-minute response ti."

Hope’s cheeks flushed slightly. She tucked a strand of golden hair behind her ear, her gaze darting away for a mont before returning to his face. "Ah, well... I happened to be in the area. I saw the ergency alert and... I was worried. Especially since I knew you had just cleared a double gate. You must be exhausted."

Andrey adjusted his glasses, studying her expression. There was sothing nervous in the way she shifted her weight, the way her fingers fidgeted with the edge of her armor.

"I see," he said calmly. "So what did you want to talk about?"

Hope straightened, her professional deanor returning, though the faint blush lingered. "My guild leader would like to invite you for a conversation. Is that okay?"

Andrey raised an eyebrow. "What about?"

Hope’s voice beca more earnest. "Because of what happened the other day, you and your team contributed significantly. You turned the tide. The guild leader recognizes your potential and wants to offer you sothing. An opportunity."

Andrey was silent for a mont, his internal thoughts surfacing. ’This doesn’t sound like a trap. And I owe Hope an apology for the way I treated her after the Vixion incident. eting her guild leader... it’s the least I can do. Besides, if they’re offering sothing, it could benefit the team.’

He t Hope’s eyes. "Alright. I’ll accept the invitation."

Hope’s face lit up with relief and gratitude. "Thank you, Andrey. I’ll arrange the details and send you the ti and location."

Andrey nodded. "I’ll wait for your ssage."

They walked back toward the group, the afternoon sun casting long shadows across the scarred plaza. Sarah was watching them with barely concealed suspicion, Lisa with gentle curiosity, and Sein with studied indifference.

Hope gave a small wave. "I’ll be in touch. Take care, all of you." Then she turned and walked toward a waiting Association vehicle, her golden hair catching the light.

Sarah crossed her arms. "So? What did she want?"

Andrey adjusted his glasses. "An invitation. Her guild leader wants to et with ."

Sarah’s eyes widened. "What? Just you? Why not all of us?"

"The conversation is about the guild incident and our team’s role in it," Andrey said smoothly. "I’ll report back everything afterward."

Lisa tilted her head. "That seems reasonable."

Sein finally spoke, her voice flat. "Don’t trust them too easily, Glasses."

Andrey t her gaze. "I won’t."

Sarah stretched her arms above her head, her transformation long since faded. "Alright, let’s go ho. I’m exhausted."

The van ride was quiet, the four of them slumped in their seats, the adrenaline of the battle finally wearing off. Andrey stared out the window, watching the city lights flicker past. Sarah leaned against Lisa’s shoulder, her eyes half-closed. Sein sat apart, her arms crossed, her jaw tight.

When they finally reached the apartnt, Sarah kicked off her shoes at the door. "I’m collapsing."

But before she could take two steps, Sein grabbed Andrey’s wrist.

"Hey—what are you—" Andrey stumbled as Sein pulled him down the hallway.

"Sein?" Lisa’s voice was confused. "What’s wrong?"

Sein didn’t answer. She yanked open the door to her room and shoved Andrey inside.

"Sein!" Sarah’s tiredness vanished, replaced by alarm. "What the hell are you doing?!"

Sein ignored her. She slamd the door shut and locked it.

Sarah pounded on the wood. "Hey! Open this door!"

Lisa stood behind Sarah, her hands clasped nervously. "Sein... what’s going on?"

Inside the room, Sein pushed Andrey against the wall. Her hands planted on either side of his head, caging him in. Her green eyes blazed with intensity, her chest rising and falling with quick, shallow breaths.

Andrey’s back pressed against the cold wall. His heart pounded, but his voice remained steady. "Sein. What is it?"

She stared at him for a long mont. Then she spoke, her voice low and urgent.

"Hurry up. Do the reward session."

Andrey blinked. "Wait. We should rest first. You’re exhauste—"

"Idiot." Sein cut him off. Her hand shot up, grabbing the collar of his shirt, and yanked him down.

Before Andrey could react, her lips crashed against his.

Andrey’s eyes widened. For a heartbeat, he was frozen—shock, confusion, and the soft, insistent pressure of Sein’s mouth on his. Then his eyes fluttered closed, and he kissed her back.

Outside, Sarah’s pounding stopped. She pressed her ear against the door, her face cycling through shock, indignation, and sothing softer.

Lisa covered her mouth with both hands, her cheeks turning pink.

Inside, Sein’s kiss deepened. Her fingers twisted in Andrey’s shirt, pulling him closer. When she finally broke away, both of them were breathing hard.

Andrey’s voice was hoarse. "Sein... are you okay?"

Her forehead pressed against his. Her eyes were closed, her lips still hovering close.

The system’s holographic screen flickered to life, its usual pink glow tinged with playful heat.

System: Oho~ Looks like today is getting even hotter. Let’s just start the reward session right away, shall we~?

Andrey’s head snapped toward the floating screen, his voice sharp despite the lingering flush on his face. "Quiet, system."

System: ...kay.

The screen dimd but didn’t disappear, watching in silence.

Andrey turned back to Sein, still pinned against the wall, her hands on either side of his head. He reached up and gently cupped her face, his thumb brushing her cheek.

"Sein," he said quietly. "Talk to . What’s wrong?"

Sein’s green eyes flickered—defiance, frustration, and sothing rawer beneath. Her jaw tightened, but she didn’t pull away from his touch.

"At this pace, it’s going to take forever to rank up," she said, her voice low and rough. "We’re moving too slowly. I can’t—" She stopped, her breath hitching. "I can’t stay at C-rank forever. So just... do the reward. So I can fight gates again."
