In the previous scene, Xiang Yirou had morized her lines exceptionally well, nailing them all in one go with perfect expressions and movents.
Ever since the start of filming, Director Zhao had never seen Xiang Yirou this invested. It was almost as if she had beco one with her character, her performance was seamless. After the argunt scene earlier, it was ti for the action scenes. The last shot ended with the female lead uncontrollably grabbing the hand of the second female lead which was followed by a lengthy fight scene.
Xiang Yirou did put her hand on Xue Feifei’s shoulder and the mont Xue Feifei looked at her, a slap seed to fly out of nowhere.
Xue Feifei had been on high alert since she was slapped by Du Sui yesterday.
Reacting instinctively to Xiang Yirou’s approaching slap, she twisted her body and raised her arm to block it. The ensuing slap landed with a resounding smack on her arm instead.
“Cut!” The director called for a cut. He lifted up his head, frowning at the two of them. The scene was supposed to end with Xue Feifei turning her head. The slap or anything like it was probably just Xiang Yirou ad-libbing.
As soon as he yelled “CUT,” Xiang Yirou quickly bowed her head and imdiately apologized with utmost courtesy, “I’m sorry, I made a mistake. I mixed up the fight scene from the next act with this one. My bad.”
Even the fight scene didn’t call for any face-slaps, right? If Xue Feifei hadn’t acted quickly, she would’ve been slapped right across the face, again.
But she couldn’t lose her temper right now because she was still trending as a hot topic. Although there were no reporters around the set, outside there was a swarm of them. Even a slight wind could stir the news about her.
To make matters worse, Yu Sixing was not around. This being a film city implies that there are many drama groups, stars, and investors around. He was having tea with another investor for an upcoming project.
Xue Feifei had a temper, but she wasn’t a fool. At this point, making a scene with Xiang Yirou would not end well for her. People would only see her as a drama queen, not to ntion a difficult person to work with. Even malicious fabrications would spiral out of this.
That’s probably why Xiang Yirou had been so sincere in her apology. Even though she had the upper hand, she knew she had to play her part just right. If this were to be caught on cara or spread around, she could easily brush it off as a mistake, but if Xue Feifei couldn’t keep her calm and tried anything, she would certainly not let it go easily.
“It’s okay, just surprised is all. You’re quite the actress.” Xue Feifei chuckled wryly.
“Should we do that scene again?” Xiang Yirou could sense Xue Feifei’s discontent, but she didn’t let it bother her. She was a bit disappointed that her hit didn’t land just now. If they were to re-shoot this scene, she would absolutely break her!
“No need, let’s just move on to the next scene.”
Although the slap ca as a surprise, the scene had already ended by then. The previous take had been perfect, they wouldn’t know if a re-shoot would achieve the sa effect.
The next scene was a straight-up fight. Unlike a martial arts film that included all sorts of flying kicks and sorsaults, there was still so confrontation involved – much easier for her to land a hit.
Xiang Yirou had always avoided confrontation with her. But today, with the help of the action director, they had actually practiced a few moves. When everything was ready and filming started, Xiang Yirou got into character. The mont she was about to make a move, Xue Feifei fired back, not at her face, but hard enough to leave her hand stinging with a red print.
