There was a very realistic question, one he hadn’t considered before as he had been solely focused on saving her. But now, at this very mont, it lingered in his mind. That was, during the three days Lu Weixi was held by the two kidnappers, could anything inappropriate have happened to her?

The malice in this world often cos without reason. The human heart, at tis, is beyond comprehension. He wasn’t soone pedantic or narrow-minded. If sothing truly had happened, he wouldn’t bla her excessively, wouldn’t let his thoughts spiral uncontrollably. He certainly wouldn’t despise her or look down on her, let alone harm her. He would only bla himself—it was he who brought this misfortune upon her; it was he who hadn’t rescued her in ti. All he wanted was to kill those who had hurt her. When he had ti, he would make sure to capture every last one of those scumbags. Not a single one of them would escape!

However, she had just regained consciousness and undergone surgery. Having been abducted for three days, her emotions might not have cald down yet. If she were provoked, it could trigger a chain reaction of other issues.

The two interrogators, who were acquaintances, naturally understood and said, "Don’t worry. If Miss Lu isn’t ready to give a statent now, we can wait until she feels better to proceed."

"It’s fine." When it ca to serious matters, Lu Weixi no longer had the petulant tone she had just used with Qin Zhiyou. She sounded much calr now. "I can do it."

Before leaving, Qin Zhiyou adjusted her IV drip, slowing the flow for more comfort, before turning and heading out the door.

The two interrogators sat down. There was only one table in the room, and since they needed to docunt the case, they moved the wallet on the desk to the side of the bed.

Lu Weixi began slowly recounting the case, starting from when she attended the event. She talked about spotting Qin Zhiyou’s bodyguard, initially mistaking him for a bad actor, then eting up with Xue Feifei, and the people she encountered in the room. On her way back, she detailed how she first mistakenly nabbed Qin Zhiyou’s bodyguard, followed by the driver who chased after a thief. Letting her guard down completely, she returned to her apartnt complex only to be accosted at the entrance and taken away. She spoke of being taken to a warehouse first, then transferred to a mountain near a reservoir, how she tried to untie the ropes, her failed attempt to escape, and finally being tied up in a car before Qin Zhiyou rescued her. She tried her best to restore all the details. Her retelling was very composed, occasionally pausing to recollect certain details.

She was especially detailed when describing the appearances of the two kidnappers. Her descriptions matched perfectly with the two suspects, and she confird their identities after being shown their photos. This verified that the police’s earlier deductions were correct. Regardless of who the mastermind was, the two kidnappers were the ones who carried out the act.

She also ntioned that, at the beginning, the two kidnappers gave her water to drink and allowed her to relieve herself. But midway, they let slip sothing that revealed the plan to drive the car off the cliff as part of a preditated death trap. From the start, no matter what transpired, the end was designed to appear as though she died in a car crash.

This was a crucial detail. The two interrogators nodded in acknowledgnt and asked, "During this ordeal, did these two individuals ever threaten you, beat or abuse you in any way, or subject you to any other form of tornt?"

This wasn’t just idle curiosity. Asking for specifics would help later when apprehending the suspects, as their sentences would be based on the cris committed. Lu Weixi shook her head, her deanor composed, her expression calm, not appearing to be lying. The two interrogators didn’t pursue the question further.

When asked whether she had any enemies, she thought for a mont and said, "I don’t think they were after money. There must have been another motive. Maybe it was about love or about revenge."
