"E-E-Ennya Kasai incinerates the entire stage to re ashes!!!" Akari roared her heart out, exaggerating wildly as her spittle flew everywhere and her foot slamd onto the comntator’s desk.

The entire square roared with her, though, as no one could deny that Ennya’s Fla Burst was nothing short of phenonal.

It was clumsy, and it lacked both speed and control for now.

But it brought utter devastation.

Even Felix Dargon, Donner Rakurai, Vyse, and the others expected to make the top eight alongside Ennya couldn’t help but frown at the sight.

They knew they couldn’t face her in a direct power contest—that much was certain.

Even Donner wouldn’t dare now.

Unlike Mizu, however, these competitors had far greater and more nurous trump cards up their sleeves.

They would have survived or prevented such an attack from happening in the first place, had they been in her position.

Everyone couldn’t get over the Ennya show for a while, which made the midget even more pleased and proud.

However, it was inevitable that this excitent wouldn’t last forever, and the tournant still had to proceed.

It was almost nightti.

Fortunately, they were done after one last, exciting batch.

The mysterious Hal Fennec was up next again.

As expected, he and the half-lucky, half-unlucky Korren were assigned to the main stage.

This was the point where even the five-star freshn of the Grand Magic Academy were starting to drop out of the tournant, so if Korren sohow managed to make it to the top 32, he would attract a lot of attention from the higher-ups.

His future would be secured by then.

Unfortunately for him, Hal turned out to be the gatekeeper he needed to get past.

The two ascended the stage with differing deanors.

Hal was mostly calm, composed, and indifferent, while Korren looked as if he were fighting the most important battle of his life, one that was perhaps more internal than external.

Ever since they were young, Hal had been in the lilight back in their village.

Over ti, Korren grew tired of the constant comparisons and gradually began to hate every fiber of Hal’s being, pretending to like him just to avoid being outcast by their generation.

Now was his chance to show everyone from their village that Hal was nothing more than a big fish in a small pond, and that he was but a pebble on the grand stage of the entire empire.

He, on the other hand, was at least a decent rock and would matter more.

Arriving at the center of the massive main stage, the childhood rivals locked gazes.

Korren couldn’t help but clench his fists at the sight of Hal’s nonchalance.

The bastard still dared look down on him?

While he didn’t know how Hal had managed to master his Spirit Wolf to such a degree, Korren wasn’t afraid of a one-trick pony.

He had ways to stall and evade the summon while going straight for Hal.

This ti, the stare-down couldn’t have been more intense between the two.

No one averted their gaze the entire ti as they waited for the tir above their heads to tick down to zero.

The crowd naturally sensed sothing was amiss, and since quite a few students from the Grand Magic Academy had co to watch the matches live, the fact that Hal and Korren were from the sa village spread quickly.

From there, people’s imaginations filled in the rest.

They ca to the sa conclusion: the two must have had bad blood back in their village, and they weren’t entirely wrong.

It was just that Hal didn’t know Korren hated him.

Ti continued ticking down, and the hype for their battle grew as it drew closer.

Korren was the perceived underdog.

However, the cold smirk on his face made everyone curious as to how he planned to deal with Hal’s Spirit Wolf.

The crowd didn’t have to wait long, as the final battle of the day soon began:

"0"

"Begin!"

To everyone’s surprise and confusion, Hal didn’t summon his Spirit Wolf and instead sprinted as fast as he could toward Korren.

The latter was just as confused as the crowd.

However, he much preferred the current situation.

If Hal was foolish enough to change his combat approach just because of a show of confidence, then all the better.

It would be as if Hal caused his downfall once he lost.

He would look even more foolish in the eyes of the onlookers that way.

"I’m quite disappointed, Hal," Korren sneered, as a decently powerful Aqua Serpent erged from a blue magic circle that materialized in front of him.

It opened its maw and shot straight at Hal, who appeared to be running directly toward the serpent without any intention of dodging.

The fake bastard was about to spout so more bullcrap.

However, Hal’s actions confused him just enough to make him pause and watch.

Wouldn’t his Aqua Serpent easily send Hal flying out of the stage if this continued?

But then, just before Hal was devoured by the water elental spell, he suddenly disappeared, leaving Korren frozen in utter bewildernt.

This montary lapse allowed Hal to reappear in front of him with [Blink], palm strike his face to cast [Knockback], and send him flying out of the arena, crashing into the barrier set up in front of the crowd.

The next thing Korren knew, Hal was looking down at him with a mocking expression as he sat on the ground outside the main stage.

’I...lost?’

"C-Competitor Hal sends Competitor Korren flying out of the arena with a vicious Blink and Palm Strike combo! What a way to be defeated!" Comntator Jhow exclaid with utter excitent and a hint of glee, knowing that losing in such a way to one’s rival had to be rather embarrassing, and he made sure to subtly rub it in with his words.

Korren felt as though he were losing his sanity at that very mont.

If this was a nightmare, he wished he could wake up right about now.

Except it wasn’t...
