Chapter 73: CRIMSON STAR BREAKER!
The battle raged on, the grand hall trembling with every clash of steel and explosion of mana. Ernando, his dark armor cracked but his fury undimd, fixed his burning eyes on Sein.
"You... will pay for that." His voice was low, dangerous, and dark energy swirled around his blade.
He lunged.
Sein raised her gauntlets, ready to et him but Andrey was faster. He slid between them, katana flashing as he brought the blade up in a desperate two-handed block. Ernando’s sword slamd against the katana, and Andrey’s Damage Absorb flared bright red, drinking the force of the strike.
But the impact was overwhelming. Andrey’s feet skidded back across the marble, cracks spiderwebbing beneath his boots. His arms scread, and blood trickled from his lip.
"Sein! hold your position!" Andrey gasped, his body trembling.
A blur of white. Simmon Flanks appeared beside Ernando, his twin swords blazing with dark energy. "Shadow Cross!"
The twin crescents slamd into Ernando’s side, carving shallow gashes through his armor. Ernando grunted, spinning to face the new threat, his blade deflecting the follow-up strikes with practiced ease. His empty eyes narrowed.
"Fool. You think such scratches matter?"
Ernando raised his sword high. Dark energy gathered at its tip, swirling into a vortex of shadows. "Darkness... DOMINION!"
A wave of black energy erupted from the blade, washing over the battlefield. The heroes nearest to him cried out, clutching their heads as the oppressive force pressed down on their minds. The monsters in the hall seed to grow stronger, their movents faster, their claws sharper.
Hiji’s face went pale. "Damn it! He’s buffed himself, his defense and attack just spiked! This is bad!"
Sarah’s wand blazed, but her attack splashed harmlessly against Ernando’s enhanced armor. "What a pain! How are we supposed to hurt him now?!"
Hope stepped forward, her crystal sword raised. Her silver gown was torn, her golden hair matted with sweat, but her blue eyes were steady. "I’ll hold him. Everyone, get ready to strike when you see an opening."
She charged.
Ernando’s blade ca down. Hope raised her sword to block, but the force of his blow drove her to her knees. The dark energy crackled along her blade, seeping into her arms. She gritted her teeth.
"Radiant... Aegis!"
A golden light flared around her, forming a shimring shield. Ernando’s blade pressed against it, the two energies hissing and sparking. But Hope’s shield cracked.
The blade broke through.
It sliced across her side, and Hope cried out, stumbling back, blood blooming across her silver gown. She collapsed against a broken pillar, her sword clattering from her grasp.
"Hope!" Lisa’s voice cut through the chaos. She sprinted toward the fallen hero, her mint-green wand already glowing. "Refreshing Breeze—focus!"
Warm, healing light washed over Hope’s wound. The bleeding slowed. The gash began to close. Hope gasped, her hand pressing against her side, feeling the torn flesh knit beneath Lisa’s magic.
"Thank you..." Hope whispered, her voice weak but grateful.
Ernando’s empty eyes fixed on Lisa. The healer. The one keeping others in the fight.
"You..." He raised his blade, dark energy gathering once more. "Die."
He lunged.
Hiji intercepted. "Luminous Arc!" The blue-white crescent slamd into Ernando’s sword, deflecting the strike at the last mont. The blade carved a trench in the floor inches from Lisa’s feet.
Sarah didn’t waste the opening. "Heartstorm Tempest—focus fire!" A concentrated barrage of pink hearts slamd into Ernando’s chest, staggering him.
Allen and Jane, who saw the situation ahead was getting more critical, imdiately sprinted toward the front line, leaping over debris and fallen monsters. Jane’s hands crackled with frost, and Allen’s blade blazed with golden light.
"Jane! Freeze him!" Allen shouted.
Jane’s voice rang out from the flank. "Binding Ice—full restraint!" A wave of frost erupted from her hands, coating Ernando’s legs, his arms, his torso in a thick layer of crystalline ice. He struggled, cracks spreading across the frozen surface, but for a mont, he was locked in place.
Allen didn’t hesitate. "Sword of the Franquiz—STRIKE!" His blade blazed with golden light, and he drove it deep into the crack in Ernando’s chest armor. The impact sent shockwaves through the frozen warrior, and dark ichor sprayed from the wound.
Ernando roared, shattering the ice around him, but his movents were slower now, his defenses compromised.
Simmon was already there, his twin swords spinning in a deadly dance. "Void... Slash!"
The twin blades carved glowing lines across Ernando’s torso—shallow, not deep enough to finish him, but each cut bled dark energy, weakening his armor further.
Ernando stumbled back, clutching his chest, his burning eyes wide with disbelief.
The system’s voice rang in Andrey’s head.
System: Synchronization ready. Initiate?
Andrey’s eyes snapped open. "Synchronized Heart Mode : Activated."
System: Synchronized Heart Mode activation confird. Sein Alphis, do you accept?
Sein’s green eyes blazed. "Confirm!"
Crimson fire erupted from her body.
Her torn dress transford, the fabric growing more ornate, fla-shaped accents spreading across her shoulders and down her arms. A phoenix-like motif blazed across her chest, and her gauntlets elongated, spikes of crimson crystal jutting from the knuckles, glowing with inner fire. Her orange hair lifted, streaks of gold weaving through it, and when she opened her eyes, her pupils had transford into blazing, star-bright points.
Her gauntlets blazed with such intensity that the air around her shimred.
"Hah." Sein’s voice was different, amplified, confident, almost arrogant. "This power... not bad at all."
Ernando’s eyes widened. He raised his blade, dark energy gathering for one final strike.
Sein was faster.
"CRIMSON... STAR... BREAKER!"
She shot forward like a cot. Her fist connected with the wound Simmon had opened. The explosion of crimson light was blinding, a shockwave that knocked heroes off their feet and sent debris flying across the hall.
Ernando’s armor shattered.
The dark energy around him dissipated like smoke in a hurricane. His blade fell from his grip, clattering against the cracked marble. His eyes, no longer empty, stared at Sein with relief.
Then his body crumpled.
He collapsed to his knees, then onto his side, unconscious, his chest rising and falling in shallow, ragged breaths.
The hall fell silent.
The monsters, no longer sustained by his dark energy, began to dissolve. One by one, they crumbled into mana particles, drifting away like ash.
The oppressive barrier around the building flickered, then shattered.
System: Ernando Bainz defeated. Dark barrier dissolved. Synchronized Heart Mode deactivated.
Andrey stood over the fallen S-rank hero, breathing hard, his body bruised and bleeding. Sein stood beside him, her transformation fading, her gauntlets dimming. She swayed, and Andrey caught her arm.
"You did it," he said quietly.
Sein’s lips twitched. "We did it, idiot."
Around them, the heroes of the grand hall began to stir. So wept with relief. Others embraced. A few simply collapsed where they stood, too exhausted to move.
Sarah and Lisa hurried toward Andrey, their footsteps echoing on the cracked marble floor. Sarah’s transformation had fully faded, leaving her in her torn burgundy dress, her brown hair disheveled. Lisa’s mint-green glow flickered and died, her twintails coming loose from their ribbons.
Sarah slumped against Andrey’s shoulder, her voice hoarse with exhaustion. "What a night... I can barely feel my legs. This is the most tired I’ve ever been."
Lisa leaned against Andrey’s other side, her small fra trembling. "But we’re all alive. That’s what matters." She looked at Sein, who was still standing stiffly beside Andrey. Without warning, Lisa stepped closer, wrapped her arms around Sein, and gently guided the taller girl’s head down against her own chest.
"What are you doing?!" Sein’s face flushed bright red. She stiffened, her arms hovering awkwardly in the air. "Let go of , you little—"
"You were amazing out there," Lisa murmured, her hand coming up to stroke Sein’s hair softly. "Thanks to you, we can win."
Sein’s blush deepened. Her rigid posture slowly relaxed, and her trembling hands finally lowered, though she didn’t pull away.
Around them, the grand hall stirred with renewed activity. The shattered barrier had let in the cool night air, and through the broken windows, the lights of ergency vehicles flickered. Association personnel flooded through the main entrance, dics with stretchers, officials with clipboards, and squads of fresh heroes ready to secure the scene.
"dical teams, move! Prioritize the wounded!"
"Secure the periter! We don’t know if more enemies are coming!"
"Get the S-ranks to the treatnt area first!"
The organized chaos washed over the exhausted defenders. Heroes who had been fighting for their lives now submitted to being bandaged, carried, or helped to waiting chairs. The monsters were gone, dissolved into mory.
Simmon Flanks walked toward Andrey, his white hair still disheveled, his black glasses cracked but sohow still on his nose. He stopped a few feet away, twin swords sheathed at his hips. His expression was calm, but when he spoke, there was sothing like respect in his voice.
"You’re impressive, C-rank. Keeping your head while everyone else panicked. Coordinating that final strike." He adjusted his glasses. "If you ever have ti, drop by my guild. Black Coffin could use soone with your... unique talents."
He turned and walked away before Andrey could respond, his long coat swishing behind him.
Andrey stared after him, blinking. "I... didn’t even say yes or no."
A rustle of movent drew their attention. Yuliet Hiji approached, seated astride his lion, Noel. The beast’s golden eyes were tired, its mane singed, but it moved with quiet dignity. Behind them, Delphine sat sideways on Noel’s hindquarters, her silver-blonde hair completely undone, her white robes stained. She gave a weak, wan smile and raised a hand in a small wave.
Yuliet’s black eyes swept over the group, then stopped on Andrey. "Good work out there. Thanks to you, we survived." He paused, then added, "I’d like to talk more when this is all settled."
Sein’s eye twitched. "Hah? Are you trying to recruit us? Forget it, shorty. We’re not joining your guild."
Yuliet’s expression didn’t change. "I wasn’t talking to you, crazy woman."
Sein’s face contorted with fury. "What did you call ?!"
Noel turned and walked away before she could lunge, its massive paws silent on the broken marble. Delphine waved again, her fingers fluttering weakly before she disappeared into the crowd.
"I’d be waiting for you at my guild, Andrey Thompson," Yuliet’s voice floated back, calm and assured. "Don’t keep
waiting too long."
Andrey stood there, still processing.
Sarah groaned. "Does everyone want to recruit you now? That was beyond expectations."
Lisa giggled softly, still pressed against Sein’s side.
Near the entrance, Allen Franquiz stood with Jane, their arms around each other for support. Both were battered, their elegant clothes ruined, but they were alive. Allen caught Andrey’s eye and gave a small nod. Jane raised her hand in a tired wave. Then their subordinates were ushering them toward the dical area, and they disappeared into the flow of people.
Andrey let out a long breath.
The system chid in his head, its voice bright and cheerful despite the exhaustion weighing on him.

Andrey stared at the floating screen, the notifications scrolling past. Level 21. His Ki manipulation was becoming more natural, the energy flowing through his body like a second bloodstream.
Sein was staring at her own notifications, her gauntleted hands trembling slightly. "Phoenix... Rebirth?" she muttered. "What kind of morbid skill is that?"
Lisa bead, her exhaustion montarily forgotten. "You get to co back from the dead! That’s amazing, Sein!"
Sein’s face flushed. "It’s not ’amazing,’ it’s creepy. And it costs a ton of Affection Points."
Sarah crossed her arms, a tired smirk on her face. "At least now you can be reckless without dying. So of us don’t have that luxury."
The system chid one final ti.
