The fell race cannot love...
This was the information passed down among humans, and not without proof.
There have been many cases where high-profile humans miraculously survived due to sons killing their fathers in battle to steal the achievent of killing a renowned human for themself.
There were also quite a number of records from the humans of Igrif that this was the case.
So, it beca a fact: the Fellkin did not have the capability to love—not the land, not others, and not even their own kin.
Bonds were the term better used by humans.
But who was a different race to judge another of what they were truly feeling?
After witnessing her slain lord, Khatu, plumt from the skies in two halves, Yisu’s world slowed to a crawl and seemingly turned monochro in hues.
The world was gray, and her heart felt endless grief.
If the fell cannot love, then what was this? Was the word "bond" enough?
Yisu didn’t know and didn’t care.
At that mont, all the female Fellkin wanted to do was furiously rush at Zephyron and take the bastard’s head to avenge her lord, who had been with her in the past two decades.
Khatu guided her since she was young, despite their ages not differing by much.
The young master she once served turned into a full-fledged master before she realized it, and again, perished before she knew it.
The years they were together...
Nothing but distant mories now, and if this was the world she had to live in—a world without Khatu Kata, then she’d rather die.
But she couldn’t bring herself to charge forward, despite her vendetta-filled heart.
She couldn’t...
Not when her late master entrusted her with sothing important:
"In the unexpected case that I perish, make a judgnt. If you believe that the humans would suffer irrecoverable losses, then push through with the plan. Die if you must, but not without the plan succeeding. Only retreat when there’s no chance, understood?"
Those were Khatu’s words before they left the fell camp, and "Yes, Lord Khatu." was her answer.
Yisu’s judgnt was that there was a fairly high chance for the plan to succeed.
However, for everything to fall into place, she had to give the flanking horde and those from the east more ti.
Just a bit more...
She would gladly die for it, in the na of her late lord, Khatu of the Kata Clan.
And so, Yisu suppressed her grief, her gaze turning empty and cold.
She did not rush in like a rage-blind idiot.
Instead, she ordered, "Regroup! Lord Khatu has fallen, and I, Yisu, as per his instructions, shall take over."
At that mont, her eyes looked exactly the sa as the humans recounted in their tales: the ruthless eyes of those who cannot love.
Can the fell race truly not love, or did every loss rely turn their hearts colder and more rciless?
Yisu was but a single Fellkin on the battlefield, and not that important in the grand sche of things.
Her feelings didn’t matter to the humans.
After all, the other race, too, lost far too much, and their hatred for the fell race ran soul-deep.
The surviving four from Khatu’s cohort gathered together and montarily retreated at a safe distance, watching the dangerous Zephyron’s every move.
The Wind Magna, however, rely snorted in disdain.
Khatu was just another Fellkin felled by his winds.
As for Yisu and the others, they were about to be added to his resu of kills when suddenly, the ergency horn sounded from the battle camp.
Zephyron montarily turned to the horn’s direction.
But even in this montary lapse of focus, Yisu didn’t dare strike. The success of Khatu’s plan cos first.
The Wind Magna found their seeming indecision rather strange.
Normally, the Fellkin was extrely decisive in combat. It was either fight to the death or retreat.
But their current actions also reeked of sothing.
Zephyron, since becoming a Magna six years ago, had fought a lot of battles against the fell, and he had encountered a situation where the bastards were reluctant to both fight and flee.
It was when they were buying ti for sothing behind the scenes.
Had Kalna not detected their plans ahead of ti, things would’ve taken a disastrous turn for the Imperial Wizard Army.
That was the only ti he got to work with the Ti Magna, so he rembered the happenings of the mission quite vividly.
Zephyron would wholeheartedly admit that he was not a match to Kalna when it ca to intellect.
No...it wasn’t even close.
The Wind Magna’s heart dropped at the realization, and he chose to trust his instincts:
"Cedar, hold the bastards off for a while. Don’t let them do anything other than fight you guys. I’ll be back."
Beneath, Hal and Ennya heard the victorious cheers of the Zephyr Battalion, prompting them to look in awe at the Wind Magna’s sudden victory, though their gazes were short-lived as Zephyron suddenly vanished the next mont.
The two Magna Prospects from Poporo didn’t know where he went, finding his actions strange.
Hal even felt a bit uneasy.
However, what could the Fire and Chaos Platoons do but continue their basic tasks of killing the Fell Beasts?
This was, unfortunately, the current extent of their abilities as wizards, as fighting the Fellkin Warriors—although manageable, was extrely risky, and one mistake ant the ruination of the Imperium’s future.
And so the two shifted their focus back to the rampaging creations in the valley proper.
Their numbers were now less than half of what they originally were; that much is certain.
The Imperial Wizard Army’s hard work was paying off.
anwhile, as the battle raged in the distance, Zephyron made it back to camp.
"L-Lord Zephyron! Thank the gods you’re back!" one of the Imperial Army officers, who had been waiting for the Wind Magna’s return with an anxious heart, called out, temporarily leaving the heavily injured, red-haired soldier from the outpost.
"Officer Duncan, what’s going on here? Why did you sound the ergency horn?" asked Zephyron, portraying an ever-composed exterior, despite his agitated heart.
He had a guess of what was happening.
Sure enough...
"R-Reporting to Lord Zephyron! As per this young soldier, Private Aizen Fern, the outpost had fallen, and around five thousand Fell Beasts, along with a few Fellkin Warriors, are flanking us!"
