Chapter 18: The Strength After Mortal-Level Weapons Are Upgraded to Spiritual Weapons
As Xu Ning handed the fried tofu to the woman dressed as a man, a crowd had unknowingly gathered around.
"Boss, how much is a skewer!" soone couldn't help but ask.
"Sir, two coins a skewer!" Xu Ning quickly replied.
Although the people around complained that it was too expensive, they hesitated but still chose to buy, and Xu Ning began to get busy.
However, not having a lantern was quite troubleso, as it gradually got dark and it beca difficult to see.
Yet, the crowd around was still large.
This troubled Xu Ning greatly. Leaving was not an option, and continuing to sell was also problematic.
Just as Xu Ning was in a dilemma, Gu Haonan suddenly ca over, carrying a lantern.
"Hahahaha, Xu Ning, I knew you didn't have a lantern. Here, this is for you." Gu Haonan couldn't help but laugh when he saw Xu Ning working in the dark.
Hearing the voice, he looked up and exclaid with delight, "Brother Haonan, you've co at the perfect ti! Have so!"
Gu Haonan was about to refuse, but before he could speak, he slled the aroma and nodded almost unconsciously. "Alright, try your cooking!"
Xu Ning nodded and handed Gu Haonan two skewers of fried tofu, which he had just seasoned.
At the sa ti, Gu Haonan hung up the lantern.
Out of curiosity, Gu Haonan put the fried tofu in his mouth. Instantly, the square tofu burst open in his mouth, and an irresistible flavor spread wildly, assaulting his taste buds.
This fried tofu was simply amazing—absolutely delicious, a true delicacy.
Gu Haonan couldn't resist and quickly began to eat. In no ti, he finished the fried tofu, still looking unsatisfied.
"Give twenty skewers. I'll take them back for my wife to try," Gu Haonan said.
Xu Ning nodded as he worked. "Then you'll have to wait a while."
After finishing with the other custors, he handed Gu Haonan's tofu.
Gu Haonan instinctively asked, "How much?"
Xu Ning shook his head. "No need, Brother Haonan even gave a lantern!"
Gu Haonan smiled and took it, thinking this guy was worth getting along with.
After finishing with Gu Haonan's, the tofu was sold out. After seeing off the complaining people around him, Xu Ning started packing up to go ho.
A person walked over. "My na is Su Nan. What's yours?"
This narrative has been purloined without the author's approval. Report any appearances on Amazon.
Xu Ning looked up and was imdiately surprised. This girl hadn't left yet.
That's right, this person was the first custor who had disguised herself as a man.
Xu Ning imdiately beca alert. Sothing was wrong. The Su family? Could it be soone from the Su Wei family, the enemy of his master Zhao Datou?
"My na is Xu Ning. Aren't you going ho?" Xu Ning replied after thinking for a mont.
Su Nan hesitated before speaking. "I'm an orphan, holess! Could you..."
"No!" Xu Ning interrupted before she could finish.
Judging from her appearance, she was definitely not an orphan. Her words were full of inconsistencies, and she seed completely naive, like a spoiled young lady.
Therefore, there was a high probability that she was, as Xu Ning had guessed, a young lady from the Su family.
Taking such a person in would be out of the question, and even getting too close would bring Xu Ning trouble. So, before she could finish speaking, Xu Ning refused.
Su Nan hadn't expected Xu Ning to refuse so decisively and was montarily at a loss, standing there dumbfounded.
Xu Ning ignored her, quickly packed his things, tied them to Tie Dan, and then led him towards the city gate.
"Aren't you tying up this ox?" Su Nan caught up and asked curiously.
"You'd better not interfere!" Xu Ning's voice was cold.
Su Nan was startled and stood there stunned for a long ti.
But after thinking it over, she gritted her teeth and followed Xu Ning.
Seeing this, Xu Ning felt a headache coming on.
He just wanted a peaceful and low-key life, so why did he always run into trouble? Sure enough, being too handso always attracted unnecessary trouble.
Soon, Xu Ning arrived at the city gate with Tie Dan, while Su Nan was still following behind.
The city gate was already closed, so Xu Ning slipped so money to the commander guarding the city, asking him to make an exception and open it.
The commander couldn't possibly turn down money, since opening the city gate wouldn't cause any problems, so he readily agreed.
However, before leaving, Xu Ning secretly told the commander, "The one following is likely a young lady from the Su family. If you stop her and take her back to the Su family, you should be able to get so reward money!"
The commander's eyes lit up upon hearing this, and he quietly gave the order to his subordinate.
After Xu Ning left, the commander gave the order, and the city gate was opened.
Xu Ning led Tie Dan outside, and Su Nan, who was about to follow, was imdiately stopped by several guards.
Seeing that she was being stopped, Su Nan beca anxious. "Why are you stopping ? I'm with him!"
But the guards ignored her and simply restrained her.
When Xu Ning returned ho, it was already past midnight.
Seeing that no one was around, Xu Ning quickly took out a legendary mortal-level thatched hut and asked, "Can I rge into this hut?"
"Of course! Just let make contact with him," the hut's voice imdiately replied.
Upon hearing this, Xu Ning quickly took the hut and patted it down.
Instantly, the thatched hut in his hand vanished, and the hut before him underwent so subtle changes.
However, these changes were imperceptible unless one looked closely.
Xu Ning then asked a question he had always been curious about. "Thatched hut, can you still upgrade now?"
The thatched hut replied, "Yes, above the mortal-level legendary, there's also the mortal-level divine, but this grade is a bit difficult to upgrade to."
Xu Ning said, "Tell about it!"
The thatched hut said, "It requires consuming mortal-level legendary fodder, and the amount needed is a hundred tis that I needed to upgrade from top-grade to legendary!"
"Hiss!" Xu Ning couldn't help but gasp. This requirent was simply beyond human capability.
However, it seed that for soone like him, an immortal, taking it slow wasn't a big problem.
Then, Xu Ning asked, "Can you upgrade to a spirit weapon?"
The thatched hut replied, "Yes, you just need to consu materials for refining spirit weapons to upgrade!"
Xu Ning asked, "What grade will it be after upgrading? Also, from what you're saying, it can be upgraded now, right?"
The thatched hut replied, "It will be a low-grade spirit weapon after upgrading! Actually, regardless of the grade of the mortal level, it can be upgraded to a spirit weapon, and they will all be low-grade spirit weapons."
Xu Ning was surprised. "All low-grade? Is there a difference?"
The thatched hut replied, "Of course there is a difference. This is a fundantal issue. At the mortal level, we are essentially building our foundation!"
"The higher the foundation, the stronger the ability will be after upgrading to a spirit weapon. For example, right now, after upgrading to a low-grade spirit weapon, I am incomparable to ordinary low-grade spirit weapons."
Xu Ning asked, "What if I reach the divine grade of the mortal level and then upgrade to a low-grade spirit weapon?"
